Our gallery has always been interested in this artist, renowned by historians and appreciated by many French and foreign art lovers. His paintings and gouaches are fairly numerous, but there has never been any exhibition or monograph published on the artist. When the idea of the exhibition was raised, we of course were reliant on the help and collaboration of the artist’s descendants. We received an enthusiastic welcome from Cyril Klein-Montézin, great grand-son of the painter. Continuing the work of Jean-Pierre KleinMontézin, his father, on the Catalogue Raisonné, he opened his archives to us and has largely continued to edit the catalogue. We are very grateful to him particularly, as well as Françoise Klein-Montezin, John Meulkens, Marijke Zielstra and Mark Spanbroek, Benita Kusel, and David Mason for their generous contribution to this first exhibition of the artist in London.
La galerie s’est intéressé depuis longtemps à cet artiste reconnu des historiens et apprécié de nombreux amateurs français et étrangers. Ses tableaux et gouaches sont assez nombreuses mais aucune exposition ou monographie n’a jamais été publiées sur l’artiste. Quand l’idée d’une exposition s’est posée, l’aide et la collaboration des descendants de l’artiste était bien sûr nécessaire. Nous avons reçu un accueil enthousiaste de Cyril Klein-Montézin l’arrière petit-fils du peintre. Poursuivant l’élaboration du Catalogue Raisonné commencé par son père Jean-Pierre Klein-Montézin il nous a ouvert ses archives et a largement continué à la rédaction de ce catalogue.
