Perry Li, owner of the Cocky Rooster Café, enthusiastically admits, “the restaurant is my playground. I’m not working; I’m playing.” From his first baked creation as a child, a cherry cheesecake that he didn’t share with anyone, Li’s passion and work ethic led him to become a master chef and successful entrepreneur.
Li studied Culinary Arts at Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island. But working for Chef Volcker Frick was where he learned cuttingedge culinary skills. Cooking classical European cuisine at the highest level led to his ability to prepare exceptional food at lower price points. The items on the Cocky

Li and his wife, Lynette, opened the café in 2012. He takes great joy in starting the restaurant from the ground up. As a chef and entrepreneur, “It’s the food that comes first. Once you make sure the food is going to taste good, and people will enjoy what you prepared, then you are running the business well.”
The Cocky Rooster Café also caters. “Whatever anyone can imagine, I can create,” states Li. The restaurant, located at 1382 Howland Blvd. in Deltona, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stop by to delight in one of Li’s culinary masterpieces!

Li, who emigrated from Taiwan at a young age, had an early start in the restaurant business. At twelve, he bussed tables at Peking Gardens. At sixteen, he managed a Pizza Hut. “I had so much fun working in the restaurants,” Li states. But the idea to become a chef came when he received a culinary school flyer. “What? You can go to college to be a chef?” was Li’s delighted reaction.

Campbell Park is named for William H. Campbell, a Deltona resident who was a casualty in the Vietnam War. The 14 acres grounds include a floating dock, fishing piers, waterfront observation deck and boardwalk, basketball court, beach volleyball court, lighted tennis court, playground, walking trail, and pavilions. With so many amenities, this would be the perfect place to host your next birthday party or family gathering.

Throughout the last year, the sight of cheesecake minis and full slices have made the rounds through a variety of events and social gatherings in and around the city of Deltona.

Since the beginning of the year, when the city of Deltona began providing space for area food trucks at Wes Crile Park on Friday evenings, “Cheesecake Chinos” has remained a staple at “Friday Night Bites” and has continued crafting new flavors and building quite the following. Although the weekly event at Wes Crile is typically reserved for food trucks, Mr. Obeso is consistently there.
