THE WORLD’S BUILDERS

SERIE 8 BY JFA JFA has just started the construction of a new Serie 8, whose interior accommodation has been completely revised by Franck Darnet Design. A luxury yacht whose program will have you dreaming: its owner is considering a round the world trip, passing via Ushuaia, the Antarctic, then a long cruise in the Pacific and Indian Oceans before returning to Europe via the Cape of Good Hope, then setting off for the far North. A voyage which promises to be magic on such a boat! Information: www.jfa-yachts.com

A DAY-CHARTER SEAWIND

Bluewater 50 by Discovery Yachts Discovery Yachts is presenting a brand-new catamaran, with this Bluewater 50, once again designed by Dixon Yacht Design. A catamaran for demanding owners looking for an elegant, modern, seaworthy, comfortable ocean cruiser! Aboard the Bluewater 50, the builder and the designer have worked particularly hard on the light and the on-board living areas, such as the new owner’s hull. As always at Discovery Yachts, numerous options allow the boat to be customized. The basic price advertised is £895,000, exc. tax. Information: www.discoveryyachts.com

The builder, whose production is now based in Vietnam, is continuing to renew its range, and has just announced that it has started building a daycharter version of the famous Seawind 1160. This version, called the 1160 Resort, can embark up to 43 passengers for day outings. The Seawind 1160 Resort can be ordered as a sailing or a motor version, depending on the owner’s choice, and will be easy to use – one sailor is enough to handle the catamaran – and maintain. MADAGASCAN M ULTI HULLS In the opinion of a lot of long-term cruisers, Madagascar is one of the most beautiful places in the world to cruise. The builder Tropical Boat is based on this exceptional island, constructing notably multihulls designed by Philippe Rivière. The motor catamaran and the trimaran in the photos are built in plywood/epoxy – the builder’s specialty – and were launched last month. Two simple but practical multihulls! VPLP INNOVATES At the last Monaco Boat Show, the architects VPLP presented a new concept boat which embodies the company’s vision of what could be the next trends in the multihull world. Komorebi 200 Wingsails Exploration Trimaran is a development of the concept created last year, but scaled up to 200 feet, retaining the incredible volumes and above all exploiting the catamaran’s hybrid character to the full – it is propelled by both engines and rigid wing sails which can be reefed. This mode of propulsion is the result of studies carried out on rigid wing sails by the office with Oracle Team USA for the America’s Cup, and the architects are continuing their work along these lines, to make things simpler. Moreover an 8 meter high prototype will soon be entering its test phase... For more information: www.vplp.fr
