A GROWING COMMUNITY serving students in Pre-K, as young as three years old, through kindergarten. In two short years, Mundo Verde has grown from the seeds of an idea to a fully staffed and enrolled school of over 230 students. Mundo Verde students learn in Spanish and English, plant gardens, cook, and enjoy sustainably prepared meals. Mundo Verde has also begun to lead and convene discussions in the local community, working with public and private organizations to address a host of urban issues around the school.

Mundo Verde is honored to have been awarded the J.F. Cook School at 30 P Street NW, D.C. to revitalize it as a permanent home for its elementary school program. The reuse of an existing building is well-aligned with the
HISTORY A group of parents, motivated by the unmet demand for quality, tuition-free, experiential education, teamed up incorporated in 2008 and awarded a charter from the D.C. Public Charter School Board in spring of 2010 with a full founding board of directors that included educators, environmentalists, and leaders from the Latino community. On April 19, 2010, the D.C. Public Charter School board granted its conditional approval for Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School to open in August 2011.
in the District focusing on Education for Sustainability. The combination of bilingual education and Expeditionary Learning is also unique in the D.C., and Mundo Verde has been recognized both nationally and locally for a school-wide commitment to sustainability education and practice.
