Konopiste is surrounded by thick forest, so throughout its existence hunting was a popular pursuit for the nobility staying there. WEDNESDAY, 26TH AUGUST | We meet at the airport at 6.50am for our Air Malta flight departing at 8.50am. On arrival in Munich airport at 11.10am, our coach takes us to our 4 star Hotel Zum Hirschen in Zell am See. After check-in we can join our tour leader to explore Zell am See’s medieval centre, most of it is traffic-free with a variety of shops and attractive pavement cafés. One can opt to have a boat ride on the lake (extra) before we proceed to Schmittenhöhe. The Schmittenhöhe is Austria’s most beautiful panorama mountain (cable car extra). From here, we will have a spectacular view of more than 30 mountain peaks ranging up to 3000 metres. Later we have a short walk back to Zell am See centre.

THURSDAY, 27TH AUGUST | For our full day optional excursion today we head to the Austrian Tyrol. Our first stop is in Kufstein, second largest city in Tyrol after Innsbruck. We stroll around this town by the lush banks of the River Inn, admire the colourful house facades and the impressive Römerhofgasse. We visit Kufstein Fortress (extra) the land mark which enthrones on its elevated position in the centre of the town. In the afternoon, we head to the small sophisticated town of Kitzbuhel with its cobbled streets, upmarket shops, cafes and colourful frescoed shops.
SATURDAY, 29TH AUGUST | Today our full day optional excursion first takes us to the Hallein Salt-Mines (extra), the oldest mines in the world. Together with the local guide, we hop aboard the mine train for a fun-filled ride into the centre of the mountain. Our next stop is in Mondsee, a typical quaint Austrian Village on the banks of Lake Mondsee and with the lovely Cathedral used for the wedding scene in the famous movie ‘The Sound of Music’ as its centre. Later, we go to the historic spa town of St Wolfgang, one of the prettiest villages in the Salzkammergut, first mentioned in the year 976.

To-date, the Kapruner Ache has managed to cut its way 32 metres deep on its 320 metres long path through Sigmund-Thun Gorge, creating strikingly smooth stretches of rock, basins and potholes. We shall proceed to the Alps where, weather permitting, we view Austria’s highest peak, the Grossglockner and its surrounding snow-capped peaks. We shall take the funicular (extra) and go down to the glacier, the Pasterze. MONDAY, 31ST AUGUST | Today we have an optional full day excursion to the internationally renowned city of Salzburg, with one of the best preserved city centres north of the Alps. THURSDAY, 10TH SEPTEMBER | We meet our tour leader at the Airport at 4.15pm. At 6.15pm our Air Malta flight departs to Lisbon, where on arrival at 8.40pm we will be transferred to our central hotel in Fatima. FRIDAY, 11TH SEPTEMBER | Breakfast will be followed by a familiarization walk with the tour leader and among other places we visit the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, the Chapel of Apparitions, the Basilica and other places of interest in connection with Our Lady of Fatima. We will have the opportunity for a group photograph. In the afternoon we go on an optional half day excursion to Batalha, Alcobaca and Nazare. We make our way to Batalha to see the Gothic Cathedral. Some free time before we continue our way to Alcobaca to visit the monastery. Afterwards we proceed to Nazare, the sea side and fishing resort on the Atlantic coast. After dinner we participate in the procession Aux Flambeaux on the main square in front of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima.

SATURDAY, 12TH SEPTEMBER | Today we join the religious functions attended by thousands of pilgrims marking the 12th and 13th day of the month. On the 13th day of six consecutive months in 1917 beginning on May 13, our Lady appeared to the shepherd children, during which they related that the apparition called herself the “Lady of the Rosary”. By means of a mini train (extra), we visit Valinhos where we follow the Stations of the Cross near the little chapel. Afterwards we go to Ajustrel to visit the houses where the three shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco used to live. SUNDAY, 13TH SEPTEMBER | The highlight of today’s programme is when we join pilgrims from around the world and participate in the International Mass during which there will be the blessing of the sick and the farewell procession, a loving Adeus farewell to the statue of Our Lady of the Rosary. In the afternoon we board our coach and go on a half day optional excursion to Coimbra. Sister Lucia used to live in the Carmelite Convent in Coimbra.

Here we see the Church of Saint Isabel and the University. MONDAY, 14TH SEPTEMBER | After breakfast we join the tour leader for a full day optional excursion to Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. (During part of this excursion the group will be accompanied by a local English speaking guide.) We will see the monument dedicated to Henry the Navigator, the Belem Tower, the Moorish Citadel and the Black Horse Square. In the afternoon we go to Alfama, the place where St. Anthony was born, with its streets decorated with beautiful tiles. We have some free time for personal sightseeing and shopping before we make our way back to Fatima. TUESDAY, 15TH SEPTEMBER | Breakfast followed by a half day optional excursion to Tomar and the caves of Mira d’Aire. On arriving at the top of a hill overlooking Tomar, we visit the Templars Monastery (entrance extra). From here we have a very beautiful panoramic view of pictur-
esque Tomar. We proceed to the caves at Mira d’Aire for a guided tour of these spectacular caves and the fantastic show of the dancing waters (entrance extra). On returning to Fatima free time for personal sightseeing.
THURSDAY, 8TH OCTOBER | We meet our tour leader at the Airport at 4.30pm. At 6.30pm our Air Malta flight departs to Lisbon, where on arrival at 8.55pm we will be transferred to our central hotel in Fatima.
WEDNESDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER | Today, after breakfast, we offer you an opportunity to travel towards the north of Portugal on our optional full day excursion to Oporto, one of the largest and most important commercial cities in Portugal. (During part of this excursion the group will be accompanied by a local English speaking guide.) We shall visit the pedestrian shopping area and other interesting places.

WEDNESDAY, 16TH SEPTEMBER | We meet at the airport at 1pm for our Air Malta flight to Frankfurt departing at 3.20pm. On arrival at 6.05pm, our coach drives us to our 3 Star Hotel Bayrischerhof in Heidelberg for check-in. Familiarisation walk before dinner (extra). THURSDAY, 17TH SEPTEMBER | Our first optional half day excursion will take us on a city tour. We meet the local English speaking guide to take us around Heidelberg, the city of romance. We will explore the Old Town and admire the most interesting sights when walking through the longest pedestrian zones in Germany, seeing the Church of the Holy Spirit and admire the views of the Neckar River and the beautiful Carl Theodor Old Bridge, connecting the two sides of the river. After lunch (extra) we continue to visit the Klosterhof Brewery (extra) where the brew master will explain the necessary steps before a beer is ready for the tap, the volume capacity of the storage tanks, and what it takes to make a fine brew. Afterwards, we can sample a variety of beers (only for clients over 16 yrs), alongside homemade pretzels You’ll certainly discover your favourite while listening to short anecdotes about one of the world’s favorite beverages. FRIDAY, 18TH SEPTEMBER | A full day optional excursion takes us to visit Stuttgart, the sixth largest German city. Our short walking tour will end in Palace Square, where we can see the Old and New Palaces. During our stay here we can stroll along the

1,100m pedestrian Konigstrasse, a shopping paradise packed with a wide variety of shops for any taste. One may opt to visit on his own, the Mercedes-Benz Museum (extra). The museum takes you through a journey of more than 130 years of fascinating automotive history and on into the future. Arrangements will be done by the tour leader for those interested to visit the Mercedes-Benz Museum at their leisure. SATURDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER | Today we go on a full day optional excursion to Baden Baden, an “oasis of peace and relaxation”. Together with our local guide we go round this fascinating town with a thousand faces which will bring a wide smile to yours. The Romans were the first to be drawn to the springs in the Black Forest. The old town has many worthwhile sites, and wandering the town’s quaint alleys and laneways is a perfect way to admire the Baroque architecture. SUNDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER | The day is free to enjoy Heidelberg or it is suggested to join the group and spend an optional full day trip to indulge ourselves at the famous Eu-

MONDAY, 21ST SEPTEMBER | Today’s optional full day excursion with a late morning departure, will take us to the German Romantic Road town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. The fact that this city is compact, it is actually a huge advantage for the tourist to see the best sights in one day. We can see the City Wall guarded by 70 towers, the iconic image of the Plonlein Corner, the Renessaince Town Hall and its dominant 61m Tower, the clock ‘Meistertrunk’ which re-enacts the 1631 event hourly starting from 11.00 am, St Jacob’s Church and the Castle Gardens. One should also taste the Schneeball, a deep-fried dough shaped like a snowball and covered with confectioner’s sugar or chocolate. TUESDAY, 22ND SEPTEMBER | Today’s full day optional excursion will take us to Wurzburg, another Romantic Road town. tage Site. We will start our visit from the the Residence Square and later meet the local guide who will take us around one of the most beautiful palaces in Germany. We will admire the palace’s baroque architecture, the marvel of the beautiful staircase, the salon, the chapel and many other attractions which are real treasures. We will also visit the Hofgarten in the Residence’s grounds (weather permitting), widely considered as the best-preserved Rococo garden in Germany. We will later proceed to the city centre where we will see the Marienberg Fortress, Wurzburg Cathedral, St Mary’s Chapel and the magnificent structure of the Old Bride above the River Main. WEDNESDAY, 23RD SEPTEMBER | We check-out from the hotel to make our way to Frankfurt Airport. On the way we will stop in Bensheim, where we will visit the old town and roam about the pedestrian zone surrounded by handsome half-timbered houses, wonderfully restored that take you back to the wealth of the medieval age. We will then proceed to the airport for our Air Malta flight departing at 6.55pm and arriving in Malta at 9.30pm.
