SPEED CLEAN YOUR HOME IN 30 MINUTES

The date is set and your guests will be arriving, now it’s time to get your house in tip-top shape. Let’s be honest. Who has the time (or energy) to completely scrub their home from top to bottom? Never fear, we have some great ideas to help you get the cleaning completed quickly.

5 minutes: Clear clutter

Grab a large basket and dash around the house picking up miscellaneous items on the floor, benchtops, dining table and wherever else they are creating mess and clutter, then hide the basket in the garage, laundry or anywhere your guests won’t be looking.

10 minutes: Dust

Move through each room guests will be going in, cleaning with a duster and wiping dust off surfaces, photo frames, bookshelves and ornaments.

15 minutes: Bathroom and toilet

Focus on the bathroom and toilet the guests will be using. Spritz mirrors, vanity, toilet and floor and let the cleaning liquid work its magic while you clear clutter and throw dirty towels and wash cloths in the laundry basket. Wipe everything down with a microfibre cloth. Scrub inside the toilet bowl with a toilet brush and wipe down the seat and outside of the toilet bowl with a paper towel.

20 minutes: Kitchen and dining

Pour half a cup of water into a bowl, squeeze the juice of a lemon into the water and drop both lemon halves in. Heat for three minutes in the microwave then let it sit for a few more minutes. While the lemon is working its magic, pack all dishes into the dishwasher, wipe down the stovetop, counters and fridge. Scoop out any food from the sink and wipe it down. Wipe it clean with a cloth then finish by wiping out the microwave. The acidity of the lemon will make it super-easy.

25 minutes: Entrance

Shake out the front door mat, tidy the foyer and make sure shoes, hats, umbrellas etc are packed away.

30 minutes: Floors

Run the vacuum quickly over all carpets and floors that guests are likely to be using. Pack the vacuum away and voila!
