“My Answered Prayer” By Milady Dolar Sowa, BSN’93

I

had been praying for healing and how to deal with our primary charge nurse who was bullying me since last July when I moved to day shift. He was micro-managing me, saying negative remarks and always watching my every move at the Medical Telemetry Unit. It’s been stressful. I had been praying that God will give me courage and strength daily when I work with him. I had been praying that the Lord will heal my wound, that I could keep forgiving him and to help me deal with this. God has been guiding me and inspiring me to continue to do my best for my patients, their families, and my team. God has helped me to remember that serving is my calling and I'm doing this for Him. Also, I tried to ignore the negativity, facial expressions, negative gestures and keep pressing on with my nursing duties. My nurse manager was aware of the situation and she told him to "leave Milady alone." So in the last 3 months, he has not bothered me anymore. I just keep doing my utmost best, asking God to sustain me "one shift at a time" then I’d go home and enjoy my family. I'd been enjoying work and have peace nowadays. I believe that God has taken away my hurt and healed me. Instead of waiting for him to change, God has changed my heart and mind, making me brave, courageous and not affected by people's negativity and unkind actions. God has taught me to just "focus on Him" and to continue to do my utmost best in all things that I do. I praise God. He is my constant Companion and Inspiration. I thrive in His goodness, forgiveness, unfailing love, mercy and grace. To Him I give the glory and honor forever and ever. Milady, I am so sorry you experienced being bullied at work! But I applaud you for reporting the bullying. That took a lot of courage and strength! That took a lot of leadership on your part. I am so proud of you for standing up, not only for yourself but also for making your workplace a better place to be at, i.e., less toxic. And I even applaud you more for taking the extra step to attain healing for the damage done, healing through the Great Physician. You are one amazing young lady!
