Espino and Kopriva receive JSEA award Fernando Espino ’11 and John Kopriva ’11 were recognized at the 2011 commencement ceremonies as this year’s Jesuit Secondary Education Association (JSEA) award recipients. The JSEA award is presented to the graduate(s) who most closely resembles the “grad at grad” ideal: a well-rounded person who is intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving, and committed to justice in generous service to the people of God. In the fall, Espino will attend Harvard University while Kopriva will attend George Washington University. JSEA finalists from the Class of 2011 were Kevin Drees, William Fox, Ryan Grad, Robert Heffernan, and Christopher Scott.
$5.7 million in merit scholarships awarded to Class of 2011 The Class of 2011 earned a combined $5.7 million in merit scholarship funds and surpassed previous classes’ awarded scholarship totals. More than half of the graduating students will continue their education in Wisconsin with 57 attending UW-Madison, 33 attending Marquette University and 28 attending UW-Milwaukee. Another 35 graduates will be attending out-of-state Jesuit colleges and universities, including Boston College, Creighton University, Saint Louis University, John Carroll University, Saint Joseph’s University, Santa Clara University, and Xavier University.
