as dean of the academy boys. He was also a biology teacher and the commandant of both the high school and college military corps. As fate would have it, we were assigned to be in the same quarters in the boys' dormitory with two other new faculty members. He asked me to help in teaching some courses in ROTC and PE which I gladly agreed to because I enjoyed those things. From then on we were together on the drill grounds, as well as in PE camping. Aside from these two fields, we also had other interests like basketball and soccer. We were either playing with students, or officiating in the games. We also played badminton with the other teachers. Teaching together as well as playing together gave us plenty of enjoyable times. Then something sort of wild got into our heads. We decided to climb Mt. Kitanglad. So with Polbert Diaz and Leopoldo Aggabao, we left on a bus one early morning bound for the town which we considered closest to the mountain trail. It was about 25 kilometers to the top of the mountain. We got to the telecommunications station at the top of one of the peaks at about 9:30 that night. That was the very first climb to the top of Mt. Kitanglad by MVCians. We climbed together a few more times after that, with increasing numbers of persons with us. Eventually our paths separated, he moved to another school, I stayed at MVC. Then I came to California. We still met a few more times, once in St. Louis, MIssouri at the General Conference session there, at another time we met again in Redlands, CA. The last time we met he was in the ICU of Miller Sanitarium and Hospital. We saw his daughter outside the room so we asked her if it was okay to see him. He was very sick then but he told us when we went to his bedside that he knew it was us, my wife and I, who came to visit. He recognized our voices. We visited him again the following week, and that was the last time we saw him. He passed away the following year.
