STUDENT MINISTRY
Accepting Christ into your life is step one of a lifelong discipleship adventure. We’re here to help with the rest of your journey! Throughout the year, we offer classes to deepen your faith journey and help you live more in Christ’s image. We offer a once-a-year event called the “Day of Discipleship” that presents a speaker and seminars covering ways to live into your faith. Our inaugural event, held in October, attracted over 100 people! We sponsor the Women’s and Men’s Ministries, offering studies, breakfasts, and retreats each year. We also sponsor the Community Groups, made up of peers who engage in learning, growth, mission, and fellowship. Each group is open for new members and happily invites anyone who wants to share time with Christian peers. This past fall we launched Alpha and The Marriage Course (also from Alpha), involving nearly a hundred people. Both will be offered regularly, providing a way to bring friends and family to a gentle introduction to Christianity (or a great refresher course). We also offered Summer Movie Nights for families in June and July. Last year we made an exciting launch of RightNow Media, a website free to use with thousands of video courses and other offerings on a wide range of Christian topics. And we’re just getting started – we have plans and dreams to help you continue to become the disciple Jesus called you to be.
At VPC Student Ministry, God has moved in incredible ways throughout 2016! 18 students have come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord for the first time and many more have grown in their discipleship throughout the year, which is more than we could ever ask or imagine! Our weekly groups have continued to be fruitful. This year we had the privilege of welcoming 7 students as members of VPC through our confirmation class. In 2016 we also began our High School Leadership experience inviting our juniors and seniors to become Junior High ministry leaders. They have all stepped into the role in amazing ways and have blessed many through this process. Lastly, another large victory this year came from starting a year-long internship position for a college student looking to go into full time ministry upon their college graduation. We have been blessed by the leadership of Joseph Parisi in this position who has stepped in and done a fantastic job leading our junior high students. We thank you for your support this past year and ask that you continue to pray for this ministry. We are also praying for you and for your involvement in our students’ lives. Our hope in 2017 is for all generations to be a part of our student ministry. God is paving the way and we aim to follow closely with each step we take. Blessings in 2017!

PRAYER
DIVORCE RECOVERY
The Prayer Ministry at VPC is a ministry of every member and friend of the congregation. It is a ministry that takes place in the worship service, in homes, in schools, and in every moment that the people of God come to Him with their thanks, their confessions, and their needs. House of Prayer is a group within VPC that intentionally prays each week for specific people and events in the church. Each week, the “prayer” receives an email with a devotion on prayer and prayers to pray for that week. The weekly email is a connection point in building a church life of prayer and seeking God. Divorce Recovery Ministry underwent significant adjustments in 2016 as we welcomed our new facilitator, Anna Kohls, a licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked on developing a program that provides needed information, encouragement, and ample time for discussion. This past year the study themes included topics such as grief and loss, anger, forgiveness, boundaries, and hope for the holidays. The class included include teaching, resources guides for assistance outside of class, group discussion and processing and prayer. -David Turner
