THE VALLEY HOUSE

Back in 2021 i was approached by a client who loved nature and felt its absence while living in dubai, he missed the rocks, the sound of water splashing on bolders and the calmness of sitting under a tree away from the noise of the city. So i decided to present him with some ideas that we are still working on now in 2022. A valley entrance where a calm waterfall tumbles down its side, welcoming him every day. Walking deeper into the ground further and further away from the city, only to be welcomed by an old tree breaking through the court yard into the sky. The earth walls serve as a natural noise cancellation barrier. The only sounds to be heared are the leafs moving in the wind generated by the courtyard, and the water falling calmly on the stones. The project is still in its early stages but it looks promising and am proud to help some one achive his dream.

THE WORKSHOP One morning i woke up with an urge to build a scale model, knowing that i lack the space i needed to do it, i decided to wonder.. What would that space look like?

A small cozy resting ground behind, overlooking the model on one side, and the beauty of nature on the other.

I jumped out of bed, my head full of ideas, images rushing across it, and started building this scene.

A space that i dont want to leave, pushing me to spend my nights, in the warm focus lights, doing what i love..

Bright lighting with a hot mug of coffe, white spaces with an old desk baring scars of my previous projects like a warrior in a battle field.

Only if...

the sanctuary

The good old days... My client opened the discussion with this. He described what he wants, a place he can call home, that reminds him of his long gone mom. A humble home, fluid and full of life, simple yet elegant, a touch of life, and a sprinkle of modernism. Calm, and cozy, he wanted to live there with his wife the photographer, waking up to the sea breeze, having breakfast at the pool, on a rough floor, no distractions, not even the house its self. A place that serves him and not having to worry on how to serve it. Starting from there i started sketching what am imagining, drawing his future life as if am seeing it as he speaks. He saw the sketch and wanted more! I went back home and built what i foresaw and i came up with this vision..

HOME OF THE Excentric

When corona first hit the world, everyone was quarentined, stuck in their homes. Many people started to realise how little their homes resembled what they actually wanted from a home. I started thinking of everyspace i see and how i would want it to be. A kitchen like an apothecary lab from a steam punk era! A dark, calm reading room, with my attention focused only on the book am sailing through. A dining room bright and happy, promising me a bright and happy day ahead. A balcony wide and calm, natural in every sense of the word, fire and flowers and a beautiful sunset for an amazing day. A villa simple enough to calm my mind, yet full of life and happiness.

MORNING PREP

Food! We spend a third of our life eating.. But we dont really give it the attention it deserves. We as architects have a big role in people’s life and how eager they are to do what needs to be done in their daily routine. And i believe the kitchen is where all of these start. A good space with great functionality and attention to details, leads to a happy chef, to a good meal, to a beautiful rest of the day!

THE HUT

I was bored of palm trees i see everywhere in dubai, missing the forests of my country. I decided to do this excercise, of what would life be like if i could buy a small land back home, and build a place that invites nature in, invisible in the woods, warm like the sun...

MY DREAM After my previous attempt, i started expanding the idea further and further. Till reached this home, my lake home. So i decided to try a new tool! I implemented twinmotion here for the first tiem. A powerful tool that captured the essense of my dream..

SARAYA AL AQABA Back in 2015 palmer and turner architects started working on a major development project in jordan, al aqaba. I had the good fortune of being one of the lead visualizers working on this project, and i had the honor of working with director john morgan who had great insights on every shot we created. The project had many zones, from beach hotels to family hotels ending with residential villas. It was a long project but marked a good point in my career as an artist. A great thanks to p&t for letting me be part of their family.

UAE EMBASSY In 2017 p&t architects was presented with a competition that i worked on with the lead designer mahmoud shahin and my team mate noel corporal. It was the united arab emirates embassy based in bejin, we aimed to capture the atmosphere in every climate possible. It was a welcome challenge to break away from the routin of sunny renders and shiny facades.

TANJA WATERFRONT

During my period with palmer an turner architects i had the fortune to work on many major projects, this wasnt the biggest projects but always left me with a warm feeling every time i remember it. I worked on this project with a team of 23 architects with john morgan as the director. It was a project based in morocco, in the city of tangier, the project had a short deadline and we needed to present them with many renderings that captured the life style of the area that the building will provide. The project was unique in its architectural language, and was one of the highlights of my time spent at the company.

AZERENERJY HQ

This project was before my time with palmer and turner architects. I was asked by the company in 2019 to recreate the images that they had of the project as they were outdated. The time frame i had was very tight as we were doing other projects at the time, but it was a fun little project to do on the side.

KING FAISAL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Kfia was a small competition i worked on with my team mate noel corporal in p&t architects back in 2018. It was a quick project with a short deadline, a simple design from the outside, but beautiful and natural on the inside.

COMPETITIONS

Over the years i participated in many competitions. Some were on a professional level with companies, some individual entry. Ranging between small free ones to large scale paid competitions. Here i listed some of the entries.

THE PLACE I CALL HOME In 2010 i baught an offplan property in dubai as a small investment in my future. After a 3 years delays i recieved the small studio apartment and out of sheer happiness i decided to decorate it and live in it for a while before moving on to a bigger home. I created the rendering on the right rather quickly to put what i imagined the apartment would look like. The results to the left were a great sucess in my opinion.

and the journey continues...
