AUDIS LOUISE GWALTNEY Audis Louise Gwaltney age 93, of Smithville, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 in Mena, Arkansas. She was born in July 26, 1925 in Octavia, Oklahoma to the late Carl Walter Hilton and the late Eva Maggard Hilton. Audis was loving and dedicated to her family. Above all she loved and served God with her heart and soul. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting was her favorite hobby. She was a kind mother and a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her. Audis will be dearly missed. She is survived by sons: Wendell Kent Gwaltney of Wharton, Texas, Perry Faron Gwaltney of Conway, Arkansas; daughters: Phyllis LaVerne Rose of Conway, Arkansas, Cheryl Kay Gwaltney of Smithville, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Barbra Bush of McAllister, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Shelley Ebmeyer and husband Michael of Conway, Arkansas, Corey Rose and wife Desha of Conway, Arkansas, Della Holt and husband Greg of Meeker, Oklahoma, Ryan Batchelor and wife April of Octavia, Oklahoma, Mandy Copelen and husband Shawn of Krebs, Oklahoma, Dustin Gwaltney and wife Patricia of Midwest City, Oklahoma; sister, Helen Mae Brown of Newcastle, Oklahoma; sister (in-law), Doris Hilton of Jacksonville, Missouri; special friend Charlotte Littrel; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Eva Hilton; husband, Paul Gwaltney; a son Gaylen Gwaltney; brothers, Desmond Hilton and CJ Hilton; and sisters: Gladys Capehart “Dean” and Okla Kirkpatrick. Funeral service were Friday, March 8, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Octavia Baptist Church with Brother Ed Rogers officiating. Interment followed in the Octavia Cemetery under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. Visitation was two hours prior to service at Octavia Baptist Church. HELEN GRACE EGGER PHILPOT Helen Grace Egger Philpot passed from this life into the arms of our Lord on March 6, 2019 at the age of 101 years and 7 months. She died peacefully at Mena Manor in Mena, Arkansas, surrounded by her daughters. Helen was born July 22, 1917, as the eldest child of Amos and Grace Egger. She was the matriarch of six generations of the Philpot family, with 86 total descendants. Helen had 5 children, 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Owen Philpot; brothers: Ronald Egger, Dean Egger; sister, Susie Egger Snelgrove; son, Jim Philpot; grandson, Stan Ryals;, granddaughter, Barbara Beck; and great granddaughter, Kari Lyle. Helen is survived by her daughters: Mary Ryals and husband Leon, twins- Nell Langston and husband Carlos, Dell Willhite, and Judy Cannon; her grandkids: Dennis Philpot, Steve Philpot, Sandy Lyle, Melanie Titsworth, Terri Kenyon, Mike Ryals, Eudell Head, Keith Head, Tammy Rodgers, Donny Beck, Danny Beck, Deanna Beck, Denise Symens, and Stephanie Brown; along with many other descendants. Helen was born and raised in Highland, except for the three years her father was a fire watchman on Rich Mountain. The family lived below the lookout tower and walked the 2 miles to Eagleton weekly for supplies. She married Owen Philpot and lived in the Highland area. They also moved to Twain Harte, California twice in the 1930’s to work in the lumber industry, and eventually moved to Mena in 1982. Helen was a homemaker and a Sunday School teacher at the Methodist Church in Highland and Cherry Hill for 45 years. She was an excellent cook and seamstress, and loved to garden and crochet. She was devoted to her family and was a faithful Christian who loved to read the bible. While Helen didn’t want to leave her daughters here on Earth, she was ready to go home and be with the Lord, Owen, Jim, and other beloved family members already in Heaven. We will miss her but look forward to seeing her again someday. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cherry

Hill Methodist Church with Brothers Mark Lyle, Dennis Philpot and Joe Head officiating. Interment followed in Highland Cemetery in Highland, Arkansas under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home. Visitation was general. Pallbearers were Dennis Philpot, Steve Philpot, Mike Ryals, Eudell Head, Keith Head and Curt Symens. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Brown, Donny Beck and Danny Beck. JUSTIN WATKINS Justin Watkins from Wickes, Arkansas born on November 8, 1980 in DeQueen, Arkansas left this life at 38 years old on Ash Wednesday, March 6, 2019. Justin was surrounded by love ones and Christian music for his transition to one of Gods mountains in Heaven. Justin bravely battled with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) he sustained seven years ago when he was struck by a vehicle operated by intoxicated driver while in a crosswalk. Left to treasure his memory are his mother, Cathy (Don) Talley of Wickes, Arkansas; father, W.C. (Gail) Watkins, Jr. of Wickes, Arkansas; brothers: Joe (Lista) Watkins of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Gerald (Heather) Watkins of Wickes, Arkansas; step sisters: Kari ( Pete) Winters of Farmington, Arkansas and Kristin (Sohn) Morris of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; grandparents: Joseph and Joan Compagna of Wickes, Arkansas; uncles: David (Cheryl) Compagna of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Ken (Dee) Compagna of Wickes, Arkansas; and aunts: Carol Petross Elizabeth (Don) Richardson and Charlotte Hartley all of Wickes, Arkansas. He cherished his nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He never failed to pick on them. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Paul Joseph, Lerntine Compagne, W.C. Watkins, Sr., Christine Watkins, James Smalley, Mary Millaway, David and Mary Talley; and an aunt, June Weishmer. Justin was sent for cremation under the direction of the Beasley Wood Funeral Home of Mena. A Private Memorial service will be at a later date.

LENA MAXINE BOBO BATES WORNICK Mrs. Lena Maxine Bobo Bates Wornick, age 86, of Mena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 in Mena. She was born on October 18, 1932 in Alf, Arkansas to the late Newlin Harvey Bobo and the late Nettie Alene Diggs Bobo. Maxine married Joffery William Bates on September 16, 1950 for 37 years. On February 11, 1988 she married Dale Lenord Wornick and was married for 20 years until he passed. Maxine retired from US Motors after 20 years and ran the Polk County Ambulance Service for several years. She recently retired from the Senior Citizens Center in Mt. Ida, a position she dearly loved. She was a faithful member of the Liberty Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a member and past president of the Warm Hearts Humane Society in Montgomery County. She loved to sew and crochet and also enjoyed singing, cooking and attending family reunions with her beloved family and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all she met. She is survived by sons: Ivan Bates and wife Rosalee of Mena, Arkansas, Darryl Bates and wife Robin of Pocahontas, Arkansas, Mike Bates of Mena, Arkansas; sister, Nadene Hoover of Norman, Arkansas; 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; her 3 dogs: Smokey, Bobo and Brownie; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Joffery William Bates and
