Broadway’s best party is turning up the volume, when Mad About Theatre hits The Events Centre, Caloundra. Musical Rock of Ages captures the iconic era that was the big bad 1980s Hollywood. Know What Love Is, Feel the Noise and Take Your Best Shot – all of the greatest hits take over one of the Sunset Strip’s last epic venues. And, you can experience the magic. We have one double pass to give away to the October 4 7.30pm show in Caloundra.
FROM THE EDITOR
T
he fashion-forward New Yorker Carrie Bradshaw once said, “shopping is my cardio”. Sure, she may have been a fictional character, but I am on board with the sentiment. I’m a bricks-and-mortar type of shopper. I prefer to spend time browsing stores, trying on clothes, chatting with the staff, stopping for tea and cake. Bliss! I grew up in a small town where people still prefer to pop into town – local people supporting local business, and I love it. My parents owned a few small businesses and I learnt from a young age about community spirit and the importance of supporting each other. It keeps money local and provides jobs. I have a few favourite shopping haunts here on the Sunshine Coast, one being Caloundra’s CBD. I love the village vibe of Bulcock Street. There is a great mix of retail and cafes, and shopping there is always a rewarding experience. This is one of the reasons that My Weekly Preview is supporting the Downtown Caloundra night shopping event. In a first for the retailers, select stores in Bulcock Street from Minchinton Street through to Knox Street and surrounding laneways will remain open from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on September 26. There will be specials and giveaways, so don’t miss out! For more, you can read our story on page 24. This week, we have plenty more on offer from our holiday fun guide to travel, news, commercial property, food and fashion. Enjoy.
