While residential interior design is often the focus, it’s good to keep in mind that commercial interior design is equally inspirational. Whether it be a fancy real estate agent office, a trendy cafe or a medical practitioner’s waiting room, creating a beautiful interior commercial space is important for both staff and clients. You may also discover new style ideas and products that you can introduce into your home. A well-designed workspace for staff is important for functionality and also for wellbeing. We spend many of our waking hours at work, and these hours are far more enjoyable in an aesthetically pleasing workspace. Clients these days have higher expectations of the presentation of a commercial space and often choose to go to well designed places over “vanilla” premises, even if it means paying more. This month I thought it may be interesting for the readers to learn about the interior design of a local yoga, barre and Pilates studio in Buderim. Haven Yoga Studio has been designed beautifully to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Being a multi-discipline studio, it was important to keep the space open for flexibility of use; the design purposely minimises physical barriers allowing clients and
teachers to move freely together through the space. This feeling of openness needed to be balanced with fabrics and finishes to create a warm and inviting environment for the classes that are taught. Privacy from the main street was important so the addition of ceiling-to-floor sheer flax linen curtains softened the space and allowed filtered natural light while providing privacy for clients during class time. The
inclusion of VJ wall panelling also included texture and form to break up the openness and make the studio feel more homely. Natural timbers, woven furnishings and indoor plants break up the white space and create a calm and natural environment for the users. The indoor plants also provide air purification and a pop of colour. The director of the studio, Charmaine Cowling, ensured that the products and services
