Just like the other cities in Ohio and New Jersey, Newark enjoys a rich history and an even richer future. You will hear many references to the "Gotham City" nickname in the media today, but if you venture to this historic center in search of some of the landmarks that make this region special, you may be surprised to learn that there are so many more treasures to uncover here than what meets the eye! One of the first things that you will notice about the Newark region is that it possesses many of the historic heartbreaks of history. Of course, these places go way back in time, but as you travel down Main Street in the morning and look out over the many intersections and the shops and restaurants and buildings that line the thoroughfare, you will be struck by how much has changed. Where was once a row of brick houses with wellconstructed houses and a smattering of apartments with porches and porcelain tile roofs, there is now an entirely new face of the building today, one that is much more modern yet attractive and comforting at the same time. This type of architecture is in keeping with the times. And what a face it was! Another landmark that you will want to add to your list of Newark Ohio attractions is the Newark Museum and Zoo. The Newark Museum is home to numerous artifacts that tell the history of our country and New Jersey itself. In addition to this, there is a children's section that features dinosaur footprint artwork and other hands on activities that educate the children as well as the adults. There is also an aquarium that features marine life and many different types of coral.
