Band Spectacular set GREENVILLE – The Darke County Fair will host the annual Band Spectacular in front of the Grandstand on Aug. 24, 7 p.m. The Band Spectacular features bands from Darke County Schools and the surrounding area.

Livestock sales
GREENVILLE – Junior Fair participants have worked with livestock and other projects throughout the year in anticipation of the 2014 Great Darke County Fair. The concerts began 35 years ago and the entertainment that has appeared in front of the Grandstand is remarkable. Legendary names like Barbara Mandrell, Statler Brothers, Loretta Lynn, Sandi Patty, George Jones, Kenny Rogers, Styx, Foreigner and the Beach Boys are just a few of the names that have entertained fans at the Great Darke County Fair. Coffee with the Summer Pedal Pull Commissioner is Aug. 28 at the fair GREENVILLE – Children from 3-8 years old will have an opportunity to see who has the most pedal power at the National Kiddie Tractor Pullers Association’s Darke County Fair Summer Pedal Pull. The event will take place Aug. 28 in the Swine Barn, 6 p.m. The pull will start promptly at 6 p.m. Registration is from 5-6 p.m.

ness Racing returns to the Great Darke County Fair seven shows and 52 races. There is free admission to all races and post time is as follows: Aug. 21, 7 p.m.; Aug. 22, 1 and 7 p.m.; Aug. 27, 1 and 7 p.m.; Aug. 28, noon and 7 p.m.
All pedal tractor pull contestants must have a parent or guardian sign the proper registration and consent form before entering the pull lane. All equipment will be furnished for six classes. Each class is pulled separately. Age classes are 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8 year old boys and girls. The pull will be conducted under the National Kiddie Tractor Pullers rules and regulations. Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place. All entries will receive a participation ribbon. The Darke County Agricultural Society is sponsoring the trophies. GREENVILLE – August is Fair month! Since Darke County has Greatest County Fair in the State and everybody is at the fair, this month’s “Coffee with the Commissioner” will be at the Great Darke County Fair. Mike Stegall will be spending a lot of time at the fair, mostly at the Republican Tent, so stop on by, say hello, and ask any question you wish. He is scheduled to be
there three times, Aug. 21, 4-6 p.m., Aug. 24, 4-8 p.m., and Aug. 28, 4-6 p.m., but he will be in and out most of the week. This is the best opportunity to meet your elected officials, talk to them, and find out what is planned for Darke County, and what is happening. Please stop by and meet your county officials and enjoy the Great Darke County Fair.
Championship Horse Pull set for Aug. 27 GREENVILLE – The Championship Horse Pulling Contest at the Great Darke County Fair will be held Aug. 27, in the South Horse Show Arena. The Mini Pull will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the Horse Pull begins at 7:30 p.m. The total

purse for the 2015 event is $3,225. There is a $5 entry fee per team. The rain date is Aug. 29. First place in the Mini Pull will earn $100 with cash awards through 12th place (2nd, $90; 3rd, $70; 4th, $50; 5th, $45; 6th, $40; and 7th-12th, $30) First place in the Horse Pull will earn $400 with cash awards through 15th place (2nd, $300; 3rd, $250; 4th, 200; 5th, $195; 6th, $185; 7th, $175; 8th, $165; 9th, $155; 10th, $125; and 11th-15th, $100). There is free admission to the Horse Pull with a purchased Gate Ticket. Horses may enter gate #5 (State Route 121).
