DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH OCTOBER 2018

In the United States, every minute, an average of 20 men and women are physically abused by an intimate partner. Add it all up and that equals more than 10 million abuse victims per year. We, the Military community, shine a light on this critical issue by declaring the month of October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. We mourn those who have lost their lives, celebrate those who have survived, and join with others in a combined effort to end domestic violence and to assure its victims that they are not alone. Please join us in emphasizing the importance of supporting every individual’s basic right to be free from violence regardless of race, sex, age, or sexual orientations, and to help our survivors find safety, seek justice, and enjoy and full and healthy life.
