It’s for this reason that he established Sunset Clinic in Las Vegas in 2009, changing the healthcare system in the valley for good. The start of Sunset Clinic, which now has five locations around Las Vegas, began after Dr. Ferdowsian witnessed firsthand the revolving-door phenomenon that occurs all too often in the emergency medicine field. After practicing 10 years of emergency medicine, it became evident to Dr. Ferdowsian that many medical conditions were bandaged up by other doctors, with no definitive diagnoses made, leading to unnecessary referrals to specialists. Patients were led down a path of never-ending diagnostic tests — with ultimately no answers. Many of these patients ended up in the emergency department time and time again, frustrated with their care and hoping to get answers in the hospital, driving up the cost of medicine. Convinced that better medical practices were needed in the Las Vegas area, Dr. Ferdowsian opened Sunset Clinic, a multidisciplinary healthcare system established to help elevate the quality of care provided in the greater Las Vegas area. His goal from the beginning was to use evidence-based medicine to properly diagnose the patient, leading to proper treatment. Given the experience in the Las Vegas market, the Sunset Clinic team also partnered up with a hand-selected group of specialists based on their track records for providing compassionate, cost-effective care. This led to proper utilization of specialty care and utilization of the emergency departments for true emergencies. Today, with five locations and thousands of patients, Dr. Ferdowsian’s desired medical care is no longer a concept, but a proven healthcare system with a loyal and dedicated staff — a staff that strives to continue to elevate the level of healthcare provided in the greater Las Vegas area.
