I set attainable goals and resolutions for the upcoming year, but I also set a game plan for how to achieve each one. Having a plan of action alongside those resolutions holds me accountable and has been very effective in reaching those set goals. Whether it be fitness goals, business goals, financial goals, etc., take it one step at a time. Be consistent. Be patient and believe in yourself. I can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for all of us.
Stay warm, blessed, and have a Happy New Year! See you in 2023!

MYVEGAS HEARS FROM ACES PRESIDENT
NIKKI FARGAS
ON HER JOURNEY WITH THE TEAM
By: Brenda DamianMore than one year into her new role as President of the Las Vegas Aces, Nikki Fargas has thus far had an incredible start, coming off an amazing season that led the team to clinch their first WNBA championship title. We at MyVegas, and surely the entire Las Vegas valley, are so proud to see this team give Las Vegas their first major professional sports championship and congratulate the Aces on their outstanding triumph!
MyVegas had the chance to speak to Nikki Fargas about her journey from coaching to the front office, and her highlights so far with this team.
HIGHLIGHTS SINCE TAKING ON NEW ROLE Nikki Fargas has officially settled into her new role as President of the Las Vegas Aces. Since taking on her role, the franchise has accomplished historical success with an unbelievable season that won them the coveted championship title. Success however doesn’t come alone, especially in a team-oriented environment. Nikki Fargas describes working with an amazing assembled team which includes everyone on staff, to head coach Becky Hammon and Olympic winner Natalie Williams, as making her feel ecstatic, and the biggest highlight of her role thus far.
Promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion is important to the organization and the legacy Nikki Fargas is working towards building in the franchise. Nikki said, “This league is full of former players that can shift over to the front office... You understand what culture is. You understand what drives culture.
You understand that there's no job too big or too small for me to do. You understand community and family. You understand the PR side of it. You understand the media. You understand what it is to have supporters.”
FROM COACHING TO FRONT OFFICE
Raiders owner Mark Davis was one of the deciding factors for Nikki Fargas to make the transition from coach to front office. When he and Larry Delsen flew to Baton Rouge, they spoke with Nikki Fargas about the future of the franchise and what the next 25 years would look like. Nikki Fargas described Mike Davis as a Superfan saying, “I absolutely love the passion and the commitment that Mark has made to the Las Vegas Aces…I'm going to call him a superfan. You will see him courtside all the time cheering, and you also see him traveling. I don't know how he does, the owner of two very historical…we hope to be as [historical] as the Raiders, but the history of the Aces go as far back as to San Antonio and Utah Starzz…to be able to have this opportunity as President of the ACEs… I really feel like I've been around the game of basketball my entire life.”
The uphill battle the WNBA is still faced, which also drew her in and drove her to want to be a part of the solution. She said she envisioned creative and innovative ways to enhance how the franchise operates, adding that the WNBA’s stance on the country’s social injustice issues and the way they protested in a peaceful, yet meaningful way, “Seeking justice for Brianna…the WNBA represents that, and I was thrilled to be a part of it” said, Nikki.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES FACING THE WNBA
The WNBA's history spans 26 years, but still faces an uphill battle with getting the recognition it deserves. Being in the game almost her whole life, Nikki Fargas understands this dynamic but intends to face the challenges of getting “decision makers” to pay attention to what the viewership data is saying. Nikki said, “Our viewership and the numbers are there now it's a matter of …those who can decide… we would like to create a media right deal for the Las Vegas ACEs that is fair and in line with what the community is saying. They're watching us. When you have over one and a half million people watching the semifinals of the WNBA game…you know? Where is that? So, we need to be able to capitalize on it. This is a great product. It's entertaining. These are the best players in the world. You can't argue that when women's basketball, no other sport, but women's basketball has won seven consecutive gold medals. That's dominance and we have those players right here playing in our country, and we need to support that…”
LAS VEGAS ACES COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
The Las Vegas community has embraced the team and shown their support by turning up at games and selling out the stadium. The team has reciprocated in kind and has been showing their commitment to the city through their involvement with great causes that support a healthy lifestyle, cancer clinics, school engagements, and have future initiatives to bring awareness to
those accolades to define who she is…she's playing at such a high level of accuracy that shooting almost 75% is, is unheard of…that's the work that she's put into it … and I think that plays into the rest of the team.”
Adding to what was the driving force to the Aces successful season is the staff of Becky Hammon. “You've got three assistant coaches that have never worked together and to be able to bring them into the fold and for them to buy into what their culture is here, putting your team before yourself. This is a good example of what your teamwork looks like,” adds Nikki.
THE FUTURE OF THE WNBA
The future of the WNBA was one of the things Nikki Fargas, Mark Davis, and Larry Delson discussed on the cusp of Nikki coming to the WNBA Aces team. Now in its 26th season, the league has grown from just 8 teams to 12 teams and continues its evolution to expand and promote the league. There was a 19 percent increase in viewership in the 2022 season compared to the 2021 season.
Nikki Fargas firmly believes in the future of the WNBA saying, “We are living in a time where women, in sports in particular… [the WNBA] have always led in social change, social justice, just making our society better in so many ways. This is a very inclusive environment. When you come and you watch the Las Vegas Ace’s

THE LASH QUEEN OF LAS VEGAS
With Las Vegas being the entertainment capital of the world, there’s no doubt that the majority of women who work in many of the industries in Sin City need to look their best.
Lash extensions have become one of the must-have beauty essentials in maintaining their daily beauty routine. With the demand for service in any industry, the quality can sometimes be compromised. For Lash Queen, Ariane Lazo, quality, and longevity is something that can’t be compromised when applying lash extensions.
With 15 years of experience in the beauty industry as a Hairdresser, Aesthetician, Make-Up Artist, Lash Artist and Cosmetology Educator, Ariane has put all this knowledge into choosing the right prod-
ucts and has refined her skills to offer the best service in this oversaturated market. Consequently, this has led to many referrals and continuous bookings that have kept this lash queen busy. This hasn’t stopped her from taking the next step in creating a brand that offers a line of luxury lash products and training to help other lash artists provide better service. With the launch of lashqueeninternational.com, an online store, all her Lash Queen products are available along with registration for artist training and other helpful resources. “Once I was able to reach a level of success in my business,
my passion for being an educator encouraged me to empower others to contribute to improving the quality of service in my industry,” says Ariane.
Just as many businesses around the world that have been hit hard by the pandemic, Vegas truly showed a domino effect due to many businesses and industry’s that rely on each other to succeed, the beauty industry being one of them. Times like these are a true test to see if business owners have prepared or can adapt to hard times. It was important from the beginning to start Lash Queen International on the right track by creating an LLC and keeping her financials organized. It was her initial intention to be able to show that her business was profitable to buy a house and protect her financial future. “Putting in the work of creating a legitimate business would ultimately help me to keep it from going under,” Ariane adds. It is very common for many beauty professionals to not claim their income, such as sub-contracted workers that do not keep track of their income and spending. This put many of them in very tough situations throughout the pandemic and were forced, in many cases, to find other career paths or jobs. The change and uncertainty have made a lot of us feel uncomfortable, but for Ariane, once she adapted to this unfortunate situation, it was time to find ways to use this down time to step back and evaluate how she could improve her business and come back strong. Resilience is built in those who can get through and learn from tough times in life. She is now hoping to help others in the beauty industry to be better self-employed or business owners because a Queen is only as strong as her kingdom. MV

WHAT IS HOSPICE ?
As the largest and only non-profit hospice in Southern Nevada, we are often asked questions about what hospice is and how it can help someone at the end of life.
It’s important to understand that hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy, that focuses on the well-being of the whole person. It is a journey of care for a patient. When a prognosis of a life-limiting illness is six months or less, it is time to consider hospice.
IS HOSPICE THE RIGHT THING FOR YOU:
Have you or your loved one spent more time in and out of the hospital, than at home? Are you or your loved one struggling with getting out of bed and getting dressed daily because you are physically not able? Have you have considered looking into hospice care for support? If so, you are not alone. Understandably, people find this period stressful and unfamiliar with the new responsibilities. As overwhelming as it may seem, choosing hospice will be a wise choice. As your trusted partner on the journey of care, we bring compassion and hands-on support in the patients home during difficult days ahead.
OUR PEOPLE MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
We have been recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the 100 Best Places to Work in the country nine times in the last decade. We value our colleagues, and that allows them to provide the highest standard of care to our community.
WE ARE THE HOSPICE OF CHOICE
We are recognized as a national leader in hospice and palliative care, and have helped more than 80,000 patients since we opened our doors over forty years ago. It is our privilege to be part of our city’s rich history and to continue to care for all who need it.
WE PROVIDE QUALITY CARE WHERE YOU ARE
Our clinical staff offers support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our inter-disciplinary teams provide care wherever someone calls home — private residences, assisted living centers, and nursing homes. We have two inpatient locations in the Las Vegas Valley – our 20-bed Swenson facility and our 18-bed Tenaya facility.
HOSPICE IS A NON-PROFIT
We raise funds to provide care to uninsured and underinsured members of our community and support needed programs and services such as meal delivery, complementary therapies, transportation, and families in need.
WE HAVE TRAVELED THIS PATH MANY TIMES
Nathan Adelson Hospice partners with patients and families to bring relief, comfort and dignity. Our vision is that no one should end the journey of life alone, afraid or in pain. MV

Even though my expertise is in spine surgery, most of our patients fortunately do not require any surgical treatment and we guide them down the non-surgical path to make sure they get better and return to the pain free life.
Q: What differentiates you from other similar practices in Las Vegas?
Dr. Khavkin: Our focus is on the quality of care and especially customer service. Our clients’ experience is of utmost importance for our organization. This certainly sets us apart from a lot of other practices in town.
We also have been performing a significant number of spine surgical procedures in a surgery center setting which allows our patients to be discharged home the same day. It improves patient’s experience and outcomes. This also minimizes patient exposure to the hospitals and potential infection including exposure to Covid.
Q: Do you do any personal injury work?
Dr. Khavkin: Yes. We have a dedicated team that focuses on personal injury work. We make sure that our clients get scheduled within several days and get seen by our providers with very minimal wait time. We are in constant communication with attorneys’ offices to make sure we get our reports out within 24 hours of seeing our patients.
We provide the following services under lien: spine care, neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury evaluations and treatment, initial PI patient evaluations, post trau-
matic ENT related symptoms treatment (tinnitis, vertigo, hearing problems), traumatic facial injury treatments, expert reports, and life care plans.
We can always accommodate lien patients within a week and pride ourselves on exceptional customer service and creating great experience for our clients.
Q: What are your hobbies?
Dr. Khavkin: My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family and watch my three kids develop into unique individuals. We are a musical family. My wife and I have performed a number of times at the Smith Center for Nathan Adelson foundation fundraisers. We look forward to going back on stage as the world is returning to normal. MV

BEHIND THE BLADE and BEYOND THE FRAY OSSEOINTEGRATION
PART TWO
Going behind the blade and beyond the fray with Dr Ronald Hillock, the champion of Osseointegration, is always an eye-opener.
Since the last time we spoke, there have been a few new developments regarding the procedure of Osseointegration (OI) and its status as a novel solution for amputees. Previously, the procedure (which eliminates the need for suction socket prosthesis, as well as the discomfort caused by their usage) was not available to all amputees. A new form of OI is now available for patients with peripheral vascular disease or diabetes mellitus. Presently, Dr. Hillock is diligently working on a solution that will make new treatments available to those who do not qualify for the original transcutaneous Osseointegration surgery.
Another effort being made in the furtherance of Osseointegration and the improvement of the quality of life for pa-
tients is the study of how phantom limb sensation and phantom limb pain affects amputees. It has been discovered that, in some cases, amputees deal with phantom limb pain for the rest of their lives. Not on Dr. Hillock’s watch! The doctor has seen promising results in this regard through Osseointegration, as well. The coupling of prosthesis with an osseointegrated connection anchored into the bone (the femur or tibia) is a solution that minimizes, and even has the potential to eliminate, phantom limb sensation for patients.
“Osseoperception” is the return of some sensation to the limb or limbs, allowing for the patient to feel the texture of things like grass or gravel. The restoration of this ability (Tactile Feedback) is extremely vital to the quality of life of pa-
tients. The benefits include the return of some motor functions and better balance.
There is also a new treatment for those who have diabetes and had amputations as a result of their condition. This option (not Osseointegration) is also available to those with Peripheral Vascular Disease, which is a condition that is mostly due to problems from tobacco use, causing restricted blood flow, thus not delivering enough oxygen to vital parts of the body.
The next innovation in the care and treatment of amputees is a procedure called Targeted Reinnervation. Wherever there is a damaged nerve, the scarring is removed, and the nerve is placed inside a muscle not previously related to itself. This repairs and utilizes the nerve in a way that improves the patient’s overall mobility.
Making Osseointegration available to the general public is not as simple as one may believe. However, Dr. Ronald Hillock and his team are gearing up to do just that. They’re in the final phase of clearance for FDA certification. They must first undergo the Investigational Device Evaluation, part of the FDA certification process.
This groundbreaking surgery and technology can finally be made available to all surgeons, as well as generally available to the public. Once they’ve completed the final phase of the FDA authorization process, an Investigational Device Evaluation or IDE, they will no longer be limited in the number of surgeries they can perform.
Dr. Hillock has vast experience and has worked with everyone from wounded soldiers to athletes in the Paralympics. His work will continue to be a beacon, directing the surge of innovation in surgery and staying above and beyond the fray of the medical profession. MV

AN ALLIANCE for GREATNESS
Did you know that according to some national polls, The State of Nevada is ranked 50th in the nation when it comes to mental health services?
Dr. Faisal Suba and Dr. Daniel Park, two of the founding members of Alliance Mental Health Specialists, envisioned changing this statistic when they were in their Psychiatric Residency program through the University of Nevada-School of Medicine. They often talked about opening a small practice together when they graduated, but neither of them ever imagined that their practice would grow to the size that it is today.
“We saw a need and wanted to be part of the solution,” said Dr. Suba. “We would constantly hear how long it was taking for patients to get in to see a psychiatrist. We hoped by opening a large practice, we would be able to help some of these patients find consistent and compassionate care.” Founded in 2016, Alliance Mental Health Specialists has grown from 3 psychiatrists in Las Vegas, to 29 Psychiatric providers with an office in Las Vegas and Reno. Their highly qualified team consists of Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.
In addition to outpatient care, Alliance Mental Health Specialists also provide services at inpatient psychiatric hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, as well
as psychiatric consult services at medical hospitals in Nevada. Dr. Park says, “By having a presence at various different levels of care, we are able to provide continuity of care.”
Both Dr. Suba and Dr. Park are thankful for the ability to serve their patients’ needs but they also believe that helping to educate future psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants is extremely important in order to continue to further improve access to quality mental health care in Nevada. In addition to seeing patients, a substantial amount of their time is spent mentoring, lecturing, and rounding with students.
“Being trusted with the development of a young mental health professional is an honor and a privilege that we don’t take lightly,” says Dr. Suba. “Teaching students ensures that we keep our knowledge up to date. It’s also fulfilling knowing that these students will take what they learn from us and be able to help a countless number of people in the years to come. In Arabic, it is known as ‘Sadaqa Jaariah,’ which is a good act that is continuous even after you pass.”
“For me, Alliance is not just a business, it’s a family,” says Dr. Park. “We have known most of our providers since they were students or fellow residents. This familiarity and comfort level facilitates a supportive work environment.”
Dr. Suba and Dr. Park, along with their Partner, Dr. Ying-Chia Cheng, have worked tirelessly to provide high quality psychiatric care using evidence-based medicine. Through their efforts, they have earned the respect of patients, therapists, Doctors, and the community of Las Vegas. MV

SHERWOOD LUXURY GROUP
mily Sherwood, originally from Louisiana, learned the true meaning of southern hospitality and authenticity at an early age. Today, she is a quintessential Las Vegas luxury real estate professional. After attending college at the University of Kansas and the University of Colorado, Emily started her real estate career in Colorado, selling new homes for builders and custom developers. Emily moved to Las Vegas in 1988, opening the operations of a Colorado-based home builder. This move launched her career into the luxury market in Las Vegas. Celebrities, renowned public figures, Fortune 500 executives, professional athletes, and countless others have used the services of Emily Sherwood to assist them in finding their dream home here in the Las Vegas Valley. Her philosophy is to carefully evaluate each client’s dreams and desires and tirelessly work to match them with a property that exceeds their expectations.
Emily has established an impressive resume of real estate successes. During her
30+ years selling luxury properties, she has consistently remained a top producer. She maintained top sales status selling Spanish Trail, offering condos, townhomes, luxury homes and custom lots. She was also the Vice President/corporate Broker for the $4 billion dollar Lake Las Vegas development, pioneering its sales and marketing program selling luxury custom lots, builder products and other golf and resort properties for Trans-Continental Properties.
Emily continued to thrive, moving on to the startup of MacDonald Highlands as Vice President/Corporate Broker, debuting its custom lots and the opening of Dragon Ridge Golf club. Emily maintained her high level of sales and services at MacDonald Highlands, again helping clients realize their dream home on the perfect location. Due to requests from builder clients, Emily became managing partner of BOS Marketing Group, a consulting company offering full real estate sales and marketing services to builders and resort developments around the country.
After weathering the storm of the Las
Vegas recession, Emily joined Blue Heron, a local and successful design build firm. During her time with Blue Heron/ Pivot Modern, Emily was a trusted advisor to clients in finding their unique custom lot for the creation of a one-of-a-kind Blue Heron custom home selling over $180 million dollars in the custom home arena.
“I’ve been teaching Shannon about real estate since she was born. She loved seeing the models and the developments that I was involved in. My background was always working for high end developers and builders, from the early days of Spanish Trail, the startup of Lake Las Vegas and the early stages of MacDonald Highlands and Dragon Ridge Golf Club. While selling luxury custom homes for Blue Heron, Shannon also joined me there. This gave her some hands-on experience with the new home and custom process.”
In 2019, Emily and Shannon went all-in on the luxury real estate market. Emily shares, “I didn’t need to teach Shannon about customer service as it is part of who she is. The more we worked together, the

more we realized that this partnership was something that both of us enjoyed. It was destiny!”
Shannon says she has learned so many things from working with her mother, but maybe the most important is how much time, care, and respect she makes for each client. She leads her line of work with the utmost ethics and honesty and that separates her in the real estate industry. “She doesn’t ever think about herself, it is always about finding the best new chapter for her client.”
Emily says she has learned a lot from Shannon too. “We’ve learned that although we are related, being in business together highlights our different personalities, skills, and work styles.”
Shannon is a Las Vegas native so she knows the city well. Shannon’s degree in finance from Wake Forest, her background in sales, and her bubbly personality have helped them to analyze many facets of their business while keeping a sense of humor when times are tough. They also always find time to still be mother/daughter or else the business always creeps in and takes over.
Given their passion and sheer knowledge of the market, it’s no surprise this team has cultivated, “clients for life,” says Emily. “Our business is close to 96% referrals and former clients. We’re making dreams come true. Buying a house or property is one of your biggest investments. It can be wonderful and exciting. The key is exceptional customer service. Well, that and the countless partnerships the team has on speed dial. IS WHERE THE HEART IS HOME
Yvette Riggott’s love for family, the city, and her commitment to enriching our community motivates her to do her best daily. As a Las Vegas native, she strives to help her clients find the perfect home where they can build lasting memories of their own.
“I was born at Women’s Hospital on Sahara back when there were only 100,000 people living in Las Vegas. To this day, I still say it’s the biggest small city in the world. Everyone knows everyone and the sense of community is strong throughout the Valley.”
Yvette and her husband, Chris, are raising their three children in Las Vegas and marvel at the life afforded to their kids as the city continues to grow. Thriving with culture, recreation, and hospitality, Yvette recollects on entertainment options in the Valley then and now.
GK PROPERTIES
“UNLV basketball, the original Wet’n’Wild, and the Crystal Palace Skating Center, located off Boulder Highway raised me. There were no Raiders games and Cirque Du Soleil shows. I think it’s just amazing that we finally have professional sports teams for these children to get behind. When the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA finals, my kids lost their minds. Las Vegas now has a professional sports championship. I never thought I would say that!
Families moving to Vegas now are so beautifully spoiled for choice. When someone calls me from out-of-state and asks me, ‘What is there to do with my kids?’, I nearly fall out of my chair. What ISN’T there to do here? This is the best city in the world. From a local ski resort to ATV riding in the desert, we have it all.”
Yvette cherishes the time that she spends with her husband and the children and holds it of the upmost importance. With two children in elementary school and a 1-year-old, Yvette emphasizes that organization is a non-negotiable to manage a full-time business, and all the activities that her family attends on a weekly basis.
“Work-life balance is something I hold dear to my heart. Before real estate, I was working on the Strip and managing some of the most high-end restaurants that this city has to offer. However, the job became my life instead of it being a part of my life. I was missing nights at home and helping my kids do homework. Something really had to give. My husband had been mentioning real estate to me for years, but I just kept brushing it off. Hospitality was in my blood and all I had really ever known. I wasn’t comfortable leaving that life and starting from scratch with two young kids and no steady income. I eventually realized that the late nights were not sustainable and started to study for my license. Eight weeks later, I took my test and passed. I handed in my notice that same day and stared selfemployment in its big, scary face.
I had a handful of friends around me that really supported this career change and wanted only the best for me and my family. They sent me names and numbers of local realtors that they thought I should meet for coffee, escrow officers that had been doing this for a long time and lenders that could be a resource in the future.
One of the realtors that I just happened to meet was Rick Ruiz. A coffee at Einstein Bagels has turned into nearly 4 years of a work partnership. Joining forces with him was the best decision I could have ever made. I didn’t quite understand the powerhouse that I was going to be onboarding with, I just saw
a genuine guy that worked hard and really wanted to grow a team to help other agents become successful. I clearly had no idea what I was doing, but failure was not an option. I started going into the office every day and I just sat and listened to his phone calls, watched how he dealt with issues, asked questions about everything I was seeing. I must have driven him insane. However, I learned a lot. I tried to make sure I was the first to offer to do an open house, the first to offer to give a tour of a property, and soon, this turned into meeting clients and getting my first transaction done.
The first homeowner I helped was the sweetest young lady that called a yard sign on one of Rick’s listings. I went and met her, and we eventually found her the right house. She closed just before Halloween, and we still text each other to this day. Rick was in the middle setting up a NAHREP event and talked me through writing her contract while organizing that event on a boat on Lake Las Vegas. That’s the definition of teamwork.”
Since then, Yvette and Rick have closed many more deals together and she has been fortunate to rise in the Realtor ranks to be named in the Top 1% of Realtors in Clark County for 2021. She has also been named Top 25 Women in Real Estate for the last two years by the Women’s Council of Realtors.
“My broker, George, has also been my biggest supporter. He makes GK Properties feel like a family. I know I bother him constantly with my questions and requests for help when the inevitable issue arises, but he is one of the best guys out there. From gorgeous Christmas parties to the weekly team meetings, George really promotes a sense of family amongst us all and we are lucky to have him. He just relocated us all into our new office in Green Valley and it has been such a great move for us all. We now see one another every day and our brokerage bond is stronger than ever.”
When asked what aspect of this job makes Yvette the happiest, she was quick to answer. “When I am trusted to help someone make Las Vegas their home or sell their house that holds so many memories dear to them, I am always so humbled. To be asked to be a part of such a huge (and sometimes stressful!) time in someone’s life is not something I take lightly. I want to always do the best for my clients, but not just because this is my job. I want to do well because I take pride in fulfilling the role that I have been trusted with and making someone’s dreams come true. I wake up every day grateful I get to do something that I love. This job will put you on a roller coaster of emotions on the daily, but it’s a rewarding career and I love every aspect of what I do. Las Vegas is my home and my city. You would be hard pressed to find anyone that loves this city more than me.”
BROADENING THE BOUNDARIES
who I am are all here. From my friends when I was a child to my wonderful husband (Brian Vasek) who has been the best support system,” said Maryam.
who was so patient, so thoughtful, and explained everything to me. In turn, I was able to explain everything to my grandmother. This is why I went into personal injury,” says Maryam.
Maryam found her why. Her reason to not waste the opportunity given to her. She intimately understands that not everyone is as lucky as she. She knows that things could have been very different for her, had her parents not decided to be brave and leave everything they ever knew behind and begin all over. “Given the turmoil and ongoing Women led Revolution in Iran, I feel blessed
industry. I think we forget that sometimes. However, I try to be as patient with every single one of my clients as my attorney was with me and my grandmother. I explain and at times over explain processes so that my clients mind is at ease. With that said, I am also really honest. I won’t couch the issues and I will give you all of the facts so that you can make the best decision for yourself.”
THE MODERN VEGAN
By Daryl K. Joness you enter The Modern Vegan restaurant, you know you're in for great ambience, a killer menu and delicious cocktails. According to owner Gia Schultz, the inspiration behind the menu came from food she ate prior to becoming vegan. She wanted to satisfy the cravings and not compromise taste. She is the modern vegan.
The Modern Vegan (TMV) opened on March 15th, 2018 AND was inspired by the brunch spots in Toronto, Canada where owner, Gia Schultz, grew up. Gia has always been a huge “foodie” and she wanted to emulate that same vibe.
“The biggest misconception about vegan food is that it doesn’t taste as good as the ‘real’ thing” explains Gia. “I mean, I could see that being true six years ago, but not anymore. Right now, when it comes to plant-based meats and cheeses, even eggs (yes, we have vegan eggs), with some brands you honestly can’t tell the difference. It’s mind blowing. It’s not like 10 years ago, where the only vegan option was tofu and soy milk. Let’s be honest, the main reason people are scared of vegan food is because of the myth that we eat plain, tasteless, boring food which is totally not true.” The Modern Vegan has about 200 items on their menu right now, and Gia would say their most popular items would definitely be a three-way tie between their Chick’n and Waffles, their Louisiana Fried Chick’n and their Mac Attack Burger. The most surprising item on their menu would be the “Died and Gone to Heaven” dessert. It’s a deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich finished with powdered sugar and according to Gia, it’s “sooooo good.” Gia warns that you will dream about it, and that it’s literally addicting.
When asked about the growing popularity of veganism, Gia asserts, “I think the popularity
of veganism is growing because of the internet. A lot of things that have been hidden from the public for so many years are now coming to light and just the information that’s out there and available to us right at our fingertips just helps people make better, wellinformed choices.” She goes on to explain that when she was growing up, she had no way to fact check what she was being taught when it came to what was acceptable to eat. Gia makes the observation that the younger generation are thinking for themselves now, more so than any other generation, and that “animals and our environment are really important to them.” She also cites the many documentaries out there that have turned people off of meat and dairy just by exposing the injustices that animals go through as well as humans. But everyone has their own reason for going vegan. Most do it for the animals, many do it for their health and some do it for the environmental impact it has on earth, according to Gia. “No matter what your reasoning, there is never a better day than today to choose to go plant-based. It’s definitely a decision you won’t regret. It’s a positive thing to do,” says Gia.
As for what’s next for The Modern Vegan, they are in the early stages of franchising. For Gia, it’s super exciting and they’ve enjoyed the interest that is being shown in TMV nationwide. Gia submits, “My dream from the beginning was always to have a TMV in every major city and I’m working super hard in hopes that dream does become a reality one day. Either way, I am still beyond grateful for all the success I’ve had with The Modern Vegan up until now. Keeping my fingers crossed!”
The Modern Vegan has demonstrated that plantbased options do not have to be limited to the norm, nor do they have to be plain and tasteless. Not only does TMV create different and delicious Vegan meals, but the culture of self-care and environmentalism that they promote through doing so is something we definitely need as humans and caretakers of our planet. Gia is proving that everyone can be a modern vegan!

ylee Dean of Kylee Dean Designs laments that for many, Interior Design is viewed as a simple task of picking fabric and paint, or simply renewing a space with a splash of color.
For Kylee and her Team, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The nearly twentyyear luxury design veteran views design as an intimate journey, the marriage of a space to change and the will of her client, of bending the room or rooms into something more beautiful, of transforming an area into a compelling, fulfilling aesthetic.
The resulting effect can be incredible for those who get to experience the new space.
It doesn’t happen by accident. Kylee works closely with architects, builders, contractors and engineers to maximize talent and optimize outcomes. She says with a gleam in her eye that she loves designing secret spaces, including all things taboo. More on this subject will require a one on one with Kylee who asserts that confidentiality is guaranteed for her clientele.
Kylee’s clientele shows a pattern…they are professionals within their own industries, understand the value of time and trust that Kylee and her Team will manage their project with impeccable detail. Her design Team is known for delivering white glove, concierge level service to her clients, helping to manifest the best luxury experience and avoiding what can too often be a stressful endeavor.
The artistic journey always begins with an initial contact (walk-in, email or phone) where The Team assembles important client and project information for the principal designer. After that, every project requires a two-hour consultation during which Kylee and her assistant walks through the project room by room, gathering information and defining a specialized scope of work. When a client chooses to hire Kylee Dean Designs, they will receive an email update every Monday and the firm endeavors to keep all projects on time and on budget.
Whether it’s a massive penthouse project like her signature work on The Strip, a modern new build from start to finish, or a luxury redux in one of the better edges of the valley, Kylee is eager to change spaces and lives with her vision for something more beautiful.
CREATIVE. PASSIONATE. TALENTED. CARING. COMPETITIVE. BOLD.
hese are words often used to describe Anna Stewart Billings, this month’s cover girl for MyVegas Magazine. Among other things, Anna’s desire to empower women and children to be the best they can be is the reason she was chosen. Her desire to help and uplift others comes from a lifetime of learning – about people, about business, about hard knocks, but most importantly -- about herself.
In spite of Anna’s rather humble beginnings, she always set her aspirations high. Many opportunities were placed in front of her throughout her life – each one building on the next. If someone told Anna she couldn’t do something, it only drove her resolve to do that thing and do it better than anyone else.
That desire to do it better than anyone else shows up in everything Anna does. Fiercely competitive, it’s a rare day you will find Anna quietly managing the Anne Fontaine boutique at Caesar’s Forum Shoppes, which is why her store consistently ranks as #1 in sales in the world for Anne Fontaine. A typical day for Anna has her on the phone placing orders for clients from hundreds of miles
away, changing out the fashions in the store’s front windows, ensuring her employees are calling clients regarding new items that have been released – and that’s just in the first two hours. Anna cares deeply about the success of her store and her employees and knows that she couldn’t be successful without them.
She also cares deeply about disadvantaged women and children in our Las Vegas community which is what led her to get involved in the many charities she works with. Giving back is something that is extremely important to Anne Fontaine, which is what inspired Anna to get involved. Anna’s work with charities mostly involves creating high-end fashion shows with Anne Fontaine’s beautiful clothing. A non-exhaustive list of charities includes: St. Jude’s Ranch for Children and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Best Buddies, Hope for Prisoners, America the Beautiful, Awareness is Prevention, Miss Asia, The American Cancer Society and the Forgotten Song Foundation. Anna is a huge supporter of St. Jude's Hospital. As their Heart of Fashion Co-Chair, Anna recently wrapped a fashion show that raised more money for St. Jude’s than ever!
Anna’s work has earned her numerous awards. She placed among the Top 100 Women in Las Vegas three times and was awarded the Best Buddies Champion of the Year in 2019. This is an award that Anna is extremely proud of because it honors Anna’s passion for empowering others. She was also recently awarded the Athena Award in 2021 and inducted into the 2022 Nevada Women’s Hall of Fame.
That passion crossed over to her home life when she adopted her youngest son nearly 18 years ago -- a drug baby from a troubled home. Anna knew that she and her husband could make a significant difference in the young man’s life. Their caring devotion was rewarded when their son graduated from high school 2 years ago, and is now involved in a school program.
Anna packs a lot into the few spare moments she gets outside her work and philanthropic activities. She enjoys hiking, traveling, antiquing and dressing up for afternoon tea with her friends. You will always find Anna Stewart Billings with sparkling eyes and a dazzling smile – ready to take your hand and take on the world, one step at a time.
STAY PIN-SPIRED
TThey say a little bit of inspiration goes a long way. We’ve never seen this phrase embraced so wonderfully and fully until we met Leslie Elton. To truly understand this about Leslie, we would need to rewind the clock to two years ago when Leslie became the owner of Pinspiration Henderson, your favorite local craft studio.
Starting this new journey with a company she was ecstatic about; it was time to make a vision board for her future goals and aspirations. Of course, making art as she does. One of these special aspirations was being featured as one of MYVEGAS’ Top 100 Women of Influence. Little did she know that just two short years later, not only has Leslie propelled herself to become one of our Top 100 Women, but she has also graced our front cover. Above everything, family always comes first to Leslie. She is a business owner, a woman who gives back to her community, and someone who brings together families, friends, and strangers to create lasting memories.
As much as Leslie stays inspired, she also – perhaps unknowingly – inspires people daily at Pinspiration. For those who haven’t had to chance to visit, Pinspiration is a one-stop-shop craft studio with activities for groups and couples, a full wine and beer bar, and so much more. Their expansive list of possible projects include candle making, acrylic pour art, charcuterie resin board building, and making your own Harry Potter inspired Wizard Wand, just to name a few.
Leslie stresses, “Previous artistic ability is not needed!” Really, no previous art degree is required. “It is a place for everyone!” This is a place to sit back and enjoy your time with family and friends, and before you know it, you’ve created something beautiful. And did we mention the wine and beer bar?
Feel inspired to take part in self-guided or instructor-led workshops, with as little or as much guidance as you’d like.
All the supplies you’ll need are made available, including multiple shelves full of embellishments (at no extra cost) needed to create your very own masterpiece. Their most well-known attraction would be their Jackson Pollock-inspired Splatter Room, where you and friends can flick paint onto a canvas, and sometimes each other- with protective gear, of course. You can be a work of art, too!
There are so many possibilities in one place. From date night and girl’s night to a place to take the kids for the afternoon and beyond, the options are endless. Set with a special VIP room, this can even be the destination for your next teambuilding event, your child’s birthday party (or your own!), or your very own bachelorette party. There’s nothing that brings people together quite like arts and crafts!
Leslie would be the first to tell you that Pinspiration was everything she never knew she wanted until it was right in front of her. It was a crafting studio, a wonderful business to be a part of, but it was so much more than that. She gets to see her hopes and dreams unfold before her and come to fruition. She gets to witness and be a part of people’s core memories with their families and loved ones. She gets to meet so many amazing people from so many different places. And most importantly, she, and everyone at Pinspiration, have the rare opportunity to bring forth creativity and inspiration to people that didn’t know they had it in them. And it all starts with a little pin-spiration!
A TRIBUTE A TRIBUTE
In a 2020 press release, the AARP announced our country had 53 million informal caregivers and estimated the value of the care they provide exceeded 400 billion dollars annually. Both of these astounding numbers have grown substantially, since AARP began monitoring the number of informal caregivers in our country. An informal caregiver is usually an unpaid individual who is providing the care and support a loved one needs to remain in their own home. Their duties can require several hours a week, to 24 hours a day. These caregivers go largely unnoticed, but they make up a growing army of unsung heroes in healthcare. A portion of that army resides in Las Vegas and its surrounding communities. Stories of Silent Sacrifice offers a glimpse into the lives of ten of them, as this writer attempts to personalize their role. Perhaps seeing these informal caregivers in a personal light, our population and our health care providers will become more aware of their contributions to healthcare. What might we do to help them? Caregivers in this book care for persons that require fulltime care. I plan to use my assigned page in this and upcoming editions of MyVegas, to highlight several of these
Most informal caregivers are family members of the person whose care they are providing. This is true of Maggie, who is the fulltime caregiver for her older brother who has survived a stroke. This stroke left him unable to move one side of his
body. The stroke also left him with difficulty expressing himself. Maggie has been his caregiver, his sister, and perhaps most importantly, his advocate.
The caregiver role was not new to Maggie. She recalls life as a pre-teen after her father left. She realized even then her mother needed emotional support. Eventually, her father returned home. She was able to leave, and experience life as an adult. She married twice, both marriages failed. She traveled for a job she loved, writing for a newspaper.
Maggie was living in Arizona when her brother moved back to their parents’ home. One day, his estranged wife asked Maggie to go to that house and find him. Maggie found him on the floor of his room. She could see he had experienced a stroke. When he recovered, to the degree he would recover, he asked if he could live with her. She recalled a time in her early teens when she needed love and support, and he was the only one there. She agreed.
Maggie tells her life story interjecting many humorous events, along with all the emotional trauma she has been through. She believes she was always meant to be a caregiver, but urges those who are considering this role, to know that the most important thing is to love the person they are caring for. This sentiment is echoed by all the caregivers featured in the book, Stories of Silent Sacrifice. – Dr. Rosemary Henrich, DNP
THE GROWING ARMY OF UNSUNG HEROES IN HEALTHCARE
THESE CAREGIVERS GO LARGELY UNNOTICED
ost home sellers and real estate agents have heard that staging a home helps a home sell for more money in less time. These advantages alone are significant and deserve a lot of fanfare. What many fail to recognize is the impact a staged home has over a vacant property (or poorly showcased occupied home) throughout the entire buying process.
For instance, if you're reading the news, we know that currently along the Sun Belt cities such as Las Vegas, we are seeing a higher statistic of homes falling out of contract. When homes are staged, people are much less likely to back out.
The reason is that the buyer(s) have already fallen in love with a home that is merchandised to enhance all the features of a home. Good staging creates a vision for the property and mitigates potential pain points that may come up after the ink has dried and they enter the escrow process. Buyers stay excited because they can visualize how they can live there, who will use what room, what one or all of them will do as a family in their free time. They see how they can lay out their furniture and fix it up until they can afford bigger renovations and realize just how nice their future home already is in the meantime. We know that buying a home is an emotional investment, as well as likely their most significant investment, so falling in love with a home and being able to truly visualize their lifestyles there are impactful influences that ward off the “cold feet” effect. A well-priced, properly merchandised home will always outperform an empty house that doesn't welcome you in like a warm hug.
Now that we have ushered in a new generation of buyers that are attuned to beautiful images on social media, in magazines, and in HGTV spin-offs, image reigns supreme. As humans, we love a good story and fantasize about what our own next great story will be in life!
To that point, one mistake home sellers make is “decorating” to sell a home to their tastes. Remember, we are not re-buying our own home! A good rule of thumb is to consider that the age we were when we bought our home is likely the age of the new buyer, and in that time, trends have changed, lifestyles, etc. There are generational differences between us and those that follow. Get inside of the likely buyer demographic for your likely buyer pool. This is how staging differs from decorating. When you speak in the language of the buyer, they are listening! A romance has occurred, and this is the cement that carries a sale through from the first tour to closing day!
This is one way we at Utopia Home Staging get to be part of a win-win between the seller and the buyer. It’s the premise of our company name, and our mission!
A VIBRANT YOU...
AvivaBleu became the first distributor of Nature’s Sunshine health and wellness products in 1972 and continues that distinction to the present. As the President / Owner of AvivaBleu, I’m extremely excited about our future.
Over the years I’ve witnessed the positive results, on a personal level and professional level, of a lifestyle incorporating diet, exercise, herbs and vitamins.
I was first introduced to the holistic health and wellness selfcare community while searching for remedies and treatments for my oldest daughter. She began to experience some health issues early in her life and conventional treatments were not providing the relief she needed. The solutions we discovered lead us to enjoying many life-long health benefits!
I’m very proud and humbled to have been, and continue to be, a part of many successful organizations in the US and around the globe. They give back in countless ways to the ongoing wellness of millions of individuals as well as yours truly.
It’s my hope and desire that more of us will continue to go forward in the healthiest way possible for each of us.
If someone calls an attorney and nobody answers the phone, that attorney just may have missed a $10,000 call. The potential client is just going to call another attorney. If a person calls for a lawyer and gets no answer, they are going to go down their list of attorneys until they do. This is perhaps one of the best benefits of using a live answering service; it means better service for existing clients, and never having to miss out on potential clients.
Enter McGhee and Associates, a Minority owned business that provides live call center services for businesses throughout the United States. Headquartered in Las Vegas, NV, they have a 100% remote based workforce, are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and have live agents answering calls. Their center is fully operational during all holidays, and has a bilingual staff as well. Government sector clients have been the focus of the company. This includes municipalities such as housing authorities, city water & sewer departments, and other public entities such as educational institutions, and hospitals. However, they are currently looking to get into the private sector to serve attorneys, private doctors, HVAC companies, etc. For example, one of the services that they offer private doctors is a HIPAA-compliant message service, meaning confidential messages will be kept secure behind a passwordprotected portal. Combined with solutions such as mobile text paging, web on-call scheduling, appointment setting / patient screening, live-call patching, and customized scripts, McGhee and associates provide useful services to suit every need.
How does a business benefit from answering services/ appointment scheduling? For one, employing an answering service with live representatives/agents that operates every day, all day, allows for companies to give their clients unbridled access to the services they provide. Also, the client has the surety of knowing that they can speak with a live person (even after hours) as opposed to an automated service or general voice mail. The added benefit is that revenue increases from having an answering service that is answered by live reps.
McGhee and Associates also makes registering for their services quite painless. They have a commonsense approach to how they onboard new businesses. Initial consultation will include meeting with one of their experts (via a Zoom meeting) to determine all of your needs. This is a discovery call to make sure that they align their services with the solutions that you actually need. During the onboarding process, a designated Account Manager will be assigned, and they will be with you every step of the way. After discovery, they will customize a service package for you. With their flexible billing, your billing plan can also be adjusted at any time. Once you are set up, you will have access to analytics and dashboards that include call details, as well as statistical reports, etc. They will also customize these reports at the clients request. For companies that want to achieve a higher level of customer service and increase their earning potential, McGhee and Associates is definitely worth the call.

BABYDOESMAKEUP BABYDOESMAKEUP
AND MUCH, MUCH MORE
By: Daryl K. JonesII
magine, if you will a young girl in a dimly lit attic. Only to this young girl, this particular attic is much, much more. It is a wonderland filled with posters and costumes and jewelry and shoes and wigs and makeup. All remnants from a curiously transitional period in the history of entertainment. A period where both the taboo and the risqué meet the comedic: Vaudeville. Imagine that young girl in the attic rummaging through costumes in trunks, pulling out drawers in bureaus, and trying on pearls. Imagine her drowning in an oversized red sequin gown, looking in the mirror with stars in her eyes. Now, imagine this little girl growing up to be just as glamorous today as she was in the childhood fantasies of her youth.
Enter, Bebé Ellison, owner of BABYDOESMAKEUP&MORE. A modern renaissance woman whose personal brand of wisdom, strength, and beauty is both inspiring and infectious. She is the make-up artist to the stars, working with such names as Wendy Williams, Joan Rivers, and R&B/Pop star Akon, to name a few. Her experience goes beyond entertainment, however. One factor that separates her from other make-up artists is her experience as a private investigator, where she relied on her own make-up skills to help change her look. "You know you’re badass when you can stand next to people who have met you and they do not know it is you," boasts Ellison. She was inspired by what she had seen in that attic years ago, and she hasn't looked back since.
Bebé Ellison prides herself on her ability to personify the element of service. This proves to be true not only in her professional life, but in her personal life as well. She is currently venturing into the nonprofit sector by combining efforts with bestbuddies.org, an organization that works to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their focus is on programs that create opportunities for one-to-one
friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for the intellectually and developmentally challenged. "One of my love languages is servitude," explains Ellison. "I use my talent for make-up and styling to assist people with disabilities and show them how to prepare themselves for the world.” Noble work, indeed.
For over 25 years, Bebé Ellison has been honing her skills and sharpening her keen and stylish eye. She is now considered one who can be counted on among the trailblazers in the world of fashion, beauty, and art. She also runs a trendy boutique filled with original pieces created by her designer partners, where everything is one-of-three. That is to say that the boutique only carries three of everything and once the piece is gone, it's gone. Ellison also runs an art gallery with limited edition pieces. This means that she is uniquely positioned as an artist who can not only style you, but one who can potentially style your home as well. The bottom line is, if it's beauty, it's Bebé.
Bebé Ellison has come a long way from the young girl in the attic. She is a testament to hard work, passion, an innovative spirit, and creativity leading to success and the perfection of one's craft. She continues to be of service through her volunteerism, and she will remain influential in the space in which she operates for years to come.
A VEGAS MUSIC ICON
KELLY VOHNN’S LATEST AND GREATEST PERFORMANCES AND PROJECTS
“Challenging” and “interesting” and “trying” are words, I think, we can all agree - are good descriptors for the times we are living in today. For me, I am very grateful and thankful to be involved in so many different shows and appearances right now. To be able to commit myself to making other people’s lives better and maybe doing a little to help them escape all the craziness for even an evening out and a great show.
My career has taken quite the curve and I’m enjoying every moment of this new ride. Originally from Toronto, Canada, my three children and I moved here about 20 years ago. Over the years, I performed in shows on and off the Las Vegas Strip. I was featured in shows such as “A Country Christmas” at the Plaza, “Rock Fantasy” at Hooters, “Vegas Gone Country” at Planet Hollywood and just very recently “Reckless In Vegas” at the Sahara, a Michael Shapiro production.
From a solo recording artist, to being in Legends shows, to touring with greats like Lou Gramm, John Payne, Fee Waybill, Greg Rollie, Tony Lewis and so many more, I’ve enjoyed every aspect of my career. More recently I recorded my Christmas CD simply titled “A Kelly Vohnn Christmas” and will be celebrating the
release of the CD at the Gambit, Gatsby’s Supper Club on November 15.
Since the pandemic I have produced a number of very unique shows in almost every genre. My country show, entitled “The Women In Me” is the longest running show where I impersonate legendary ladies of country such as Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Shania Twain and Patsy Cline. I have a Barbra Streisand Show entitled “Barbra Streisand Through The Years “ where I am thrilled to have the opportunity to sing so many fabulous songs for an audience - under the musical direction of the amazing Keith Thompson, no less! And just recently, I did a project with one of this town’s greatest showmen, Harry Shahoian, called “Decades of Iconic Duets,” a project Harry and I began a couple of years ago at the request of Larry Rudolph and Da’Lyn Bauman.
Which brings us to today! I’m super excited to announce my brand new project! I am collaborating with the award winning producer and all around amazing woman, Jennifer Romas from “Sexxy” and “Exxcite”. The show opens January 22 and is a limited engagement at Notoriety. This show, “She’s Making HERstory” (a fun, sexy journey of life), is all about empowering women at every stage and age of life. Complete with “show boys” and lots of tongue in cheek humor. There will be fun songs, tearjerker songs and even a couple of Kelly Vohnn original songs. Frankie Moreno is co-writing on a song and Chadwick Johnson is co-writing on another song. This show features a weekly guest singer and includes the fantastic talents of Chadwick Johnson and Mark Otoole. Harry Shahoian will be the “Valentine’s Show” guest and –trust me, many more surprises. This show is family-friendly, and everyone is guaranteed to have a good time. The show runs on Sundays at 7pm and tickets are on sale now. Hope to see you there!
Congratulations
Courtney Murphy for being recognized as a “Top 100 Women of Influence”KIMBERLY ALEXANDER PASSION WITH A PURPOSE
By: Daryl K. JonesEvery so often, we come across the story of someone who has an undeniable will to succeed regardless of whatever seemingly impossible odds they are facing, or hardships they have endured. More often than not, these individuals serve as an inspiration to others. Such is the story of Kimberly Alexander, Las Vegas REALTOR® with the Alexander-Branson Team at Realty One Group. Kimberly’s story is as equally ironic as it is iconic, symbolizing that one never truly knows where the trajectory of one’s life will ultimately lead them.
Despite being an award-winning REALTOR®, Kimberly Alexander never saw herself making a living in the real estate industry. It was only after a debilitating car accident that she would make that leap of faith. A bizarre series of events all seemed to build on each other. Kimberly’s in-laws had moved in with her and her husband. Unfortunately, her father-in-law passed away after that. The family was already in a very somber place. Then, on the way to the funeral home, they were in a bad car accident. The most alarming damage was to her memory.
“In a way, the accident led to my commitment to real estate,” explains Kimberly. “I had spent 30 years of my life in the pharmaceutical industry, which is a funny story in and of itself. I had taken on a temporary position as a debt specialist at a hospital. My boss suggested I apply for a position that had opened in the pharmacy department because he thought I’d be good at it. At the time, I knew next to nothing about that department or medication for that matter. But my boss had faith in my ability, so I applied. They hired me on the spot!”
Before the accident, her husband had been urging her to join him in the real estate industry, and she had no interest. “I had a good, steady job - why mess with a good thing? But when an accident left me unable to immediately return to pharmacy work, I began to rethink the idea. I saw how much good I could do for my community,” states Kimberly.
After the accident, and being unable to return to work, she had the time to think about what she wanted. She saw the opportunities in joining her husband and decided that it wasn’t such a bad idea after all. “I knew one thing was for certain: if I was going to change careers, I was going to take it seriously. Real estate couldn’t just be a hobby,” Kimberly said. “It would be my professional business. My husband was thrilled, and he also promised to buckle down and work harder than ever.”
Though they started as a husband-and-wife duo, they have grown to a team of five agents who specialize in both residential and commercial real estate. Their exceptional level of service, integrity and professional experience coupled with the multiple resources they provide clients has earned them an excellent reputation. One in which their team is extremely proud of and strives to
improve upon with every transaction. Kimberly and her team are committed to constantly learning and staying atop of the everchanging real estate market.
Their dedication to providing an exceptional real estate experience to their clients has led them to being one of the top producing teams for the last several years in their office, as well as earning Gold in the Best of Las Vegas for 2021. They have achieved several designations and certifications: including Accredited Buyers Representative, Certified Residential Specialist, Ally-LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, Certified Probate Real Estate Specialist, Military Relocation Professional, Military Veteran Housing Certified, and Senior Real Estate Specialist, among others. Also, they have a track record for assisting charities, such as St. Jude Children Research Hospital Dream Home Giveaway, A Path 4 Paws, Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, Project 150 and the Women at Westcare.
Kimberly is a member of the Summerlin Rotary Club, as well as assisting the American Cancer Society. To that end, Kimberly was recognized in 2021 for all of her community service by earning the Good Neighbor Award from the Las Vegas REALTORS® Association. Out of 18,000+ agents in Clark County, Kimberly was one of 2 agents selected for this honor.
There is something to be said for someone who is able to take their personal suffering and turn it around for the public good. Just as the oyster takes an irritant such as a grain of sand (which causes it great discomfort) and turns it into a jewel, Kimberly Alexander, The Alexander-Branson Team and Realty One Group are the pearls of the Las Vegas real estate market.
There is real strength that comes from identifying your weaknesses, particularly in your relationships. As relationships can be a huge part of our lives, enjoying them – you would think- would be an everyday goal for couples everywhere. However, there are way too many people out there not enjoying each day with their partners or haven’t identified the issues stopping them from meaningful connections.
Karen Williams, Owner of Coach4Life, faced similar challenges herself when her and her husband married almost 30 years ago. Through coaching and mentorship, the benefits for their relationship have lasted the test of time. As Karen began encountering too many married couples in her community that weren’t living their marriage to the fullest, it was time to make a change. She knows first-hand, a healthy marriage relationship is possible.
Coach4Life is a personal, premarital and marriage coaching practice that aims to transform your relationships. What started out as a volunteer service to her community turned into a passion. For Karen, it’s all about uncovering unhealthy habits, and having those difficult conversations that lead to breakthrough, “Aha” moments. Whatever the reasoning behind seeking coaching, everyone deserves to rediscover their “WHY”.
You never realize how important it is to have a great mechanic until something serious breaks on your car- or, worse, the oh-so ominous rattle sound begins. You know the type, the kind that makes you turn your radio volume up. The perfect mechanic to take on those mysterious sounds and rumbles, including, but not limited to, everything from electrical to engine/ transmission replacements, is right around the corner. For pretty much everything from bumper to bumper, just see My Mechanic! Led by owner, Bonnie Curtis, My Mechanic Auto Services is the neighborhood’s most trustworthy place for all your auto needs.
A woman owned business, Bonnie adds the much-needed feminine touch to a male dominated industry, which sets them miles apart. While she didn’t know much about the industry when she began, she took on the challenge with the assistance of her son who was a well versed and experienced technician. She soaked up the information like a sponge. They say a woman’s drive is a powerful thing, and Bonnie’s passion to master the car industry 8 years ago has led her to an incredible team, business, and a community of lifelong clients.
Bonnie and her team pride themselves on being the customers advocate. Along with the importance of having quality, high skilled service technicians, it’s also important to Bonnie that her
team translates problems and solutions in a way that the customer can understand. Being transparent and having respect for the customer is always the priority. She shares, “We are never after the quick buck. No way. We are hoping and looking to earn people’s trust for a long-term relationship.” While some might try to have their customers in and out, My Mechanics are efficient, thorough, and, if necessary, put their heads together to figure out the most puzzling issues.
Where some auto service companies lack, Bonnie and her team shine. Bonnie is confident in saying, “My service advisors have years experience and care about all concerns of their client.” My Mechanic’s reviews speak for themselves. Again, transparency at its finest!
In Vegas especially, car maintenance is so important. Getting everything you want in an auto repair shop, in one place, might have been challenging in the past. But My Mechanic provides talent, trust, and the time it takes to provide quality service. Bonnie would add to that, “Our honesty, customer service, humor, and down to earth mentality. And did I say honesty?” They are visible proof that a great business is run on great people. It has never been easier to trust My Mechanic!
LEGAL PROBLEMS ARE HARD
LET AT EASE LAW MAKE THEM EASIER
Its name inspired by making even the most stressful legal processes painless, At Ease Law is Las Vegas’ bestand easiest- choice for legal representation in Las Vegas.
Melissa Barry, the firm’s Owner and Lead Attorney, has one goal in mind: tackling your legal problems with ease. With her focus set on criminal defense, family law and estate planning, Melissa has a passion for helping people with their most personal and serious cases. We are pleased to introduce Melissa to our readers as one of our MYVEGAS Top 100 Lawyers of 2022.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO LAS VEGAS? WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT LAS VEGAS?
My family moved here when I was a senior in high school. I attended college at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. After that I went back to Ohio for law school, but it was here that was my home so as soon as I completed law school I came back. I love the diversity and various cultures that you can find here. I love the world class entertainment, the weather, and the restaurants. Las Vegas is home.
WHAT AREAS DOES YOUR PRACTICE PRIMARILY FOCUS ON?
I focus on criminal defense and estate planning, while also doing a significant amount of family law. Each of these areas of law are surprisingly related. My passion is helping people when they need it the most. These areas of law let me help people in ways that play to my strengths so I can be the best advocate for them.
WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED IN YOUR FIELD?
I circle back to my passion to help people, and wherever I can do that is where I want to be. People come to me with a problem for me to solve for them. Whether the problem is a recent arrest or citation, a custody battle or divorce, or taking care of family members when they are not able to, I get to help them navigate the legal system and achieve their goals.
BEING A TRIAL LAWYER, WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT BEING IN THE COURTROOM?
I love the competition. I always joke, or maybe not joke, that “I don’t come to play. I come to win.” And it’s true. But it’s not just about winning. I prepare thoroughly so that I know the case better than anyone else. It’s the challenge. As a trial lawyer, I must know the law of my case without having to research. I must actively listen to questions and answers and know the objections. I must preserve my client’s rights for appeal. A lot of that is done in the courtroom and takes a very specialized expertise.
WHAT CAN A CLIENT EXPECT WHEN THEY CHOOSE YOU TO
REPRESENT THEM?
My clients can expect the best. We represent our clients to the best of our ability- every single time. We also value the customer service aspect of business. We strive to make our clients feel like they have a friend walking them through the challenges they are facing. We know that when faced with any legal issue, knowledgeable, friendly, and caring support is necessary while getting results. We’re proud to offer an ease that can’t be found anywhere else.

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN HOLISTIC & WESTERN MEDICINE
WHAT IS ANSWER4CANCER? We're a 501c3 here in Las Vegas that provides holistic services free of charge to those with active cancer. While going through western treatment, we provide support, enhance their quality of life, and hope to extend lifespans. With medical bills adding up, it can be hard to afford these services, so we're here to help.
WHO CAN RECEIVE CARE FROM A4C? Anyone with active cancer can enjoy our programs because we realize all cancers matter. We have men, children and women that have loved their experience inside a4c. What's been interesting is a majority of the people that come to us are stage four and all are different diagnoses, whether it be breast, colon, lymphoma, glioblastoma, lung, and others. Our youngest has been under the age of 5 and our oldest has been over 75.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PROGRAMS YOU OFFER? Fresh pressed juices during chemo, infrared, massage, acupuncture, chiropractic, yoga, meditation, nutrition, vegan facials, and oxygen spa baths are some of the great highlights that we offer. Our kid's program, "Rainbows & Bubbles" (juices and spa bath) has been a huge hit! When someone is participating in our programs consistently, there's a synergy that's created and a new hope within them emerges. We've had people come to us with three months to live and it's been over a year already and they're thriving. We've also had others go into remission. There's something to be said about a great support system, strong mindset, body movement, sleep, and feeling good on the inside and out that really uplifts someone. The benefits of holistic doesn't receive enough credit, and we're here to change that.
WITH LAS VEGAS BEING A GENEROUS COMMUNITY, WHAT ARE WAYS PEOPLE CAN HELP? As we all know, holistic services are not cheap, so we rely on our community to help us stay at our best! WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Susan Feneck has shed light on juvenile justice reform for twenty-five years, but who is the person behind it all? She has been nominated in our Top 100 Doctors, Top 100 Women of Influence, featured as the Woman of the Week, and now Woman of the Year! Her relentless passion is awe inspiring. Her life story could fill this entire magazine, but we captured just a few questions to get to know our very first MYVEGAS Woman of the Year.
Q: WHEN AND HOW DID YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN AS AN ADVOCATE FOR AT-RISK YOUTH?
A: I was bullied in school and put down by teachers, coaches, and other students. Being in remedial classes didn’t help; I’d cover my books in paper grocery bags, show up to class as late as possible, and that stuck with me, leading me to do what I’m doing today with youth that struggle on so many levels. Everyone has a purpose, mine is to be here to help, heal, guide, educate and advocate for youth and families in need. Working with youth can be both challenging and rewarding. The reward of seeing growth is incredibly gratifying, the struggles motivate me to make a difference, and it is my life’s mission.
Q: WHO INSPIRED YOU AND WHY?
A: My parents, aunts, and uncles mostly. Their stories of overcoming extreme diversity quite honestly pushed me to this day, their stories about lessons of strength were nearly unbelievable. I was very blessed to have a strong and loving family, the most beautiful parents ever. They taught me priceless life lessons daily. As children, we lived in the West end, we had our gang and we are all still friends to this day. We got through it all.
Q: WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO HAVE BEEN NOMINATED WOMAN OF THE YEAR?
A: It is an enormous honor. JJI gives back so much for our community and the community gives so much support to JJI, the nomination really goes to all we are doing together to be the change and make the difference in our youth and families. It’s a reminder that dreams do come true. I wanted to have an impact on our community, and it hit me, Juvenile
Justice Impact, and that turned into now a 501(c)3.
Q: I’M SURE YOU HAVE HAD MANY UPS AND DOWNS OVER 25 YEARS?
A: When times are going great, I only relish in that very briefly because I’m always on the move with different goals… when the chips are down, I completely cling to how I even got to those good times. Always do your best, be the best version of yourself, know you are never guaranteed the next day. Give thanks and gratitude for everything and everyone; never take anything or anyone for granted, ever. Live, love and be the example.
Q: YOU WON THE COVER FOR WOMAN OF THE YEAR, WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO INCLUDE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH YOU?
A: The past 25 years have challenged me with the most unfathomable sacrifices and incredible rewards, however especially these past 4+ years of being the Founder of Juvenile Justice Impact wasn’t achieved by just me. The people on the cover are my friends, my family. They have volunteered time, raised money, donated, and are on my Board of Directors, you name it. Without them, we don’t have JJI. The first big word my parents taught me how to spell as a child when I was given a used bike was “appreciate” when I wrote a note of thanks to who gave it to me. I appreciate and love them all so much, I could have never gone on this cover by myself as Juvenile Justice Impact is not a solo act.

NEET Design Group has landed in Vegas making an impact. Having expanded from Newport Beach, October marks their one-year anniversary. But don’t let that fool you- the word has gotten out!
This year, they have matched up with investors and completed five Airbnb’s in Las Vegas, Scottsdale, and Cleveland. Nenah Washington is the Principal Designer, leading a team of talented designers and artists that outperform by insisting on and delivering desirable spaces that suit the owner/client.
“One of my favorite projects is the recently completed Eyediology Vision Care Store in Summerlin. It was time for a refresh, and we were able to hone in on the style of the owners. One of the challenges was the small frame that comes with working on a Boutique. I promise you; the smaller dimensions only enhanced our creative efforts. The same holds true for our residential projects; a condo, 2nd home, or spacious floorplan we deliver style not just trends.”
Factor in Nenah’s background in Fashion, her real estate license, her schooling in Interior Design, and it all makes sense. Her wellrounded background has blended into a secret sauce leading to a trail of happy clients.
NURSIE COSMETICS NURSIE COSMETICS AND AESTHETICS WELLNESS SPA B B
ringing a new and redefined perspective to a medical spa, Nursie Cosmetics and Aesthetics Wellness Spa is your one stop shop for beauty and wellness. Offering allencompassing services from PDO Thread Lifts and Non-Surgical Butt Lifts, to filler and Botox, Owner and Cosmetic Nurse Practitioner, Ishyia "Shy" Smith, shares how Nursie shines brighter than the rest.
HOW DOES YOUR APPROACH TO COSMETIC PROCEDURES DIFFER FROM THOSE OF YOUR COMPETITORS? Being a highly skilled injector, I also relate treatments to my client's overall wellbeing. This is a crucial component that some people may not assess during the first initial assessment when creating one’s treatment plan. Beauty and wellbeing will always correlate with one another.
WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT FROM OTHER MEDICAL SPAS IN THE LAS VEGAS AND SURROUNDING AREAS? Nursie Cosmetics is unique because not only will we treat those looking to enhance their beauty, but we will also help to correct problems related to previous medical conditions one could have experienced in the past.
WHAT METHODS DO YOU UTILIZE TO COMPLY WITH INDUSTRY REGULATIONS? I am a current member of the American Med Spa Association (AMSpa). This organization was created for professionals in the cosmetic/aesthetic industry to assist with compliance and regulations state by state. As a current
provider in 2 states, this ensures I stay compliant for both practices.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE, IF YOU HAVE ONE, AND WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU. My target audience is women. I want women to feel good about themselves. As women, we tend to lose ourselves when fulfilling roles in our lives such as being a mom, wife, sister, or a friend to others. However, men are always welcome as clients at Nursie!
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR POTENTIAL CLIENTS ON WHAT TO ASK/LOOK FOR, WHEN SEEKING OUT A KNOWLEDGEABLE PRACTICE FOR INJECTABLE SERVICES? Be sure to make sure you know where an injector completed trainings/school. Ask the injector about his/her best-selling procedures currently in practice. Ensure the injector explains your treatment and discusses a plan of care with overall goals.
WHAT REGULATIONS ARE DIFFERENT HERE IN NEVADA? FOR EXAMPLE; BOTOX (IN NEVADA, YOU CANNOT PURCHASE IT BY THE UNIT YET, IN CHICAGO YOU CAN). In Nevada, you can operate a medical spa as a Nurse Practitioner. The great thing about this is having a great deal of autonomy. I can operate and run my practice to what I prefer or would like to do. A con of working in Nevada is that we require a consumer to buy 1 vial of Botox, while in Chicago you can sell Botox by the unit.
WHAT IMPACT DO YOU PLAN TO MAKE IN THE LAS VEGAS MARKET? WHAT IS YOUR LONG/SHORT-TERM VISION? I plan to transform the aesthetic industry for those who would like to get cosmetic and aesthetic treatments, but
lack the knowledge on where to start. Many individuals do not know their options unless you educate them on it. Long term goals include expanding my practice locations to Chicago, IL and Miami, FL.
HOW DO YOU STAY CURRENT ON NEWER NONSURGICAL PROCEDURES AND TECHNIQUES? WHERE DO YOU LEARN AND RECEIVE ADDITIONAL TRAININGS/CERTIFICATIONS FROM? I follow trends for most procedures through online courses and professional social media pages. Additionally, I complete trainings with Empire Medical and work to continuously enhance my education. I also make sure to attend the major cosmetic conferences twice a year.

WHAT KIND OF CHANGES ARE HAPPENING IN THE
II LAS VEGAS LAS VEGAS
love Las Vegas! I was born in Las Vegas! We have had a robust real estate market. Since we have survived the economic crash of 2008, the consistent climb through 2019, then the response to the Pandemic, 2020-2021, a fast, upward trend, has now begun to level out. I’ve been a licensed realtor since 1988 and I have survived and thrived in the ebb and flow Las Vegas home market.
What changes are we seeing in the LV Real Estate Market? To combat inflation, specifically in the housing industry, the FEDS buying of Mortgage Backed Loans, has come to a close. Hence, the rate hikes. As a result, starting in June, single family residences on the market went from 2200 to 8500. Homes are now on the market longer. So, how does one maneuver this market?
The first step to take when rates start to climb, is to search for and find the mortgage programs that offset the hikes. Right now, rates are around 4.99% Conventional, 30 Year Fixed. How I recommend my clients respond is to take a permanent buy down (ask the seller to pay, or split the cost), and you can do a 2/1 buydown (30 year fixed) Year 1 is 3%, Year 2 is 4%, Year 3 is 5% fixed. When the rates come back down, which they are expected to; refinance your rate. We don’t have the interest only programs available like we did before the economic downturn of ‘08‘09, but there are safer, and more creative programs available.
New Home builders contact me regularly and update me on all of the price drops and incentives they’re offering. A builder dropped move-in ready homes by $50K, and are offering rates at 3.99%. I’m maneuvered many markets, and my clients have done well, in all of them. (Hint: Make sure that you call a Realtor, before you go to a builder. The onsite agent works for the builder, so walk in with your own representation)
This market will correct itself. However, in response to the pandemic, the Federal
Government jumped in to keep everything moving. As an agent, the rush of that market at times, is really difficult. So many offers on one piece of property with prices going $20K-$100K over list! Right now, the competition for housing has slowed and the savings from that alone is great!
In addition, a buyer can now get a seller to negotiate, and we are leaning close to the line of a buyer’s market. I do not believe this will last.
As a native of Las Vegas, I have experienced many markets, since 1988. My father was a small real estate investor and builder too, and I remember our conversations when I was a child, with him telling me about buying and selling acres on Boulder Highway profiting in the early 60’s. I then remember conversations in the 90’s, where he would talk about Spring Mountain Road., and areas near the LV Strip, “If I only knew what was going to happen.” Yes dad, I too wish I had a crystal ball.
No matter what, Vegas will continue to grow. There are factors, such as water, that may slow down the rate of building, but with the addition of professional sports to our market and the influx of California businesses relocating to Nevada, people will want to live and work in our state.
All forecasts that I’ve heard are in Las Vegas, by end of the year, interest rates should be around 4.5% (same as in 2019), and to combat recession, rates will come down a bit. None of us have a crystal ball, but 1 or 2 of the aforementioned events occur, prices of houses will skyrocket, and we will then be like San Francisco, New York, or other places that building has been maximized.
As of today, seller’s need to be realistic and list their property’s based upon reality and the market. People are in
REAL ESTATE MARKET?
fear listening to the media and all of the reports out there. My clients have been getting great pricing, and they’re payments are excellent.
On another note, my Airbnb business has been doing great! I’ve brought several investors into the business, since I have an Airbnb management team, who facilitates all aspects of the business. We are legally structured, and growing. The returns are $10K-$15K per month, with certain homes, in carefully selected areas of Las Vegas. Additionally, these homes are highly regulated and managed that there are no behavioral issues, or homes that are not taken care of, while occupied. I also have longer term rental management, for those who have a different vision for themselves.
Whether you are listing a home, buying, or wanting a great passive income with a RE investment, do not wait and watch which way the market goes next. Take action now. I have people from 6 years ago, waiting and waiting, then they’ve missed those market gap opportunities. I personally believe we have a “lull” and when it kicks back up, these prices will be in our rear-view mirror.

KEEPING VEGAS KELLY BISHOP’S MISSION TO HOUSE NEVADA
It is more than just real estate or running a business. It is what owning those businesses means to be able to create through connections and improve and change lives around us.
I have always had a heart for children; being a step-mom, foster mom, adoptive mom and having two daughters of my own has meant the world to me. I became a therapeutic foster parent for many years and also worked as a Court Appointed Special Advocate, not only being on the Board of Directors but handling several cases as well. When I discovered the overwhelming number of homeless children and children lost in our systems here in Las Vegas, I was compelled to help make a difference. I had experienced a situation many years ago where I found myself in the middle of North Dakota in 40-degree weather due to a family emergency and had nowhere to stay for the few weeks I would be there. I was connected to a home where a family had a house that was designed for a donation basis only, for people like me, stranded with someone in the hospital. There were people staying in the home with me that were undergoing cancer treatments, etc. I was inspired to do something like this for others. It was such a huge blessing to me at the time.
When I started Vegas Strong Real Estate Group, it was our goal and mission to create a 501c3 to build a “Vegas Strong House” - and that is what we have done. We created the Vegas Strong Charitable Foundation and will soon be launching fundraising endeavors to build or purchase a home, which will initially provide transitional housing for teens 17-21. The concept behind this is to help these teens, primarily through mentoring, teaching them valuable job skills, how to build a resume, prepare for a job interview, and how to budget. They would have an exit plan to learn how to be on their own successfully.
Not only do we want transitional housing for the youth, we have already put in place a plan to help Veterans who may also be experiencing an “in-between” housing situation. We also plan to have a third home, for those families that need to come to Las Vegas for specific treatments or surgeries that require extended stays away from home and need a more family friendly environment.
This is an incredible need on so many levels, here in Las Vegas and in other cities. My hope and dream is to create awareness and multiple homes for the people who truly need to be cared for. The youth are our future. If we don’t step up and help them become better, who will?

KELLY BISHOP OWNER/CORPORATE BROKERBorn and raised in Ohio, Stacie Lang grew up with an entrepreneurial spirit as her father ran a business of his own. She once dreamed that she would work side-byside with her father and take over the business. Alas, the family business was sold, and she would need to pursue different career aspirations. In her search for new career opportunities, she landed where many teenagers land, working at the local McDonald’s. There she learned all the foundational business processes but developed a passion for taking care of and developing people. “I have always believed that the success of any company starts with the people at the bottom. Without them, the business doesn’t work. We have to take care of them and bring them up and it will bring everyone up.”
Not only did she learn the foundation of business while working at McDonald’s, but she also met her husband of 19 years. After leaving the restaurant industry, Stacie and her family moved to California. Her focus shifted from business to family and education, as she spent years both raising small children and going to college full-time. In 2010, she graduated with a Masters in Organizational Leadership and Development.
The move to Las Vegas in 2011 was a pivotal moment for Stacie. This was a new chapter and the opportunity for new professional ventures. “I like to stay busy. I needed to find more things to do.” She wanted to fill her time with other meaningful work, so she started volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House Charities. She was quickly hired on to be the Volunteer Manager and within 6 months, she became the Director of Operations. Not only did this experience create a passion for non-profit work, but her oversight of the RMHC remodel was her introduction into the world of home services.
After several years of working within the home services industry, Stacie took the next step to return to the dream of owning her own business. Along with business partner, Jeremy Anderson, Green Bird Consulting was born with the idea that there is a better way of developing the non-profit and home services industries. From its inception, Green Bird worked with Junior League of Las Vegas, Trail Access Project, League of Women Voters, SNARSCA, Code Blue HVAC, and other small businesses/charities within the valley to help them build strong strategic initiatives.
The only logical next step after starting to develop others, was to enter the industry as a contractor. Today, Stacie is the owner and Chief Financial Officer of Express Home Services, working alongside her business partner Jeremy Anderson. The company specializes in air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical home services and is located both in Las Vegas as well as Salt Lake City. “We started this company because we knew there was a better way to do this. We built a model on employees winning, clients winning, and when done right, the business follows suit. We love our team, we love our clients, we love what we do.”
success MEAN TO YOU?
o you remember that magical feeling when you were a little kid that you just knew you were going to be successful? Then, as you grow up, you realize what you thought would be success isn’t all sunshine and rainbows?
Meet Amber Fuhriman, an immigration and criminal defense attorney in Las Vegas and the founder of Success Development
Like most of us, she had BIG dreams as a kid. As a first generational college student from a small town in Idaho, she was no stranger to grief and loss at a young age. After the sudden loss of her father when she was 17, Amber overcame significant personal challenges to build a career as a successful attorney.
Despite all her professional success, Amber hit the wall that many career professionals know all too well. Her inner child, who wanted nothing more than to be successful, felt like such a failure. Where was the fulfillment and happiness the money and achievements were supposed to bring? When did all the hard work pay off? When did the pain, grief, and heartache she had been trying to outrun go away? How could someone with such success on the outside, feel so empty
To answer these questions, Amber stared to learn more about how our minds work. She dug into the science behind the impact of our experiences and generational beliefs to our view of the world and our perception of our success within it. Most importantly, she started to find
herself again. Amber the person - not just the lawyer.
Amber realized that her own anxieties and fears were created from not defining HER idea of success. If a person doesn’t know what success means to them, how could they possibly achieve it? Without a clear individual definition of success, a person’s accomplishments lead a life of ambiguous short term goal setting instead of the life of impact and legacy most of us strive to achieve.
Over the past five years, Amber has become a certified trainer of NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) and gained accolades in the business world, not just the legal world. She was featured on the cover of SHIFT Advanced Life Design Magazine, spoken on national stages in both the legal world and the business one, and has run several highly rated events in Las Vegas.
Amber founded Success Development Solutions in 2019 to help business owners, entrepreneurs and service-based professionals find the success their careers have failed to bring. Through individual and group coaching, mastermind and live events, speaking, and NLP Training, she helps her clients find a work-life harmony and build a professional life that supports their personal one.
You can learn more about Amber, her coaching opportunities, listen to her podcast or simply connect with another Las Vegas local business owner at www.SuccessDevelopmentSolutions.com.
I BELIEVE WE DON’T FIND SUCCESS, WE CREATE IT, BY INTENTIONALLY DESIGNING THE LIFE WE WANT AND HAVING THE COURAGE TO GET OUT OF OUR COMFORT ZONE TO LIVE THAT DESIGN.
MAKING LIFE SAFER ONE VERDICT AT A TIME
The personal injury field is one of the most dynamic parts of the legal world. Christian Morris, of Nettles Morris Law Firm in Las Vegas, loves to take on challenges.
No matter how long the case lasts, how difficult the case is to win, or the amount of work it will take, Christian works hard to bring Justice to her clients. When asked what being a trial lawyer means to her, Christian says, “Being a trial lawyer means you are someone who can survive the loses and cherish the wins. The courtroom is where lives are changed, and people listen.”
Following her recent win at trial for the family of Chantel Giacalone, where she recovered $31 million for her client, Christian recalled, “It was an honor and privilege to represent such a beautiful person, and the interests of a loving and caring family that needed closure.”
Christian explains that it is human tragedies that land her in the courtroom and it is her job to tell the stories of those tragedies and protect our community. She is determined to make life safer for all of us, one verdict at a time.
Christian is strong, powerful, and a force
to be reckoned with in the courtroom. She is proud to be a female trial lawyer in a predominantly male profession. Christian was awarded Top Lawyer of the Year by the Nevada Justice Association, the second woman in the past two decades to be awarded the honor. This honor is not something Christian takes lightly. She takes her job seriously as the last line of defense against insurance companies.
“Becoming a trial lawyer is something I was born for, but I am grateful I have my family, my friends and a support system that allows me to be a trial lawyer. They hold up my world while I work to make other peoples’ worlds better.” She is a mom, a wife, a managing partner, and an amazing trial lawyer. Christian Morris is one of the most professional, hard-working, and passionate lawyers we have had the chance to congratulate, we are very proud to call her one of our Top 100 Lawyers of the Year. MV
Women
Who Help Us Get BACK to What We Do Best!
The many women of The Neck and Back Clinics have quite a story to tell. They make up a significant part of the team, and most have been with the company for many years. At heart, The Neck and Back Clinics is a family that takes care of individuals and their families by providing quality chiropractic care at 7 Valley clinic locations.
We interviewed nearly 20 of our female team members to learn about their experiences working at our clinics. Here are some highlights that make us proud.
What is your proudest achievement inside and outside of work?
For District Manager, Claudia, her proudest moment inside of the workplace is getting to her dream position, starting from working the front desk, to the back office, to Team Lead, which led her to her District Manager position. Kelli, Southwest Team Lead, is most proud of building her career experience at the Southwest clinic and becoming a Team Lead.
“I’ve enjoyed getting to learn front and back office,” said Vanessa (not pictured), a chiropractic assistant, “and having the opportunity to work directly with patients.” For Alma, a front desk assistant, her proudest achievements include staying committed to her job for 12 years and raising her kids on her own.
What is your favorite part about working at The Neck and Back Clinics?
As employees, Glendis and Grace both enjoy getting to know the patients and being a part of patients’ chiropractic journeys to see what a difference treatment makes. As a chiropractic assistant, Jackelin’s favorite part about work is the opportunity and room for growth.
During her 16 year career with the company, Alice has loved working with patients, while keeping a positive attitude and cracking jokes.
As a hardworking, driven and reliable front desk assistant, Monique (not pictured) enjoys the fast-paced and flexible work environment. As a massage therapist, Reina loves building rapport with patients and hearing how much her craft helps them manage their pain.
How would you describe the company culture at NBC, and why is that important?
Front desk attendant, Zarryah would describe the company culture as rewarding and engaging. Perla, a chiropractic assistant, is proud of how The Neck and Back Clinics takes care of its employees and provides a positive company culture.
“Our team becomes our work family,” explained Lynn, a Team Lead. “We really count on each other when needed.” Jocelyn, a chiropractic assistant, said, “I would describe it as very welcoming and they care about their staff and help them when asked.” Cinthia, a Team Lead at the Northeast clinic, describes the culture as “caring, welcoming, friendly, and very family-oriented.”
The chiropractic physicians and staff at The Neck and Back Clinics care deeply about each and every patient who walks through their doors. Their experience and dedication to patient care is unmatched, as they provide high quality chiropractic care and physiotherapy. Partner with The Neck and Back Clinics to get on a path toward rehabilitation and recovery.
A work-life balance has always been important to the leadership team. Employees give their all to ensure quality healthcare delivery and positive patient experiences. As much as they enjoy their work, they also focus on families and passions “off the clock.” Nicole, for example, loves to relax with her dog, watch TV or movies and read. Delia, a chiropractic assistant, loves to bake and cook in her free time! ❁
Meredith Weiner is a divorce attorney for Right Lawyers. Every day she is the firing line of court. In addition to being under the pressure of court, she raises three daughters with her husband. We asked Meredith for some thoughts on raising children while balancing her career.
WHEN DID YOU KNOW YOU WANTED TO BECOME A LAWYER? I was always sort of a “fighter” and had that argumentative spirit. After college, I worked for a few years, all while thinking about what I might be good at. I finally decided on a whim to take the LSAT and then apply to law school, knowing that the “fighter” in me might actually pay some bills!
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A DIVORCE LAWYER? Initially, I needed a practice area that was sympathetic to the needs of a working mom and wife. The pulls of other practice areas didn’t work for me when I had my first newborn, but family law practitioners and judges seemed to understand. And then I realized that by being a wife and mother, I was able to relate to and have compassion for clients I didn’t necessarily have in other areas of law.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A LAWYER? WHERE DID YOU GO FOR UNDERGRAD AND LAW SCHOOL? 11 years. I went to undergrad at American University in Washington, DC and law school in San Diego, CA at Thomas Jefferson School of Law.
HOW DID YOU MEET YOUR HUSBAND, JAMES? I met James in high school through mutual friends and then reconnected with him about 15 years or so later.
WERE YOU A LAWYER WHEN YOU MET YOUR HUSBAND? WHAT DOES HE THINK OF YOUR CAREER? I was studying for the bar when we (re)met. He suffered along with me, so he appreciates all the hard work.
HOW OLD ARE YOUR CHILDREN? WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES? Avery and Leighton –Twins who are two and a half. Olivia- The big sister who is six.
LAWYERS ARE KNOWN FOR WORKING LONG HOURS. HOW DO YOU HANDLE BEING A WIFE AND MOTHER OF THREE WHILE BEING A LAWYER? When I was a baby lawyer, I worked a
lot. You had to earn your keep as an associate by being the last man standing at the firm, never daring to leave before any partner. It was tough, although my husband works long hours. But tougher when I became a mother.
GETTING TWINS THROUGH THE NEWBORN STAGE WAS PROBABLY CHALLENGING. ANY TIPS FOR WORKING MOTHERS OUT THERE ON HOW TO MANAGE A CAREER AND RAISING NEWBORNS? Getting twins through the day alone is challenging! Newborns are easy compared to the toddler years! But my tips are to rely on the help offered to you. When people offer to watch your kids so you can get out, accept! When your husband offers to fold laundry, accept! Don’t try to do it all! You can’t.
LAWYERS ARE KNOWN FOR WORKING UNDER PRESSURE AND DEADLINES. RAISING TWINS HAS ITS OWN PRESSURES. HOW DO YOU RELEASE ALL THAT STRESS AND TENSION? I have always been a gym nut. I used to run marathons, then got into fitness competitions. I don’t do that anymore, but I still lift weights 5-6 days a week. Oh, and I shop. A lot.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE “FAMILY” ACTIVITY? We love to cook together.
IF YOU WEREN’T A LAWYER, WHAT CAREER WOULD YOU BE IN? I would have been a doctor. I love blood and guts. And I feel like it would be so rewarding to feel like you are truly helping people in their times of need.
ARE YOU HOPING ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN WILL WANT TO BECOME A LAWYER? ARE THEY SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF BEING LAWYER MATERIAL? My oldest fights me every step. She’s got the “fighter” in her. Anything she does will make me proud. My other two are still diamonds in the rough, but all 3 of their mere existences makes me proud every second of every day.

BASICS OF estate planning estate planning
By Shauna S. Brennan, EsquireWHO NEEDS AN ESTATE PLAN?
Anyone who owns a business or investment properties, single or married, no children or blended family, or if you want to make a special gift upon your death or cut someone out of an inheritance, needs an estate plan. The estate plan with a Trust also allows heirs to avoid the costly process of probate court. Without an estate plan, the law of the State where a person resides when they pass-away will determine how their assets are distributed.
THERE ARE 9 ESSENTIAL STEPS FOR ESTATE PLANNING: Consult with an attorney and your tax adviser and draft a will and trust, prepare a health care decision and file with the Nevada Secretary of State, designate financial power of attorney, considerations for guardianship of minor children, designate beneficiary or “payable on death” for every investment and bank account, procure life insurance, make funeral plans in advance and cover funeral expenses, consult with an attorney regarding businesses and investment properties you own, and securely store your documents and passwords. Importantly, knowing your wishes upon passing and accessibility to financial records are the keys to a successful transition of assets to your survivors.

MYREAL ESTATE
The local Las Vegas Real Estate market is on fire and is set to be cooking for the next few years! With the onset of our national sports teams, the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Raiders, and the Las Vegas Lights, this town is set to explode with real estate values. In this market, many properties are receiving multiple offers and same day deals which means homes are flying off the market. Many lenders are offering a grant program to assist you with the entire down payment, so if you thought you could never buy a house, a home is possible now!
As Nevada’s nonprofit leader in affordable housing, every donation makes a significant impact on our organization, residents, and the greater Vegas community. This holiday season, we’re asking you to help bring “More Than A Home” to the 8,000 low-income seniors and families who call our properties home. Through our Resident Services team, we bring essential connections and community resources directly to our apartment communities. This means that life-enriching programming in health and wellness, education, economic stability, and community engagement are truly accessible.
Nevada HAND is proud to offer Resident Services to help our residents lead happy, healthy lives. We provide pathways to stability by supporting and connecting residents to resources like food programming, transportation, employment resources, resident engagement activities, and more.
During the holidays, our Resident Services Coordinators host special gatherings at each community to celebrate the season.
Your Gift will support their holiday celebrations by providing meals at each of our properties for the residents during November and December.
REAL ESTATE in LAS VEGAS
Darren Pohl Shares His Industry Insight
Ilove interior design, architecture, and the excitement of the “sale.” On a daily basis, I get the opportunity to help someone navigate one of the largest milestones in their lives and exceed client expectations.
Las Vegas is an incredible city with so much opportunity. We have year-round sunshine, incredible resorts, fashion, cuisine, sports, and entertainment. With such a large amount of REALTORS joining the industry in the Las Vegas Valley, I find it extremely important to maintain a high level of standards, ethics, and compassion for our communities and clients. Homeownership is becoming increasingly challenging given today’s market conditions and it’s why now, more than ever, consumers must align themselves with a professional.
Since joining Huntington and Ellis, I have challenged myself to deliver personalized service. I have helped hundreds of families obtain homeownership across all different price points and product lines. I assist clients with moving, lease backs, new construction timelines, contingencies, and even cleaning homes before a final walk through. Every transaction I facilitate is done with the utmost care, respect, and empathy. I strive to further my knowledge through education with Title Companies, Lenders, Builders and community leaders to better serve my clients. My client testimonials are a reflection of
my persistence and ongoing support to help achieve their individual goals.
For several years, I had the opportunity to work with a large homebuilder and sell multiple product lines across the Las Vegas Valley. I consider it a huge value-add when you can speak to the processes of a New Construction Build. It’s extremely important to set expectations with surrounding build timelines, deposit requirements, design options, lot premiums, incentives, and be able to navigate builder’s individual purchase agreements. Buying a brand-new home is an amazing experience but can be overwhelming with the amount of information a client has to absorb. It’s a lot of decision making up front and in the majority of cases, you’re in contract 9-12 months before closing, so it’s important to stay engaged throughout the process and keep a consistent dialogue. I always strive to set my clients up for long term success and make sure they don’t “over-content” the home, so they are in a strong equity position amongst the neighborhood.
TIPS FOR MY SELLERS: We’re in a highly competitive market with suppressed inventory, so it’s easy for sellers to think they can list their home without positioning the property right from the beginning. It’s important for sellers not to get “lazy,” or try and undercut certain processes to save money. With so many buyers purchasing homes site unseen, I
advise all my clients to ensure they have exceptional photography, Matterport tours, drone shots, home videos and virtual staging/regular staging if the home is vacant. It doesn’t matter if the home is $200k or $12 million, a consumer will spend 30 seconds or less viewing their property online. Your photos and listing verbiage need to highlight the features and benefits that make the home unique, and create a proposition for a buyer that’s intriguing. It’s also important that sellers understand who they are marketing their home to. Is it a lifestyle buyer? Family buyer? Active adult? If you know your demographic and spend the time to position correctly, you’ll typically bypass most objections and secure a sale faster!
I personally live in Summerlin and LOVE all the lifestyle benefits it offers. When I’m not selling Real Estate, I am spending time with my wife and son. We enjoy Downtown Summerlin, walks in the park, Baseball games, and a great glass of wine and steak. Las Vegas has been the perfect home for my family and, I’m sure, for families across the valley. I would love to help you when you’re in search for your next real estate venture or plan to sell your home. MV
JARED WEISS
ALWAYS IN MOTION
There is nothing stronger than the power of motivation. MYVEGAS has seen this power come to life within Jared Weiss, a local real estate investor and owner of Motion Properties, who has remained dedicated and motivated since a young age. There was nothing he couldn’t do once he set his mind to it, and along the way, realized that the real reward in success is being able to give back and serve.
Originally from New York, Jared made his way to Vegas when he was 19 years old to attend the University of Nevada Las Vegas, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts. Bringing with him nothing but a dream and the motivation to be a true entrepreneur, Las Vegas met him with incredible opportunities. A city full of growth and potential, Jared got to work.
Realizing how new the city was and how much development still needed to be done, Jared began laying his claim in the Real Estate industry. After the purchase of his first home, he started to fix up houses to later sell and flip for profit. There was so much potential in some older homes that just needed some TLC to get it to a good selling point. Jared enjoys the process of the remodel. While it started with just one house, it began building into a business model for Jared, expanding from one house at a time to thousands.
Jared opened his own real estate company called Motion Properties, noting his constant motivation to stay in motion. In Jared’s eyes, no means yes and stop means go. And he has always been this way, it’s how he was made. But it’s gotten him where he is, so we’d firmly say it’s working for him. “It’s how I’m able to stay
motivated flipping houses and doing Real Estate in Las Vegas, just with the satisfaction of watching my city grow and boom. They now get to see what I’ve always seen in Las Vegas,” says Jared.
Although Jared would admit that profit was always something he’s gone after, there was so much more to what he was able to accomplish. Along with the opportunities he was able to seize, he wanted to create his own opportunities for people to benefit. He saw a chance to use his real estate skills to help people see the true value of preserving the history of Muhammad Ali’s childhood home.
Jared shares his experience of seeing Muhammad Ali speak during Black history month with Mike Tyson, while he was a student at UNLV. He remembers being moved by his inspiration and attitude, and felt that they had much in common, believing that anything is possible and can be done if you put the work behind it. When he saw Ali’s childhood home in shambles, in that moment, purchasing the home in Louisville, Kentucky and remodeling it to its original 1940’s glory would be the right thing to do. It would be the chance to let not only the neighborhood kids, but the whole world see where the greatest of all time came from. Proving to Muhammad’s fans that, “Your surroundings or upbringing does not define you. You are defined by your fight and grit,” as Jared says.
After remodeling, Jared thought it would be important to let the whole world see the newly remodeled pink home. When Muhammed sadly passed away, the funeral procession drove by the home and the people were so grateful to see the same color it was when he was a child. Jared recalls, “Thousands of people came and dropped flowers and saw it, and I felt so proud that it wasn’t left how it was
Your surroundings or upbringing does not define you. You are defined by your fight and grit.”
“Help your community and give to others and your life will be full.”
before.” The home was in media around the world and featured on the cover of The Wall Street Journal, and it inspired him to do more for this small Kentucky community.
“That made me feel like it needed to be open for the world to see and not only that, but it started my nonprofit- allowing the rest of the neighborhood to be remodeled and redone so all of the people that are from the west end of Louisville could have new life breathed into their community.” And with the addition of the Muhammad Ali Childhood Home Museum, the Nonprofit was born. The walls inside filled with memorabilia of Ali’s greatest fights and memories, you can truly feel the essence of Muhammad Ali when you walk through the home.
Jared shines when he is serving his community, wherever that may be. His motivation to help and serve led him to another opportunity to give back. As many people may be unaware, there are a couple thousand children in foster care in Clark County alone. Jared says, “We started fostering a few years back and have had five babies in our home. The joy of giving them a safe place to heal and a safe
place while their parents heal is a very rewarding process.”
Jared’s wife, Laura, is a licensed marriage and family therapist, and co-owns the Rooted Life Counseling Center. She has always had a heart for families and children, and together, they feel strongly about being a voice for foster care in our community. Not only to help children and work with the parents, but also to be a voice for the change that needs to happen in the system. “My wife and I are adopting twins out of the foster care system that we’ve had since birth they’ll be an addition to our family making us the parents of six children,” Jared adds.
Motivation and the drive to do anything he wants to accomplish has landed Jared Weiss in incomparable success. Success to Jared is his ability to give back to the community that has given him so much. “I think what I’ve loved most about my journey is God showing our family that giving back and serving is where all the reward has come from,” Jared attests to his dedication. Whether it’s through his appreciation for boxing, his persistence and knowledge in real estate investing, or helping families, there is always some-
thing Jared can do, as long as he stays in motion. In his words, “Help your community and give to others and your life will be full.” MV

PERSONIFYING THE DIFFERENCE WITH NATE STRAGER
Philanthropist and owner of Rhythms Event Center, Nate Strager is a rare breed of realtor. He’s constantly exploring ways to add more value to every situation with which he is involved. Nate Strager built his business with Luxury Estates International primarily on two core values: “Service is everything” and “You deserve great service.”
For 18 years, Nate Strager has been successfully helping his clients receive the best possible advantages in their real estate transactions. From residential to commercial, Mr. Strager has used his expertise to give every potential property owner the kind of service that is usually reserved for only millionaires. Born in Long Beach, California, Nate Strager moved to Las Vegas around the age of five. Being a resident of the Silver State for that long gives him a unique perspective of not only the market, but the people who comprise that market. This is partly what drives him to adopt the business model that he has implemented for over a decade.
Regardless of the industry in which one participates, the one thing that connects us all is that we are all consumers. As consumers, we all have the realistic expectation of great service. Drawing from his own experiences with this, Nate Strager is empathetic to the plight of both the buyer and the seller, and is determined to provide just that, excellent service. There is a huge differentiation between the brand of service that Mr. Strager offers, and that of other realtors. “It doesn’t matter if I’m listing a $300,000 condo or a $3,000,000 house, I treat every client as luxury,” submits Nate. One way he accomplishes this is by absorbing the costs of such things as maid services, landscapers, professional photographers, aerial overlays, and even the drones themselves. He also provides virtual staging and 3D tours for his client’s properties, and this is all done out of his own pocket. This “skinin-the-game” attitude is something on which Nate Strager prides himself. What’s more, Nate also has two marketing teams who will market your property via social media, and other channels as well, which all but guarantees the proper exposure for your listing(s). Mr. Strager will even go so far as to throw housewarming parties for his clients, with the only motive of providing them with an extraordinary experience, and nothing less.
Even though the company is called Luxury Estates International, it is important to note that Nate deals in all things real estate, at every price range. These offerings include everything from single family homes, condos and townhomes to multifamily homes and even land deals. The “luxury” in Luxury Estates International is only indicative of the level of treatment that his clients receive and does not symbolize or reflect any one specialty or price point, as Nate is not one to be pigeon-holed or limited in his endeavors. Mr. Strager also makes himself available to his clients twenty-four hours daily and answers his own calls despite having several staff members at his disposal. This allows Mr. Strager to provide a much-needed personal touch that is essential in not only the real estate industry, but in business as a whole. Yet another feather in the cap of Nate Strager as it relates to the provision of service excellence.
So, what’s next for realtor Nate Strager? Currently, Nate is making plans to expand his brand into the San Diego, California market. Luckily for them, the people of the Golden State will be receiving the same opportunity to work with Nate Strager as those in the Silver State.
We congratulate realtor Nate Strager as one of the trailblazers of real estate and foresee great innovations coming from his camp, as they work to revolutionize the industry with their redefinition and embodiment of service. MV

SECURITY 1ST TITLE OF NEVADA:
A TRUE NEVADA-BORN COMPANY.
Security 1st Title of Nevada is a full-service title and escrow company providing title insurance and escrow services in Nevada. Founded in 1944, in the heart of the Midwest, Security 1st Title of Nevada is one of the largest independent title insurance providers in the nation.
The Nevada operation, headed by longtime Nevadan Jeff Harris, has three, soon to be four, offices in the Southern Nevada area, and handles residential, commercial, and new housing, as well as having a 1031 Exchange* company, all of which are operated by individuals from southern Nevada.
Entering the local market in January 2021, Security 1st Title of Nevada has become one the fastest growing title companies in Clark County. The growth can be attributed to an all-star management team comprised of the industry’s finest and some of the longest serving land and title professionals in market. Denny Burg, Eileen Bechtol Carlson, Tracey Baumgardner, Shain Moody, and Andre Williams, alongside Harris together have more than 200 years’ experience in southern Nevada real estate. When asked why Nevada was the perfect place to expand and open Security 1st offices, Jeff Harris said, “Opportunities here in southern
Nevada for growth are endless. With new industries locating to southern Nevada and professional sports franchises expanding here along with Nevada’s favorable tax environment, it is the perfect place to open a title insurance, escrow, and 1031 exchange services company.” He also noted that it is an extra advantage to be able to offer a wide range of employment opportunities to local southern Nevadans.
Jeff Harris’ love for the Silver State developed when he arrived from Claremont, California, in 1976. Harris moved to Las Vegas to play his last two years of football for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He played on Special Teams and was given an athletic scholarship to become a Rebel as a Punter in 1977.
“I was hired by Western Title as a sales representative. In 1989, I moved from Western Title to Chicago Title Agency of Las Vegas, and I purchased the company, which a few years later became United Title of Nevada,” recalls Jeff Harris, regarding his experience in the title and escrow services industry. After much hard work and many long hours, he retired in 2018 to spend more time with his golf clubs and his family (he’s a proud grandfather of five little southern Nevadans). After hearing about Security 1st Title’s national expansion plans from Tony Hale, Security 1st Title’s Senior Vice President, he found himself back in the game as President of Security 1st Title of Nevada.
What makes Security 1st different is its people. The firm hires locals who know the lay of the land, figuratively and literally. Employees of Security 1st relate to southern Nevadans because they are southern Nevadans. Another key differentiator is the value that Security 1st adds to every transaction by giving the consumer options. They write title insurance for several underwriters, which affords them the opportunity to
get the best result at the best price for a consumer who is closing on a real estate transaction. Security 1st represents multiple underwriters and can offer a solution to any closing. As an industry leader in title insurance, Security 1st Title has established a reputation of integrity, expertise, and a commitment to customer service. In short, they get the consumer the best price for the services they need.
According to Harris, there are three things that he wants our readers to know:
1. When it comes to picking a title and escrow company, you have a choice of whom you go to.
2. Know who you are dealing with. Why not work with a company that gives you a choice, hires local people, and spends their money with the local businesses that help our community grow?
3. We are all about southern Nevada! We celebrate Security 1st Title for being a trendsetter in their industry, and we salute Jeff Harris for his trailblazing and leading the charge. MV

LOVE WHERE YOU RESIDE
How can we do it better than anyone else?
That is the question that Reside Luxury agents always ask themselves.
It’s no longer enough to offer state of the art technology and mass market exposure. Every brokerage should be offering that to their sellers, at the very minimum. Let’s face it, it is a seller’s market. Priced right, a home should sell and sell quickly. So, how does Reside Luxury do better? It’s simple, they offer services to increase the seller’s maximum potential.
Reside Luxury’s in-house professional staging offers clients the ability to have their homes professionally staged, whether they are vacant or occupied. Some agents might say, “Why bother? It’s a seller’s market. It will sell if we just throw a sign in their front yard.” That is true, but at Reside, the goal is not to just sell the home. The goal is to sell the home for the maximum amount in the shortest amount of time. Having a home professionally staged has proven time and time again, that it works. Homes sell faster and for more money when staged. With Reside Luxury, staging is incorporated into the agreement, so that no outside costs are incurred. The seller does not need to set an extra appointment, pay upfront fees and incur extra monthly expenses, while the home is staged. It’s just one of the concierge services that Reside pro-
vides, that helps them “do it better than anyone else.”
What else does Reside Luxury offer to ensure their clients are completely satisfied? They also provide professional photography, drone photography, virtual tours and digital floorplans, because, obviously, first impressions matter most when it comes to selling a house. When Reside Luxury’s listings are professionally staged and photographed, they’ve just increased the likelihood that more buyers will be interested in scheduling an appointment to view the home in person, and of course this increases the chances for more offers to be submitted!
One more very important service is also included, which is Direct Target Marketing. With this type of marketing, Reside’s Certified Luxury Consultants connect with the most likely potential buyers, based on their interests, hobbies, and financial ability. They are able to zero in on who would be most interested in purchasing the property and connect with them in a way that is more personable and help them realize their dream of owning the perfect home. For example, if a single home with a four-car garage was located on an exclusive golf course, the direct
marketing could be geared toward buyers who are professionals that belong to a golf club and own at least 4 cars. Having your listing agent actively search for the perfect buyer is just another service provided by Reside Luxury to their clients, to make sure they are completely satisfied.
Reside Luxury is a concierge-driven boutique real estate agency that is constantly striving to offer their clients more than anyone else. In this seller’s market, it is not enough to just list a home. They are driven to make sure that when a client entrusts them with what could possibly be their biggest investment, that client receives the highest level of service available and realizes the largest profits possible. The show started 8 years ago, after Harvey Blankfeld was recruited by the Real Estate Radio Network to host for them. In 2014, Blankfeld went to San Diego for radio broadcast training, and started the show in March of that same year. The first iteration of the show continued until 2017, at which point Harvey Blankfeld decided to go independent. He continued his relationship with KDWN, creating a new show that emphasizes how he is “turning around the narrative on real estate”.
The goal is to educate the general public on any and all matters relative to the Las Vegas Real Estate market, as well as
real estate processes and procedures in general. It is Blankfeld’s position that there is a lot of fear and misconceptions of the real estate industry, and most of that fear is being perpetuated by the media. “Owning your own home is still the best way to increase your personal wealth,” states Blankfeld.
That’s why Blankfeld’s motto is to “Educate, Empower, and Engage.” He educates the general public on the state of the market. He empowers those who would like to participate in the real estate market by arming them with not only the correct knowledge, but with the most effective guidance as well. He engages by lending a hand in matters and personally facilitating the most advantageous transactions possible for the client.
Every contributor or guest offers a different expertise. The show doesn’t only address what one should do, but maybe
more importantly, it debunks myths and directs the listener as to what not to do.
According to contributor John Ingram of Prosperity Home Mortgage, the show is to serve as a tool for those looking to make decisions on real estate. Harvey Blankfeld and his contributors including Mr. Ingram, actively enjoy educating people on the industry and sharing the reality of what changes are happening. They find real value in their role of translating the complexities of real estate into “real people speak”. In short, Harvey Blankfeld’s radio show consists of timely insights into the real estate market from people without an agenda.
A common topic discussed on Las Vegas Real Estate Now with Harvey Blankfeld is Wire Fraud. Blankfeld warns that there are “bad guys watching (your emails) at all times.” He brings awareness that these criminals watch and wait specifically for real estate transactions to be made.
“They mimic the escrow company or the lender to encourage you to send a large wire off to them.” Blankfeld strongly suggests that the way to combat this type of fraud is to “make the phone call,” meaning call your lender or escrow company to verify that these new instructions are legitimate.
Las Vegas Real Estate Now with Harvey Blankfeld has proven to be an invaluable resource to listeners in the Valley. In the words of Rick Cenname, Title and Escrow professional, “If you’re interested in learning more about how to get involved in real estate, tune in to the show.” MV

LASSO INJURY LAW
INmany ways attorney Al Lasso is the epitome of what Las Vegas is all about. Giving up on the security of complacency, throwing caution to the wind, betting it all and winning big in the end. This is what Al Lasso did and it paid off not only for him in winning some of the largest verdicts in the United States, but also for the safety of thousands and thousands of people he will never meet. We recently caught up with Al to discuss his journey from casino dealer to one of the most respected attorneys in Las Vegas.
HELLO AL, YOU HAVE BEEN IN LAS VEGAS FOR 30 YEARS, CAN YOU TELL US HOW YOU CAME TO VEGAS AND OWNING LASSO INJURY LAW?
My journey is a little different than most attorneys. I grew up in New Jersey, in a blue-collar family. My mom was a homemaker and my dad a fireman. When I graduated from high school, I decided that college was not for me. So, while I always wanted to be an attorney, I did not go in that direction right away. In fact, I opened my own One Hour Photo business in my hometown.
OWNING A ONE HOUR PHOTO BUSINESS IN NEW JERSEY IS A LONG WAY FROM HAVING A TOP-RATED LAW FIRM IN LAS VEGAS, HOW DID THAT COME ABOUT?
My brother was involved in a very severe car crash that caused him to be paralyzed from the waist down and I saw firsthand how badly he was treated by insurance companies and even attorneys. I made a vow to myself that I would one day become an attorney and make sure that none of my clients were treated that way. That I would always take care of the “little guy” like my brother that no one else seemed to care about. 10 years out of high school I decided it was time to follow my dream.
THAT IS AN ADMIRABLE DREAM BUT WITHOUT A COLLEGE DEGREE AND 10 YEARS OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT DREAM WAS A LONG WAY OFF.
That is very true, but that did not stop me. I was 28 years old, and I knew it would take 7 years to complete my dream. I figured, I am going to be 35 either way, so I could be doing the same thing I am doing, or I could be an attorney helping people. I decided to sell my business, sell my home, and move to Las Vegas where I could learn how to deal craps and be able to go to school full-time while working in a casino at night full-time so I could make a living. That is what I did, packed up the family, enrolled in dealers’ school, became a craps dealer, and went to school full time at UNLV. I even worked as an extra in movies such as “Casino” to make additional money while in school. Only in a 24-hour town like Las Vegas does that opportunity present itself.
THERE WAS NO LAW SCHOOL IN LAS VEGAS BACK THEN, HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO GO TO LAW SCHOOL?
Ha ha yes… I guess I should have thought that through. Once I graduated college, I was accepted at Seton Hall Law School back in New Jersey. So, we packed everything up again and moved back to the East Coast. Living back there was very tough, it was great to see family and friends, but we had very little money and I was delivering pizzas to get by. We were living in a converted two car garage, which was small for a growing family, cold, and not what we had become used to in Las Vegas.
OK, THAT IS STILL A LONG WAY FROM BEING BACK IN LAS VEGAS AS AN ATTORNEY AND WINNING ONE OF THE LARGEST JURY TRIAL VERDICTS IN HISTORY FOR A SLIP AND FALL CASE.
You know the lure of Las Vegas and the beauty of living here is tough to get out of one’s system and of course the opportunities here are unlike anywhere else. We wanted to move back. I had a friend I dealt craps with whose wife played golf with a Judge and gave out my resume to the Judges in Clark County. Judge Bonaventure, one of the most highly respected and acclaimed jurists in Las Vegas, was looking to hire a law clerk and took a chance on me. So, for the last time, we once again packed up the U-Hauls and made the final trip back across the country to Las Vegas. I was very fortunate in that one of the first cases I worked on as a law clerk was the infamous and worldwide publicized case of the Ted Binion murder trial. I also was the Law clerk for the Jeremy Strohmeyer re-hearing and the Margaret Rudin “Black Widow” murder trial. Those cases really gave me an “into the frying pan” experience in learning the law. I learned much more than anything I ever learned in any law school class. Later, I would be privileged to be hired by the best criminal defense attorney in Las Vegas, Dominic Gentile, who taught me a lot about defending my clients.
I’d like to think that fate played a hand in it but either way it does make for a great story.
When I was selected to be Judge Bonaventure’s Law clerk, we had no money to get back to Las Vegas. Basically, we had spent everything we had getting me through law school. The move back would be costly. I just could not ask family and friends, without who we never would have made it that far, for anymore help. At the last minute, I had entered my name in a New York Radio station contest.
I UNDERSTAND THAT THE STORY OF YOUR RETURNING TO LAS VEGAS HAD A BIT OF DESTINY TO IT?
WE FIGHT FOR YOU
It was a contest where if you heard your name on the radio, you had 20 minutes to call in. Once you called in, thirty-six of us would meet on the beach and pull a key out of a fishbowl. Then each of us would have a chance to start a Jeep Wrangler, if your key starts the Jeep, you win two Jeeps. A month later, I found myself on that beach, the 21st in line, as everyone in front of me tried to start the Jeep with the key they had pulled out. With no one in front of me having started the Jeep, it was my turn. I prayed for my key to work as I turned it in the ignition and after a couple of coughs and sputters, the Jeep started, and I won the two Jeeps. We took those winnings and used it to get us all to Vegas and start my legal career.
AS AN ATTORNEY, YOU WON A 16.4 MILLION DOLLAR JURY VERDICT AGAINST A LARGE HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE AS WELL AS A 20 MILLION DOLLAR VERDICT AGAINST AN HOA. HOW DID YOUR LIFE EXPERIENCES HELP YOU TO BECOME THE LAWYER YOU ARE TODAY?
Although my brother has now left us, I like to think I am still fighting for him. From the smallest of cases to the biggest ones, I treat all my clients like family. I have dedicated my law practice to fighting for the people who have been injured by the negligence of others and to hold them accountable for their actions. I focus on getting my clients the most compensation they deserve so they can move on with their lives.
YOU ARE A SMALL FIRM, HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO OBTAIN SUCH LARGE VERDICTS?
We are a boutique firm; we do not accept every case that walks in the door. I do not want Lasso Injury Law to become one of those giant firms where non-attorneys work on the cases and they do not even know who you are. We are very selective
about our cases because when we take on a case, we dive into every detail and personally speak to each and every client. Being a small firm allows us to devote the time needed to each of our cases. We are a hands-on firm, but we also spare no expense for our clients when it comes to experts, investigators, and co-advocates for trials.
FINALLY, WHAT IS THE MOST SATISFYING THING ABOUT THOSE VERDICTS?
Many people think it is the money and do not get me wrong, I am very happy that my clients will be taken care of for the rest of their lives. However, to me, it is knowing that the home improvement store has changed their watering polices all over the country in an attempt to en sure that no one else will suffer the brain injury my client did. It is also to know that HOA’s everywhere will now inspect their swing sets monthly to ensure that the metal parts are not rusted out and in danger of collapsing, saving young chil dren from severe head injuries. That is truly the most satisfying thing about be ing a trial attorney and I will continue to always fight for my clients like they are family.

One factor that makes THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys different from other legal practices is the leadership. One of the principals, Michael C. Kane not only has prolific legal experience, but a degree in biological science. This gives THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys an advantage. They have access to a wealth of knowledge regarding the injuries sustained by their clients, as well as the quality-of-life experienced while, and after their clients recover. It’s kind of difficult to fool these attorneys if you’re on their radar. Attorney Kane used to represent the insurance companies himself. He first worked on the defense side of the aisle, and the irony is that he went from representing the “big guys” to standing up for the “little guy”. Therefore, he has extensive experience with the way insurance companies structure their defenses, what loopholes they seek to use, and many other tricks and tactics employed by the insurance companies. I’d rue the day that I would have to face these attorneys in court if I was one of these corporations.
With this vast expertise, THE702FIRM Injury attorneys are the ones to call. Along with Attorney Kane, attorneys Bradley J. Myers (the other principal of the firm) and Joel Hengstler (who was elevated to partner by Brad and Mike in 2021) are involved in the case process from beginning to end with their clients, and that includes all case prep as well. It’s assuring to have the support of attorneys like Bradley Myers, who handles injury cases of all magnitudes, but primarily focuses on catastrophic injuries and wrongful death for THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys. This includes motor vehicle accidents, insurance bad faith, slip and fall, wrongful death, dog bite, and product liability cases. Attorney Myers previously worked with insurance companies as well. Needless to say, he’s a valued asset when litigating, and he has been one for 18 years and counting.
With a background in family law, estate planning, and criminal defense, as well as experience with workers’ compensation, Joel Hengstler became a partner of THE702FIRM injury attorneys in 2021. Attorney Hengstler has handled thousands of personal injury matters, exclusively representing injured parties. THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys have three $3,000,000 settlements, and consistently receive referrals from other pre-litigation attorneys. This makes them the “lawyer’s lawyer”, in effect. According to Attorney Kane, “We take cases that other firms would turn down because they’re too complex or they don’t see a way to win. But we find ways to resolve them.” Perhaps, this is yet another factor that makes them different from the others.
Well-rounded attorneys, great service, and desirable results. These are the hallmarks of a great firm. We celebrate THE702FIRM Injury Attorneys for protecting us from the greed of the bad apples in the insurance industry, and being there for us as a source of support in our most trying times. We can hardly wait to see what's next for this firm

EXCELLENCE
By: Daryl K. JonesTHE MISSION: To be a major law firm in the legal community; owned and staffed by professionals diverse in age, background, gender and ethnicity, committed to providing superior legal services to our clients and leadership to the community. The vision: To be a multicultural law firm serving the legal needs of the global community. These are the sentiments of Ivie McNeill Wyatt Purcell & Diggs, also known as IMW. When someone is considering hiring an attorney, the determining factor is almost always experience. Fortunately for their clients, IMW has over 70 years of handling everything from civil rights litigation to sports and entertainment law. IMW was founded in 1943, and first organized in Los Angeles by retired Superior Court Judge, Earl C. Broady, Sr. The firm became Ivie and McNeill in 1980 after Judge Charles R. Scarlett and Judge Robert L. Roberson, Jr. received their judicial appointments. Thereafter, the firm name was changed to Ivie McNeill & Wyatt in 1991 and became Ivie McNeill Wyatt Purcell & Diggs in 2019. IMW is a certified minority business enterprise. I had the pleasure of speaking with one of the partners of the firm, Attorney Rodney Diggs. The following is a Q and A from our conversation:
WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT YOUR FIRM? Our firm is unique for many reasons. First, there aren’t many black owned law firms that are our size and that have been around as long as we have – since 1943. We are an institution with a national and international presence. Our firm is unique in that we are truly diverse. Our firm has also produced 6 judges.
For a small/midsize firm to produce that many judges is rare.
WHAT ARE YOUR FIRM'S CORE VALUES? Excellence – we are committed to providing superior legal services to our clients and leadership in the community.
WHAT KIND OF LAW DO YOU PRACTICE? Employment and Civil Rights
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN PRACTICING LAW? 12 years
What inspired you to practice law?
I realized after I tore my hamstring running track at UCLA and my dreams of the Olympics would never be a reality, I needed to focus on a plan B. It was between law school and business school and I realized I could do more to make an
indelible impact on the world by being an attorney. It was actually while at Howard University School of Law during my 3L year and taking a trial advocacy class did it click that I wanted to be a litigator. It brought back that feeling of competitiveness I missed (being an athlete) and longed for. That was more of my inspiration to do litigation instead of transactional.
WHAT MAKES YOUR FIRM DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS? We are truly trial attorneys. Some firms advertise they are trial attorneys, but (we) are always engaged in trials and obtain favorable results for our clients. Also, we are truly diverse. I always say if a client is looking for diversity, you cannot get more diverse than our firm.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR THOSE LOOKING FOR REPRESENTATION? Call our firm.
WHAT IS YOUR LARGEST AWARD TO DATE? $25,000,000.00 unanimous verdict, all compensatory damages.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR YOUR FIRM? ANY PLANS FOR EXPANSION? We plan to expand to other jurisdictions (i.e. Atlanta, Houston/Dallas, DC) and expand our presence internationally.
“So grateful for Southwest Injury Law. I am a mom of 2 young girls who were t-boned by a cab, my van was totaled. Thankfully, I was able to get in pretty much right away … along with my two girls. Luis & his staff are top notch. I can always get help when I need it, including a call back. They are very responsive & treat you like a friend. I am grateful and I fully recommend.”

THE DRASKOVICH LAW GROUP
ROBERT DRASKOVICH AND W. MICHAEL HORVATHNationally recognized as being the masters of their trade, The Draskovich Law Group in Las Vegas, NV, is distinguished in the field of Criminal Defense. Based on over 28 years of dedicated and knowledgeable representation, the firm has defended over 100 cases through trial with cutting-edge advocacy.
The Draskovich Law Group is led by founder and owner, Robert Draskovich, and Criminal Defense Attorney, W. Michael Horvath. Together, they are a team to be reckoned with, and a pair of MYVEGAS’ Top Lawyers of the Year.
Robert Draskovich began his practice in 1997. Possessing an industrious spirit, Mr. Draskovich has always been drawn to a trial practice. Similarly, W. Michael Hor-
vath was initially attracted to becoming a trial lawyer while working in a firm as a high school student; later, he found that The Draskovich Law Group was the perfect place to hone his skills. Although many criminal cases are negotiated, the firm believes that it is better to negotiate a case from a position of strength and knowledge, based upon solid trial preparation, than merely to negotiate a case “hat in hand” with a prosecutor suspecting that defense counsel is not prepared to prevail at trial.
Since their inception, The Draskovich Law Group has continuously delivered a
remarkable track record of results, while taking on many “out of the ordinary” cases. The Firm offers a wide range of criminal representation, including but not limited to federal crimes, sex crimes, murder, theft, and fraud. The Draskovich Law Group’s tenacity is unmatched, not only offering 28 years of trial experience to any case, but also applying strategies that are unheard of in most criminal law firms. These attorneys go the distance for their clients.
Being a boutique law firm, The Draskovich Law Group calls upon a qualified team of experts and provides unparalleled investigation of their cases. “We bring a substantial amount of experience, creativity, and the use of science into each client’s case,” states Draskovich. Being a trial lawyer is what some might call a meticulous endeavor. However, Draskovich and Horvath find no impediment to fighting every detail that they can.
Innovation and the art of advocacy are alive and well at The Draskovich Law Group. “We successfully defend cases year in and year out,” states Draskovich. “Our law firm fights hard for our clients, standing up for people when no one else will.” Robert Draskovich has earned many accolades, including being recognized by Super Lawyers every year since 2007; he is named in US News’ Best Lawyers of America; He has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubble “the highest rating a lawyer can achieve”; and has been included in The Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers since 2011.
Upon meeting Draskovich and Horvath, they may joke and laugh with their easy-going, sarcastic dialogue, but these attorneys are as capable and serious as they come. MV

BRACE FOR IMPACT:
THE PASSION THAT DRIVES HEIDARI LAW GROUP
By: Daryl K. JonesHeidari, the principal of the Heidari Law Group, was inspired to practice law because he wanted to have a positive impact on the rights and civil liberties of his clients. To understand what drives him, you have to consider the entire story. Like so many other exceptional people, attorney Sam Heidari started as an immigrant to the US. His passion was sparked by what he had seen happen to others around him as a boy. Growing up in a country which by his own admission had a justice system which pales in comparison to what we have here in the States, he felt a responsibility to help others at an early age.
Attorney Sam Heidari started out doing business litigation. However, this did not fulfill his urge to make a difference in the lives of individual citizens. The hallmark of their service is "competent and ethical lawyering." The people that Heidari Law Group services are injured, hurt, or had their personal rights infringed upon, and Sam Heidari feels that helping these people is his true calling.
The attorneys at Heidari Law Group are fighters, and there are several other factors that make them different from other law firms. First, they are not a trial-only firm. They are involved in the process from A to Z. Also, they are not a personal injury "mill." Firms like that get a case and pass
it off to another firm to handle the litigation if, and when they drop the ball. Not the Heidari Law Group. They take a case, and if it needs to be litigated, they handle the litigation from the drafts of the lawsuits all the way up to the final judgment after trial. This is a massive undertaking but they take the phrase "protecting your client's interest" very seriously. They pride themselves on the 3 D’s: Diligence, Determination, and Dedication. According to Sam Heidari, these three words encompass the core values of Heidari Law Group, P.C., in the courtroom, the conference room, and out in public.
For those looking to hire an attorney, Heidari advises that one should do their due diligence. "If the attorney is practicing in the field of personal injury and charges you a consultation fee, that's a red flag for me," states Heidari. While this approach isn't unethical, personal injury clients are often unable to work, dealing with expensive and accruing medical bills, and are under great psychological pressure as well. The last thing they need is to have to pay a consultation fee up front to speak to an attorney. It is this protective "watchdog" mind state and commitment to best practices that makes Heidari Law Group one of the fastest growing law firms in Nevada, with a track record of recovering millions for their clients.
So, what's next for Heidari Law Group? They have multiple trials starting in both Nevada and California, and their lawyers are already in that "full-court press" mind state. Also, they will continue to look towards expansion to be able to bring more of the competent, ethical representation from which they have become known. They already serve clients in Las Vegas, Sacramento and Orange County, but they never take their eyes off the ball regarding when and where they can protect the rights of the people.
We celebrate Heidari Law Group, P.C. for being a beacon of hope for the infirmed, and a champion for the rights of those who are suffering. Simply put, Heidari Law Group puts the "personal" In personal injury representation. It is no wonder then, that Sam Heidari is one of our Top 100 Lawyers and one of the Best of MyVegas 2022. We thank them for their diligent service.
NOTHING LESS THAN SUCCESS
Achieving success as a trial lawyer is no accident. For over 20 years, Brian Harris has been a Plaintiff’s trial lawyer with one goal in mind—consistently winning for his clients. Of course, over two decades, it hasn’t been easy.
However, with every challenge faced, Brian has been able to keep his focus steady. When asked how he has managed to build a successful law practice even through the recession, the pandemic, and other challenging times, Brian has a simple answer: anticipate, plan ahead, and always stay focused on what matters, the client. Over the course of his career, Brian has been part of large law firms with many partners. In 2008, he and his wife and current law partner, Heather Harris, decided they wanted to do things their own way and founded Harris & Harris Injury Lawyers.
When asked why he prefers to run a 3-lawyer practice, his answer is simple: accountability. “My priority is focusing on client care. When you have 3 lawyers in the firm, we all focus on getting the best result in each and every case. I work on every case for every client. Ultimately, the buck stops with me. That is a respon-
sibility I take incredibly seriously. I’m not satisfied until I know I’ve achieved the best result for every client.” When asked how Harris & Harris has continued to thrive during the current pandemic, Brian says, “No matter the challenge faced, or how we shift strategies to face them, our focus is always the same. We know the value of each case and the impact and challenges each client is facing as a result of their injuries. We fight to get the best possible result for every client. By making client satisfaction a central part of our mission, communicating closely with our clients (especially during difficult times), we are able to make sure their needs are being met. Nothing is more important to me as the managing partner.”
Communication is the key. As we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic, and consider the future, Harris & Harris has found new ways to stay in touch with clients more easily and efficiently. By staying in closer contact with clients, it makes
it easier for them to understand exactly what is happening in their case. Says Brian, “By taking some of the lessons we’ve learned in the pandemic, and incorporating them into our long-term plans for the firm, we are able to ensure success for our clients. Only when we achieve the best outcome for our clients, can we achieve success for ourselves as lawyers. I am satisfied with nothing less than success.”
Brian K. Harris is the managing partner of Harris & Harris Injury Lawyers, a three-lawyer firm with a focus on excellent personal client representation and achieving the best possible result for each client in every case.

STORMING THE TELEVISION!
Accident? Injured? Arrested? Most people have no plan when bad things happen. Even worse, most people do not know what to do to protect their legal rights. Attorney Victor Cardoza and Journalist Rosario Grajales work daily to be a source of information and education for the people of Las Vegas using social media posts, video podcasts, and their television show, “Legalmente”, airing weekly, between 8 am and 9 pm, Thursday mornings on Univision. Victor and Rosario are devoted to helping people understand their legal rights and options.
Born in Los Angeles, California, to Mexican immigrant parents, Victor was raised to appreciate the value of obtaining an education. He studied and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles. After working as a clerk for several law firms in Los Angeles’ Westwood and Century City communities, he then moved to Moscow, Idaho, to begin his studies at the University of Idaho College of Law. His law school class was honored to have the great trial lawyer, Mr. Gerry Spence, as the graduation speaker. Mr. Spence stressed that lawyers should work to help people, to help the community, and to share their skill with those in need.
A lawyer’s goal should not be to just get a job with a “big corporation”. Victor has never forgotten this. A licensed Nevada attorney since 1995, Victor has become an experienced civil litigation attorney, practicing primarily in the area of personal injury law. To date, he has taken thousands of cases to court.
Rosario is a bilingual journalist, entrepreneur and author. She was born in the Republic of Panama and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. She started her career at a national TV station in Panama and is a former news anchor/reporter with Univision in Las Vegas. During the span of her career, Rosario has had the opportunity to interview and meet many high profile personalities, including Senator Bernie Sanders, President Bill Clinton, champion boxers Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson, actress Eva Longoria, and many others celebrities and newsmakers. Rosario currently owns and operates a media and communications consulting company based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Victor and Rosario look to do more. They are the regular producers of informative legal videos on social media. For two years they presented their radio show, Legalmente con Victor Cardoza, on ESPN’s
Radio Las Voz De Nevada on 1460 AM, providing news and legal information for our great Las Vegas community. Last year, Victor and Rosario moved on to Spanish television, taking their awesome show to screen where it is now Legalmente on Univision De Nevada. Recent shows have addressed diverse legal issues, including the law related to the COVID-19 pandemic, automobile collisions, insurance law, legal rights concerning the 2nd and 4th Amendments, and accidents in the workplace. Victor and Rosario are proud to announce that they have now completed over 50 television episodes of Legalmente!
Helping our community understand diverse legal issues, Victor and Rosario are a team providing an incredible resource for those needing legal questions answered or representation in tough situations. They are proud to provide great information on television and social media. The truth is: We will never see an accident coming. But the best thing you can do is be prepared and have a great time behind you! MV

THE JONATHAN WEBER DIFFERENCE
Attorney Jonathan Weber has experienced many approaches to the attorney-client relationship in his 21 years of work at larger Las Vegas firms, small firms, defense and plaintiff’s firms, in litigation, mediation and in pre-litigation. And no matter the law firm, clients need answers to their questions and concerns, details of progress, and an overall view of how their case is going. Personal attention, paired with timely and consistent client communication is a standard he holds himself to as a personal-injury solo practitioner in an increasingly competitive arena dominated by billboard law firms with million-dollar ad campaigns and slick media slogans.
But there is an advantage to managing your own solo law firm: you know your clients very well, and they know you.
At the end of the day, there is no replacement for personal service to your clients. W. JONATHAN WEBER, ESQ 702-538-5761 weber-lawfirm.com
Most law firms employ an army of legal assistants and paralegals that effectively “wall off” the handling attorney from actually speaking to clients. (Try calling a large law firm and ask to speak with an attorney – at best you’ll talk to a paralegal who can’t give legal advice, or just be transferred to the attorney’s voicemail - that’s it.) Jonathan takes calls directly from his clients and reaches out proactively. Direct communication regarding case status gives Jonathan’s clients the level of personal service they need and respect they deserve. It’s the difference between simply being a number, and having your needs taken seriously. It’s Jonathan’s personal service for his client’s personal injuries. MV

SINGLE MOM LIFE
SINGLE MOM LIFE
WHAT AM I MADE OF? WHATEVER IT TAKES.
By Remmy SeleucoMy story is probably no different than many of yours. I’m a first-generation Mexican American that grew up in Los Angeles and moved to Las Vegas in August of 2017. Fast forward to April 2018, when I was celebrating my birthday dinner and my soonto-be baby, when it hit me all of a sudden. It was that evening when I realized, “I’m going to be a Mom!”
In November that year, upon arriving at Sunrise Hospital, the reality clicked in, and I began to ask myself all the questions that come moments away from Creation. “What am I doing? Where am I going? How do I do it? What kind of example am I?” What a wave of emotions. That’s where the Mom began. At that moment I refused to be a stagnant, flat character, just showing up to support the plot.
It was the start of 2020. One day at my friend’s house, I saw his “whiteboard” outlining his career goals and successes in real estate. At first, the idea of me and real estate, seemed unreachable and unrealistic. But with a little encouragement and a lot of guidance, I dove headfirst into my new career… Real Estate! The Nevada Real Estate Exam is not easy for everyone, but when I passed the exam, my confidence was at its highest and I fell in love with my career choice, however, as any Realtor can tell you, the first year is the hardest.
My love for Real Estate was strong, but as a single mom, somehow my real estate career got put on sidelines during my baby’s first year. Provide, Survive, Provide was my primary focus. I strayed so far from Real Estate so that I could make a steady income…until one day on Instagram I noticed a Luxury agent doing a ridiculously funny dance while promoting his $3,200,000 Trump Tower Listing.
In his video, Jeremy offered to do Agent Showings. Jeremy offered to drive me around to interview about becoming a Transaction Coordinator. After 5 failed attempts, Jeremy called Ryan Crighton—his broker– he told
him he had a new TC for the team. Ryan interviewed me with so much hesitation…still he said, “You start tomorrow.”
Two years later, Ryan and Frank (The leads of the Crighton~Rinaldi Team) saw I was itching to sell - how could I not?! Motivated and educated, I felt unstoppable. As of October 2022, I became a Full-Time Agent. I had the courage to CHANGE. I had the patience to accept the process. Every day I would get home late just to feed my son, bathe him, brush his teeth, read him a story and put him to sleep. If I had showings, he would come with me. If I had to stay over-time at my desk handling the transactions, Osiris would come too.
You see, my son inspired my change - but for those two years, the “What If” stayed so heavy in my mind. I told myself, “I can’t do open houses, because I have a son”. I told myself, “I won’t be taken seriously by clients, because I am a mom.” I had a lot of thoughts or excuses in my head as to “Why” I can’t do this. However, one day I realized that my son inspired me to grow and became my “Why Not.”
The change in me was not the fact that I chose to focus on my career. Osiris “IS” my reason WHY! All this is for him. For us. For our future. And that's WHY I had to do the over-time. That’s WHY I paid for nannies while hosting open houses. He is WHY I had to elevate my mindset and not crumble to the pressure of growth. And he is the reason WHY all my sacrifices are just now breeding their fruits.
Do you have the courage to change? Are you willing to do WHATEVER IT TAKES? I did…and I am only at the beginning of my success, career and future. I am a mother and a Business Owner. I make multiple streams of income - I am manifesting time! Osiris and I have more than an end of the day relationship now. I see my son day and night, in the office or at the park, and…sometimes in the morning he will pull my blankets off of my tired body, open the curtains and yell, “Wake Up mommy! It’s a Sunny Day. Let’s go to the office! Let’s go get that money.” And that’s exactly what we do.
“If you have a million-dollar dream… don’t let a $40,000 salary talk you out of it.”

LOOKING AND ACTING THE PART
By: Sean M. McCrayCareer columns often proffer the clichéd advice to look and act “the part.” Everyone’s heard the aphorisms: dress for success; clothes make the man or woman; fake it until you make it. Tired or not, the fact is, all of this is good advice… we just have to think about it the right way.
The imperatives to look and act professionally are usually focused on managing how others think of you. This includes co-workers, industry peers, higher-ups, and your guests. The point is to make a good impression on them, but there’s another dimension to looking and acting the part. By doing both, you can change or enhance the impression you have of yourself. This only leads to good things for you and your career.
First, looking the part is important to how you perceive yourself. On good days, when you’re happy with how you look-with the fit of your uniform or suit, the accessories you choose --you feel better about yourself. The result is usually a positive attitude and better interactions with everyone. The opposite is true, too. There are those days where nothing seems to work. Your attitude and even your behavior can reflect that. And it’s not just your friendly, neigh borhood MyCareer columnist say ing this… a study from Northwest ern University called
“Enclothed Cognition-how clothing affects our cognitive processes” (2012) found that clothes have a lasting effect on how we feel about ourselves. The long and short of it is: if you look good, you feel good.
Acting the part too, is for the benefit of others, but can also be to your benefit. A more experienced colleague told me that her PBX stations were fitted with mirrors that operators used as reminders to smile during calls. The smile, she told me, changed her voice, and helped to create welcoming, friendly interactions with the guests. But more importantly, it helped
also to yourself. By dressing well and projecting an attitude commensurate with your position, you can enhance your dayto-day outlook, improve performance, and excel in your career. Remember, it isn’t just advice… it’s science.

AFFORDABLE STRIPING & SEALING
WHY IS PAVEMENT MAINTENANCE IMPORTANT?
Well-constructed asphalt pavement has a luxurious dark color that is aesthetically pleasing and a smooth, even surface that provides excellent safety features. If the pavement is engineered correctly and receives the maintenance needed, an asphalt parking lot can last for up to 30 years before it needs a significant repair or reconstruction. However, parking lot maintenance companies know that a neglected pavement can fail in as little as eight years if it receives no maintenance. It can fail within 15 years if it only gets a little care on a haphazard schedule. Although asphalt is an economical paving choice, it is always less expensive to maintain your parking lot than replace it. Furthermore, a poorly maintained, dilapidated parking lot can leave you with other potential costs.
WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN WITHOUT ASPHALT PAVING MAINTENANCE?
If you do not maintain your asphalt pavement, it will deteriorate at an accelerated rate. The sun can dry out the binder holding the pavement together, cracks will form, and potholes can develop. The foundation can become destabilized, and an unstable foundation can lead to alligator cracking, larger potholes, and deeper cracks. Your parking lot will have a shorter life and require costlier repairs. However, there are other potential consequences if you neglect your parking lot. The safety of those using your lot can be impacted, and you could find yourself as a defendant in a lawsuit if someone suffers a personal injury or damages his vehicle. You could lose business if customers or tenants find your parking lot unwelcoming, and your reputation as a responsible, caring company could be tarnished. Furthermore, if your parking lot layout does not fully comply with the ADA requirements for safety and design, you could possibly be sued or fined.
WHAT ARE THE CRITICAL ASPHALT MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES?
Your parking lot’s overall condition, the age of the pavement, the amount of maintenance it has received since its installation, and the traffic your lot receives can affect the type and frequency of the procedures it needs. However, parking lot maintenance companies typically recommend the following.
1. Apply sealcoating once your new pavement has fully cured, then repeat the procedure every two to five years. Sealcoat blocks the radiation from the sun that leaves asphalt faded and dry, and it can retard the progress of automotive fluids that can create soft spots in the pavement. Sealants can also restore the color of the pavement.
2. Have your contractor repair significant cracks every 6 to 12 months. The longer that cracks remain open to the elements, the more likely it becomes that the damage can extend to all layers of the structure. Cracks never grow smaller.
3. Clean, visible stripes around your parking spaces and easily identifiable pavement markings can improve safety in your parking lot. Drivers will experience less confusion, and pedestrians will be able to identify the safest route between their cars and your entrance. When you need to repaint your markings and stripes, ask you contractor to check your parking lot design to ensure that traffic flow is optimized to eliminate congestion areas. It would be best if you also asked your contractor to verify that your design meets ADA requirements.
4. Remove piles of sand, gravel, or trash that can damage or stain your sealant. Oil and other petrochemical spills should be thoroughly cleaned as soon as possible; they will be easier to remove while they are fresh. As petrochemicals will eventually penetrate your sealant and reach your pavement, you should not let these spills remain for more than a few months.
Affordable Striping & Sealing is committed to helping customers get the most from their paving investments. We specialize in parking lot maintenance for properties throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Our services include traffic sign and bumper block installations, sealcoating, parking lot design, asphalt crack repair, and parking lot striping and pavement markings. We have an
REALITIES OF FAMILY COURT
A HEATED DEBATE OVER THE FAMILY COURT SYSTEM
Veterans In Politics' video internet talk show interviewed a former prosecutor and owner of a law office. The guest has practiced law for 17 years and added that they chose family law over criminal law because in family law you can make a real difference, and in criminal law, most of your clients have done something wrong and you get them a soft landing. They added that a relocation case is heartbreaking, as it takes one parent from the other, and that family court judges are the hardest-working judges in the county.
The host wanted to know why the family court judge ordered litigants to get a drug test on pure allegations without any evidence to support the allegations. The host pounded on the issue and said according to Nevada Law only a criminal judge can order drug testing of litigants and civil judges has no jurisdiction to make such an order adding that family court judges are civil judges not criminal. The guest said if you are ordered to take a drug test and you refuse, it’s deemed dirty. The host said wait a minute if you stand up for your constitutional rights and the law, how is your lack of drug testing deemed dirty? The host continued that If they want to change the law, they need to lobby the legislature for the law to change until then they need to follow the law.
By: Steve Sanson, Veterans in PoliticsThe host then suggested having a jury trial or a tribunal in family court when dealing with the relocation of children and termination of parental rights. The guest answered that family court cases are complex and you can’t trust a jury to do that. The host pushed back and said wait a minute, in criminal court a jury decides prison or freedom, life or death, but a jury can’t make a decision on relocation or termination of parental rights. The guest added that a jury doesn’t have the understanding of the family court, yet a jury can decide if you live or die.
In relation to Veteran's service-connected disability benefits, the guest said a family court judge cannot order the federal government to garnish your service-connected disability benefits. The host said that the federal law protects a veteran’s disability benefits but some family court judges believe that they are entitled to take it from them.
The host brought up the fact that attorneys walk off cases without notice abandoning the litigant in the courtroom and the judges allow this to happen. While the guest said, this behavior is against the law. The host said if we keep turning a deaf ear and a blind eye to the corruption in our courtroom, it becomes normalized. The guest said they do not see any corruption in the courtroom.
The host said corruption has many faces. The host wanted to know why litigants are considered to be vexatious when attorneys are just as bad or in some cases worse but yet they are not considered vexatious by the court. In addition, this is a violation of their constitutional right to be heard in a court of law. In closing, the guest said all it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing!

WE ARE HERE
In a world of uncertainty, security has become an almost indisputable need for events, celebrities, government officials and much more. Las Vegas, the entertainment capital of the world, homes one very special security organization that shines above the rest.
Protective Force International, founded by Chief Jonathan Alvarez and Deputy Chief Andre Scott, began with the hope to fill Nevada’s need for better security standards for others to follow.
What started out as a few hundred dollars, a laptop, and the dream of having a premiere security service that is equipped, trained, and able to respond to a multitude of incidents, Jonathan and Andre have already made a difference in the Las Vegas community. Protective Force International, PFI for short, has transformed into Southern Nevada’s support for community service and security operations in just under three years. PFI provides Unarmed Security Officers, Armed Security Officers, Investigators, Patrol Operations, K9 Officers, and Security Consulting.
Jonathan and Andre built PFI based on serving the community through many aspects. To their clients, they provide a
basic security/safety plan but continually learn to adapt and overcome not only client’s needs, but society’s ever-changing climate. Every client is different, every area of operation is different, and tailoring to client’s needs is their specialty. To the community, PFI enjoys getting involved, volunteering, and monetarily contributing to local charities, and even have their own Non-profit (501-c3) called “Protective Force International CDC” (Community Development Corporation), hoping to provide resources to Military Veterans and others in the community.
One of the most impactful aspects of PFI’s growth can be attributed to investing back into its employees through higher-than-average pay and great benefits. Another great aspect is their ability to train and equip Security Officers, providing them with the confidence and knowledge to address issues that arise. Additionally, PFI owns its own training institute - “Protective Force Internation-
al Training Institute” where they professionally train their Security Officers.
This year, PFI has much to look forward to. Their new tactical supply store is called “Protective Force Tactical” and will not only supply all security operations and PFI employees gear but will supply the public with high quality selections of excellent brands.
Jonathan and the Officers at PFI want to protect and make a difference in the community, whether that be providing security, providing the city with tactical gear, or contributing to local charities. Jonathan says, “We do what’s right and stick by our motto, “We are Here”.” MV

ROSA RISTORANTE
Who knew that high-quality dining was right in Henderson’s backyard?
Nestled tight on St. Rose Parkway in Henderson, Rosa Ristorante features a nostalgic Italian American menu and will easily become your new favorite family restaurant. Open since early 2022, the buzz has stayed quiet- until now. We are happy to be a part of getting the well-deserved word out.
MyVegas had the opportunity to try out a sampling of what Rosa has to offer and suffice it to say, they exceeded our expectations. When we first arrived, we felt at home right away. And that was an important goal of the Executive Chef and Owner of Rosa, Rob Moore. As a former executive chef in a variety of Strip restaurants including Prime Steakhouse at the Bellagio and Jean Georges Steakhouse at the ARIA, Rob knew it was time to bring the superior quality and stylings of fine dining to your neighborhood.
The concept of the restaurant is an open, but intimate setting for families, date nights, office meetings, parties, and more, featuring a luxurious dinner, brunch, and full wine and cocktail menu. Plus, with their patio seating, they did not miss the weekend brunch boat by a long shot. There is also premium seating, including seating at the chef’s table for an up close and personal chef experience, as well as semi-private seating in the back of the restaurant.
Let’s start with cocktails, because why not? We learned that the Manager, David, creates all their concoctions, and he recommended the Rob Fox and the Pineapple Basil Smash. Both had a light flavor and perfect punch that would soon pair well with the
For starters, we began with Cheesy Risotto Fritters and the Beef Carpaccio, which- if I had to choose between the two, I would come back for those
perfectly crunchy, cheesy fritters. For some light eats, we also tried the Mushroom Pizza and the Antipasto Salad. The salad was fantastic, everyone loves a great chopped salad, but my shining star was the brick oven pizza. Something about this dish, the med ley of mushrooms, fontina cheese and lemon and a perfect crust is unlike any mushroom pizza I’ve ever had. A must try, if you ask me.
For our main course sampling, we got a specially made Rigatoni Alla Vodka pasta with Lobster. Probably the best pasta sauce I’ve ever had, and the lobster topped the cake. Soon also came their Swordfish Picat ta with lemon & caper butter sauce which is a must for seafood lovers. I also talked Chef Rob into letting us try his legendary steak, he is known for it after all! If you come here for one thing, please let it be the Ribeye Medal lion, medium rare. Believe me.
There are familiar authentic Italian flavors you’ll recognize and appreciate, but something about everything on the menu is elevated to a level you can’t exactly describe. Our best reasoning and explanation would be the years of expertise in Chef Rob’s repertoire. It’s undeniable, and something that Henderson should feel lucky to have so close to them. It’s not just evidenced in the food, but also in the quality of service. Chef wants to know that you love the food and frequently walks around the restaurant to meet people. A family restaurant takes a whole new meaning, as he will become a quick friend. He might even cook you up something special!
Come to Rosa for your next dinner and see what your neighborhood had been missing for too long!

THE TRUE TASTE OF THE SOUTH
Since a young age, John Holland, Executive Chef and Owner of Rollin Smoke Barbeque, knew that cooking was in his bones. Growing up, John would ask his mother to prepare the Thanksgiving desserts, and even grilled for his friends and co-workers after long days in the Arkansas oil fields.
At only 24 years old, John decided to pursue his culinary dream and move to Las Vegas to attend La Cordon Bleu.
John soon realized that not a single BBQ restaurant around the valley resembled the true Southern roots of home. He decided it was time to take his mobile smoker/grill to the side of Russell Road, in a hardware store parking lot with his dad and brother to put the true taste of the South in everyone’s mouth. The first day, the team sold 3 sandwiches. The second day, they sold 7 and continued to grow their business, deciding to open their first brick and mortar location in 2012. Shortly after, Rick Harrison and his father became regulars at the restaurant, eventually offering them a partnership in the plaza next to Gold and Silver Pawn Shop.
John had no idea that his once small mobile smoker/grill would grow to this extent, and continuously expand. Winning numerous BBQ competitions, receiving national recognition in the top 16 Hottest New Barbeque restaurants, recognition as Top 20 best Barbeque restaurants in the country, being featured on channels like Food Network, Discovery Channel, and many more are just a few of Rollin Smoke’s accomplishments over the years.
The moment you walk through the door of any of their three Las Vegas locations, you are met with genuine Southern hospitality. The meats are smoked with Hickory wood and prepared with the “low and slow” process, and you can taste the love and effort put into the mouthwatering meats at Rollin Smoke. Some of the most famous dishes at the restaurant include the Fried Catfish, Beef Ribs, and Smoked Meatloaf. The diverse menu and homemade sauces cover a range of palates, especially the BBQ craving ones.
Serving delectable barbeque is not the only astounding act that John and his team bring to the Vegas community. At the Highland location, they have a special menu where a portion of the proceeds go to “Critical Care Comics,” an incredible

group that dresses up as comic book characters and reads to sick children. They also enjoy participating in Pigs for Kids charity cook-off and the Best Dam BBQ in Boulder City. They donate to a plethora of organizations throughout the city and continue to look for more opportunities to give back.
In the next ten years, there are exciting plans of expansion to bring their BBQ and southern love all over the United States. They also offer sauces and rubs on the website, as well as catering services for 10 to 10,000 people. Stay tuned as they continue to keep Rollin’! MV

LIMONCELLO FRESH ITALIAN KITCHEN
Now, a completely different atmosphere of culinary Mediterranean fusion, you will find Limoncello Fresh Italian Kitchen. Featuring broad menu options and one-of-a-kind surroundings, Limoncello has created an upscale restaurant with a casual, refined ambience, and the menu of your Italian dreams.
Owners Giuseppe Bavarese and his wife Jenny worked hand-in-hand during a nine month build out to create a restaurant that brings people together to lavish in fresh, authentic Italian dishes. In November 2019, they officially opened their doors to the public, and gained the community’s support right away, as Bavarese recalls serving over 300 guests a night for dinner in the first weeks of opening.
Giuseppe, who also developed Prosecco Fresh Italian Kitchen in the southeast area, is the kind of restaurateur that Las Vegas strives for. Requiring only the best ingredients, the highest quality beef and poultry, and the most traditional methods of cooking for their signature dishes, it is no wonder that Limoncello has received such praise after two years.
During the pandemic, Bavarese made the decision to close for two months to refine the menu, to ensure he can still provide the same overall experience through a changing world and dynamic. Now a dinner-only restaurant, with a shortened menu, guests can still expect the same incredible service and freshness. A 35year restaurant industry pro, and owner of several restaurants over the years, Bavarese believes in quality over quantity.
After developing and opening Prosecco to full capacity, he and his wife sold their shares to build a more structured and refined setting with private rooms in Limoncello Fresh Italian Kitchen. Giuseppe Bavarese knows a pandemic cannot slow down the people out there that appreciate quality flavors and dishes.
When dining with Limoncello, you can expect freshness from the pasta to the prime meat, and everything in between. While fresh doesn’t always mean healthy, in Limoncello’s case, it pretty much does. Their chef Eric Gaitain, from New York, cooks on the healthy side, so it’s not a cheat meal unless you opt for dessert too! But still expect impeccable flavor and savory to every choice on their menu, it is something they hold very strongly.
Have we mentioned their fresh seafood display case, where you can choose your catch for the night? Seafood lovers will be in awe, especially with their South African prawn, featured for a limited time per season. As for their pasta, Bavarese says, “People love the Pappardelle Bolognese and the Amatriciana with guanciale (cured pork jowl), and we’re doing carbonara the original way, real Italian.” For those who enjoy the classics like Chicken Parmigiana or even Pizza, you will find your new favorite place for these delicacies.
An 8,000-sqare foot space, able to host event groups of up to 325 people and private rooms able to seat up to 80 people, Limoncello’s philosophy is the best is just good enough. Exceeding the best, their restaurant offers an ambience that
is simply unmatched. Their private rooms are the perfect place for your next event, whether it be for special events, wedding, corporate events, and more. Find ease in parking for guests and find bliss in their event menus.
There is truly no stone left unturned at Limoncello. It is hard to imagine that the famous Macayo’s restaurant was ever in its place, as it seems the community has been waiting for a restaurant like Limoncello. Enjoy fresh Italian cuisine and the flavors of the Amalfi coast; Visit Limoncello for your next night out. MV

PAMPAS LAS VEGAS
You will probably be drawn in with an incredible aroma of spit-roasted meats, or the South American music playing. But what will keep you coming back is the never-ending variety of meats and sides, and the unceasing hospitality.
Honoring the Gaucho culture and cuisine, Pampas brings traditional Brazilian
barbecue into a contemporary setting and style. They’ve graciously created a welcoming atmosphere to serve endless meats, and the passadores (servers) to present the food with pride and knowledge. Guests are presented with an enticing parade of meats, are taught what each cut of meat is, and can even choose the level of doneness they prefer. Manager, Kevin Lopes, says, “In true rodizio fash-
ion, our staff keeps the food coming until the customer is satisfied. Now that’s an experience!”
There is nothing better than a perfectly cooked cut of meat, and Pampas has that down to a science. Their most well-known cuts of meat include the picanha, which is their top sirloin seasoned with kosher salt and cooked slowly with its fat cap over an open flame, so it bastes naturally while it’s roasting. The result is a tender and flavorful cut of beef. Along with their quality selection of meats you will also find an endless buffet of sides and salads. Among them, make sure to try the pão de queijo, also known as Brazilian cheese bread, which always comes fresh from the oven. Don’t forget to take advantage of their full bar, with traditional options and Brazilian classic cocktails.
And if you thought that you can only enjoy delicious meats at their location on the Strip, think again! Pampas offers full catering services so you can enjoy Brazilian barbecue wherever and whenever you need it. There are also four banquet and special event areas, able to accommodate up to 350 people. From your wedding reception to your office holiday party, Pampas does it all!
There will be many exciting things coming this year for Pampas, as they are excited to announce a multi-million dollar remodel that will elevate the dining experience, as well as a new and updated menu. Celebrating over 17 years of serving Las Vegas, Pampas Churrascaria offers a unique, authentic experience that is truly one of a kind. For lunch or dinner, it is all about bringing families and friends together to enjoy the best Brazilian barbecue that Las Vegas has to offer.
We hope to see you soon at Pampas, the original Las Vegas Strip churrascaria. MV

WHEN IT COMES TO GIVING, NO ONE GIVES LIKE
From backyard parties to performing on festival stages, Steven Cade is your up-and-coming modern country artist, with a mission to provide inspiration and hope for those in need of a second chance. Cade’s purpose for performing has evolved from seeing the impact that music has on people in all realms of artistic elements and contributions.
From carrying messages of positivity through his lyrics, to ensuring the sound itself embodies a joyful and feel-good presence, Cade’s music is universal and empowering.
In our interview, Cade recalls the message behind one of his top 5 Spotify streamed songs, “Pinky Promise.”
“This song has a direct message about families and parenting…you respect your family, honor and value it. You don’t always have them forever. It’s a song I feel is a great thing that can bring families together.”
Joining Steven through this journey is his wife Kellee and two children, Levi and Eliana. They travel together across the states to shelters as well as music concert venues and are at most shows and events. The importance of family and faith are significant and recurring themes in his brilliant songwriting. Driving the creative process behind his music is actually finding inspiration in casual conversations, observations, and dialogue from everyday events. Cade describes it as “hearing a phrase that has a ring to it.”
The flow of life not only influenced his music, but it has also motivated Cade’s latest project, which gives back to those in need. It was his own experience with homelessness, and trust in faith that led to partnering with Brent Yates and The Gravity of Up, and Giving Guitars was formed. Brent Yates is a philanthropist, author and entrepreneur. Cade says that without God bringing Brent into his family’s life, Giving Guitars would not exist today. “He is one of the most giving human beings I know”, says Cade.
Steven Cade is utilizing his passion for music along with his desire to inspire, and tour the United States, serving those in need.
On his Giving Guitars Tour stops so far, Cade has donated over 100 guitars to over 54 different homeless shelters across 13 states, and raised thousands of dollars in
donations for the organizations.
“Music is a gift from God, and using these instruments to inspire is what we are setting out to do.” -Steven Cade
Giving Guitars has frequently been featured on local news stations across the country, taking a deep dive into what this organization means to him and those in need of positive influence.
The main goals of this tour is to inspire individuals who are in need and experiencing homelessness. Also, he encourages people in the community to visit their local shelters and give their time, talent or treasure.
Cade explained that many of the homeless people he has met have never seen a concert or held a guitar in their hand. When Cade goes into the shelters he tells the residents that this is a season in their life, and to not give up. He leaves the guitars with the shelters for the residents to use, and believes that music can really help change and impact their lives in a positive way.
After visiting and touring many shelters, Cade better understands the obstacles that tie into homelessness. These include drug and alcohol addiction, generational poverty, human trafficking, domestic violence, veterans with mental health issues from PTSD, sudden loss of job and income. There are people with highly decorated degrees losing their jobs, as well as seniors who are having a tough time keeping up with the new technology of this era.
Cade’s vision for the Giving Guitars organization is to raise awareness and encourage other artists, influencers, corporate brands, communities etc. to also consistently participate in assisting the homeless in this country. He strives to motivate everyone else to do their part. The more we all help one another little by little, the more progress we will see collectively.
Music is a powerful healing modality during these difficult times, and Cade acknowledges the responsibilities that come with being a great artist. It is the duality within him that creates both a musician and a humanitarian. His mission is to spread love and guide others back on the right path. Because no matter what the circumstances may be, everyone deserves another chance.

A NIGHT OUT IN VEGAS
For the lumberjack in all of us, Dueling Axes inside Area15 is a must visit. The MyVegas team had the chance to stop by for a night out, and we had a very axe-citing time! (Pun #1)
Axe throwing is the new fun activity for adults, because who wouldn’t want to throw axes at a wall for fun? And while drunk?! Sounds like the perfect night if you can handle it! (Pun #2) Well, Dueling Axes kicks it up a notch, Vegas style, by going “cosmic” from 8pm-close on Fridays and Saturdays. Known as Cosmic Axes, this experience is a completely black lit and neon adventure for you and your friends to “glow throw,” as they call it. Set with a rotating DJ series and a full menu of cosmic drinks, there will be no axes to grind here. (Pun #3- and I promise I’ll stop.)
Whether or not you get the VIP experience like we had the pleasure to, you’ll get your own lane for your specified time of throwing. And be sure to show up early so you can get some safety and technique training from axe-pert coaches beforehand. (Pun #4- and that’s the last one!) Learning the proper techniques makes it fair for everyone, especially when they have a variety of games to try.
Don’t we all love a little competition? But believe us, you do not have to be a pro to have fun. In fact, you may have way more fun if you aren’t good at it, but maybe that was just the alcohol- or just us.
In your throwing package, you’ll have access to their incredible full bar menu of cocktails, beers, and wines, and their cosmic drinks- which are picture-worthy for sure. Your coach is also your server, so no running back and forth from the bar unless you want to. While they don’t have their own food menu, you’re welcome to bring food or order food from the neighboring eateries within AREA15. They will deliver straight to your lane! Also, they’re very accommodating of party size, so plan out a party or bring your office like we did!
AREA15 continues to get cooler, and Dueling Axes might be their best addition yet. All you’ll need is a good attitude and a tab open, and you’re set for a great night out in Vegas.
Check out their website for more of their activities, like Throwback Thursday and Ladies Night.
Graceful. Passionate. Soulful. These are just a few words to describe Windy Karigianes and her unique brand of musical storytelling. An accomplished singer, songwriter, and self-proclaimed visual abstract artist, Karigianes has had an affinity for the musical arts since the age of 11. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, she was exposed to music by her father who was a singer, songwriter and guitarist out of Chicago, Illinois. Aside from her father Jimmy K, Windy was influenced by a musically diverse group of entertainers, which includes the likes of artists such as Elvis Presley, Luther Vandross, Nancy Wilson, and Pat Benatar. Windy cut her musical teeth singing professionally at the age of 16 in a jazz club at the top of the Mint Hotel in Downtown Las Vegas and since then, she has performed in various places around the United States (New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco) France and Japan. Currently, she performs in Las Vegas once a month at the Gatsby Supper club in Henderson, Maxan Jazz Club, and The Dispensary Lounge.
In January 2022, Windy Karigianes released her first single. The single entitled I Can’t Wait (from the album “Pacific Shore”) can be heard on iHeart Music Radio, as well as KUNV 91.5 and other internet radio stations. Also, her music can be heard (and purchased) on iTunes, Amazon Music, Shazam, Spotify, and other streaming platforms. I Can’t Wait is a slow tempo ballad that boasts great musicianship and pristine digital production quality. Windy Karigianes delivers a sound that is incomparable in today’s musical landscape. Her sensuous voice compliments the track, as her light, airy, whispering tone soothes and seduces the listener, without lacking depth and range. This record definitely defines Karigianes as someone who cannot be defined at all. The listener can feel all of her musical influences blending perfectly; think, the timing of Linda Ronstadt, with the swagger of
Nancy Wilson. Windy is no slouch with the pen either. The way this song is arranged is lyrical decision making at its best. The harmony that she sings brings an ambience to the track that’s undeniable, and further, it solidifies her technical proficiency as a professional singer/songwriter. Simply put, I Can't Wait hits every mark as the quintessential Jazz love song.
Windy Karigianes also has a unique philosophy behind her music. She feels no need to put herself in a proverbial box. “A great song, is a great song. Now let's play it with a jazz twist,” is her motto. When asked what is the one thing that she would want the public to know about herself, her art, and what she stands for as an artist, she replies, “All of my creativity comes from a place of passion, inspiration and love. I love music in all of its forms and colors. Especially Interpretive Jazz, as it allows for the freedom of expression; to interpret a song the way one wishes without boundaries or limits. I believe that music is the universal language of love.” These sentiments are evident in her new release “Pacific Shore”, which features I Can’t Wait, but also features recordings like the inspirational Don’t Give Up, and the hauntingly sensual Distant Lover.
Currently, Windy Karigianes is gearing up to work on a new project that will include original songs, as well as some cover songs. We are confident that this new project will signify a new era of rock, country, and soul. We are also excited to see what is next for the lovely Windy Karigianes as she embarks on this next musical journey.
Windy is an accomplished songwriter with her acclaimed European hit song “Butterfly'' co-written by the late pianist and composer Vernell Brown Jr.
