Introduction This image is the first of a series devoted to the 1970s American muscle cars. For this illustration, I wanted to pay tribute to all those old road chase movies, so I began by collecting references from inspirational films using the Internet Movie Cars Database (imcdb.org). This website is a great source of references; you simply choose the car model you’re interested in modeling and the search engine gives you a list of films in which the car has been credited. Once I’d found some inspirational material for the scene, I then searched for a background that would fit in with the mood of the scene – a road in the middle of nowhere. The choice of cars for this illustration was easy. My aim was to represent a powerful muscle car, famous in the movies of the 1970s, with a contemporary police car.
