Outstanding Performance Award in Arts & Entertainment

The Nevada Chamber Orchestra was awarded “Entertainment Ensemble of the Year,” by the Spotlight Honor Awards. The Nevada Chamber Orchestra, under the group’s Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. Gregory Maldonado, and now in its sixth season, is renowned for its diverse programing, which includes performances recognizing Chinese New Year, famous Jewish Composers of classical music, and concerts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Grandparents’ Day. The ensemble also performs music by the great film composers and a variety of classical and contemporary works. The group consists of musicians who come from diverse backgrounds and who have a wide range of experience and expertise and is comprised of doctors, teachers, and advanced high school and college students. The Nevada Chamber Orchestra is also a vital part of the cultural landscape of Nevada, and offers unique entertainment, as well as an enriching educational experience, for audience members of all ages.

A highlighted presentation of the year was titled “Dance in the New Year,” held at the Orleans Hotel Ballroom, in which the Orchestra performed many of Johann Strauss, Jr.’s most famous waltzes, in addition to Duke Ellington swing music, all during a four-course dinner for the audience. Orchestra’s Board of Directors and Performing Artists and praised the Ensemble for creating dynamic and passionate performances at various venues, such as the Summerlin Performing Arts Center and the Starbright Theatre.

The Orchestra is renowned for its diverse repertoire, which includes both classical and contemporary works, as well as a variety of Jazz and popular works, under the direction of Artistic Director and Conductor, Dr. Gregory Maldonado.
