I graduated from Clovis High School in 1997 and completed my Masters Degree in Physical Therapy in 2007 at CSU Fresno. After practicing for 7 years I decided to go back to school to get my doctorate degree. I completed an additional 18 months of rigorous training to complete my doctorate degree with an emphasis in orthopedics. Katie and I decided to open our own practice in August of 2014. She is an incredible behind the scenes support to the practice. I couldn’t do it without her. I love what I do and enjoy going to work every day.

I am motivated and strengthened every day by my loving family and my faith. “No other success can compensate for failure in the home.” – David O. McKay

NAVIGATING YOUR WAY TO THE RIGHT PHYSICAL THERAPIST

Choosing the right physical therapist is crucial for effective rehabilitation and optimal recovery. Here are the top five points to consider when making this important decision.

Credentials and Expertise: Look for a physical therapist who is licensed and has the necessary certifications and qualifications. Verify their educational background, specialization, and experience in treating your specific condition or injury. A therapist with advanced certifications or specialization in areas such as sports medicine or orthopedics can provide a higher level of expertise.

Communication and Rapport: Effective communication is essential for a successful therapist-patient relationship. Consider a therapist who listens attentively, explains the treatment plan clearly, and addresses your concerns. A good rapport and trust between you and the therapist foster a positive healing environment.

Treatment Approach and Techniques: Different therapists may employ various treatment approaches and techniques. Research and understand the methods commonly used in physical therapy, such as manual therapy, exercise programs, or modalities like ultrasound or electrical stimulation. Ensure that the therapist's approach aligns with your preferences and goals.

Availability and Location: Consider the convenience of the therapist's location and schedule. A therapist who is easily accessible and offers flexible appointment times can simplify your treatment process. Evaluate whether the clinic is equipped with the necessary equipment and facilities for comprehensive care.

SAMPLE

Patient Reviews and Recommendations: Read patient reviews and seek recommendations from trusted sources. Insights from others who have experienced therapy with a particular practitioner can provide valuable information about their effectiveness, professionalism, and patient satisfaction.

Remember, choosing a physical therapist is a personal decision based on your unique needs. By considering these points, you can make an informed choice and increase the likelihood of a successful rehabilitation experience.

Bringing Families Together: The Power of Family Therapy

Recognizing when it's time to seek the help of a therapist is an important step towards maintaining your mental health and overall well-being. Here are some key signs that indicate it may be time to consider therapy:

Persistent Emotional Distress: If you find yourself experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, or anger that impact your daily life and relationships, it may be a sign that therapy could be beneficial. Therapy provides a safe space to explore and address these emotions.

Difficulty Coping with Life Transitions: Major life changes like the loss of a loved one, divorce, job loss, or relocation can be overwhelming. If you find it challenging to navigate these transitions or adjust to new circumstances, therapy can offer support and guidance.

Relationship Issues: Persistent conflicts, communication breakdowns, or difficulties in establishing and maintaining healthy relationships are common reasons to seek therapy. A therapist can provide insights and tools to improve relationship dynamics and foster healthier connections.

Unhealthy Coping Mechanisms: If you find yourself turning to unhealthy coping mechanisms such as substance abuse, excessive eating, self-harm, or isolating yourself from others, it is essential to seek professional help. Therapy can assist in developing healthier coping strategies and breaking destructive patterns.

SAMPLE

Decreased Functioning: If you notice a significant decline in your ability to perform everyday tasks, whether at work, school, or home, it may indicate a need for therapy. Therapy can help you regain motivation, improve focus, and develop strategies to enhance your functioning.

Trauma or Past Experiences: Traumatic events or unresolved past experiences can have long-lasting effects on mental health. If you are struggling with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), intrusive thoughts, nightmares, or flashbacks, therapy can be instrumental in processing and healing from these experiences.

Remember, seeking therapy does not mean there is something inherently wrong with you. It is a proactive step towards self-care and personal growth. If you resonate with any of these signs, reaching out to a licensed therapist can provide the support and guidance needed to navigate life's challenges and cultivate emotional well-being.

WHEN IT’S TIME TO SEE AN ENDODONTIST

SAMPLE

When it comes to dental health, it's important to address any issues promptly to prevent further complications. If you're experiencing problems with the inner structures of your teeth, it may be time to see an endodontist. Endodontists are dental specialists who focus on the diagnosis and treatment of the dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of teeth. Here are the top five reasons why you should consider seeing an endodontist:

Persistent Tooth Pain: If you're suffering from persistent tooth pain, it could be a sign of an underlying issue such as deep decay or an infected dental pulp. Endodontists specialize in diagnosing and treating these conditions, providing relief from chronic toothaches.

Dental Trauma: If you've experienced dental trauma, such as a cracked or fractured tooth due to an injury, an endodontist can help save your tooth.

12

They are skilled in performing root canal treatments and other procedures to repair and preserve damaged teeth.

Sensitivity to Temperature:

If you experience sharp pain or sensitivity to hot or cold foods and beverages, it could indicate an infection or damage to the dental pulp. An endodontist can determine the cause of your sensitivity and recommend appropriate treatment options.

Abscess or Swelling: A dental abscess is a pocket of pus caused by a bacterial infection. It can lead to severe pain, swelling, and even facial swelling. Endodontists are experts in treating abscesses and can provide the necessary treatment to alleviate your symptoms and prevent further complications.

Failed Dental Procedures: If you've previously undergone a dental procedure, such as a root canal, and it has failed to resolve your dental issue, it's time to see an endodontist. They specialize in retreatment procedures, ensuring that the problem is properly addressed and resolved.

In conclusion, if you're experiencing persistent tooth pain, dental trauma, sensitivity to temperature, ab-

scesses, or have had a failed dental procedure, it's important to schedule an appointment with an endodontist. These dental specialists have the expertise and training to diagnose and treat complex issues related to the dental pulp, helping you maintain a healthy and pain-free smile. Don't delay seeking professional care as early intervention can save your natural teeth and prevent further complications.

Pediatric Dentistry: The Key to Children's

Parents want to use a pediatric dentist for their children for a variety of reasons. While some parents may opt to take their children to a general dentist, there are many benefits to choosing a pediatric dentist.

First and foremost, pediatric dentists are specially trained to treat children. They are experts in dealing with the unique dental needs and behaviors of children. They understand how to communicate with children in a way that is non-threatening and non-frightening, which can help ease anxiety and fear associated with dental visits.

Pediatric dentists also have a deep understanding of the developmental stages of children’s teeth. They can detect and correct issues early on, which can prevent more serious dental problems in the future. They are also equipped to handle dental emergencies that may arise with children, such as chipped or knocked-out teeth.

Another benefit of choosing a pediatric dentist is that they often have specialized equipment and tools designed for children’s small mouths. They also offer a range of services tailored to children, such as fluoride treatments and sealants to protect against cavities.

Finally, pediatric dentists often have child-friendly offices that are designed to make children feel comfortable and at ease. This can include things like toys, games, and bright colors to create a fun and welcoming environment.

Overall, choosing a pediatric dentist for your child can provide a positive and stress-free dental experience. With their specialized training and expertise, pediatric dentists can help ensure that your child’s teeth and oral health are in good hands.

Revolutionizing Oral Health: The Impact of Modern Dentistry

Going to the dentist can be an intimidating experience, but it is also an important part of maintaining good oral health. Visiting a dentist that uses new technology can make the experience more comfortable and efficient.

SAMPLE

Modern dentistry has made great advances in technology, making procedures simpler and more precise. Digital X-rays and 3D imaging can quickly and accurately diagnose dental issues, while lasers and computer-aided design allow for more precise treatments. Advanced tools like these can help identify and treat problems before they become more serious.

New technologies also make treatments more comfortable. Lasers can be used for more precise and less invasive procedures, reducing the need for anesthesia and making recovery time faster. Computer-guided injections help make injections more accurate and reduce the amount of pain.

Visiting a dentist that uses new technology can also be more convenient. Digital tools can quickly provide detailed information about your teeth, eliminating the need for multiple office visits. This means that treatments can be completed in less time, reducing overall costs.

Finally, new technologies can provide a better overall experience. Digital records allow for personalized care that is tailored specifically to you. Digital tools can also help the dentist to explain the treatments in a more understandable and engaging way.

IS CRITICAL TO THEIR DENTAL HEALTH

As a parent, ensuring the well-being of your child is always a top priority. When it comes to their dental health, one crucial step is to take them to a pediatric dentist. While regular dental visits are essential for people of all ages, pediatric dentistry specializes in the oral health care of children from infancy through adolescence. Here’s why sending your child to a pediatric dentist is critical to their dental health.

WHY SENDING YOUR CHILD TO A PEDIATRIC DENTIST SAMPLE

First and foremost, pediatric dentists have specialized training that equips them with the knowledge and skills to cater to the unique dental needs of children. They understand the developmental stages of teeth and jaws, enabling them to detect any issues or abnormalities early on. Early intervention can prevent potential dental problems from worsening, ensuring a healthier smile for your child in the long run.

Moreover, pediatric dental offices are designed with children in mind. They create a welcoming and child-friendly environment, which helps ease anxiety and fear commonly associated with dental visits. From colorful waiting rooms to fun distractions, such as toys and video games, pediatric dentists create a positive experience that encourages children to develop a lifelong habit of regular dental check-ups.

Pediatric dentists also focus on educating both children and parents about proper oral hygiene practices. They provide

guidance on brushing and flossing techniques, nutrition advice, and preventive care, such as dental sealants and fluoride treatments. By instilling good oral hygiene habits from an early age, pediatric dentists play a vital role in preventing cavities, gum disease, and other dental issues.

Furthermore, pediatric dentists are skilled in handling children with special healthcare needs. They possess the expertise to cater to the unique challenges associated with conditions such as autism, Down syndrome, or developmental delays. By offering specialized care and creating a comfortable environment, pediatric dentists ensure that every child receives the attention and treatment they require.

In conclusion, sending your child to a pediatric dentist is critical to their dental health. The specialized training, child-friendly environment, preventive care, and education provided by pediatric dentists contribute to the overall well-being and long-term oral health of your child. By making regular visits to a pediatric dentist a priority, you are setting your child on the path to a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Dr. Jeff Evans, DDS

grew up in Bountiful, Utah. After graduating with a degree in finance from the University of Utah, he began his career working as a financial planner for Fidelity Investments. After two ears at Fidelity Dr. Evans made a major career change and returned to school to pursue his interest in dentistry.

Dr. Evans graduated from the Virginia Commonwealth School of Dentistry in Richmond, VA followed by a two year pediatric dental residency at the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and board certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He has hospital privileges at both Children’s Hospital Central California and Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center.

As a ski instructor Dr. Evans’ goal was to help his students enjoy skiing so they would want to come back and he follows this same philosophy when it comes to practicing dentistry. He loves working with kids and will do his best to make your child’s experience at the dentist office a great one so they will look forward to future visits.

Dr. Evans and his wife have four children. The Evans family enjoys spending time together whether it’s at the lake, on a bike ride, snow skiing, a family vacation, or simply playing in their backyard.
