Fourth Annual Softball Olympics held The Malad High School Softball team held their Fourth Annual Softball Olympics on Wednesday, July 20. There were 14 girls competing, divided into two separate teams. Each team was tasked with the job of creating their own team name and cheer. After a quick softball team practice, the Olympics began. There was a wide variety of events for the players to participate in. The events included Water Balloon Toss, Head-Shoulders-Knees Grab the Ball game, Hitting a Coach with a wet sponge for points, and ended with Water Softball. Awards were presented to the players at the end of the events. Beth
McClain won the Wettest Frog Award. Hallie Horsley won the Fanciest Flamingo Slide award, and Riglee Peterson won the Happiest Harry Hedgehog award. After the closing of the Olympics and the presentation of the awards, the team went to KJs for a snack and drink. Coach Christie Schow said she had several players come up to her afterward and tell her that the Softball Olympics are their favorite part of the season. “It builds team unity and is a way for the girls to be silly and have fun outside of our regular season,” she added.

MHS Football holds Team Camp, ending with a scrimmage The Malad High School Football team worked hard to prepare for their upcoming 2022 season with a five day team camp for all incoming 9th-12th grade. The players went to camp twice a day early in the camp, practicing with just helmet in the morning and then pads in the afternoon. The camp was full pads so the players were able to practice with some contact as well. They worked Monday through Thursday, July 18 - 21. Then, on Friday, July 22, the team ended their camp with a trip to West Side for a scrimmage game. The scrimmage was held for the Varsity and the JV teams. They trav-
eled to West Side to face West Side and South Fremont. Each team had 15 plays to run on offense, then worked on defense against their opponents. There were also some other activities for the players to participate in that morning. Malad High School’s Head Coach Coby Crozier said “You could tell right as we got off the bus that we were outnumbered almost 2:1 but that didn’t mean we didn’t compete. The JV looked very good for being composed of mostly Freshman. Varsity looked very good as well. Most of our struggles we had were things that we would be able to game plan for prior to
