WAR! WAR! P E A C E ! PEACE! THE DEAD! THE DEAD! It is the time of war — and universal war. It is sometimes referred to as the Holy War — universal war — and is interpreted as such because every life in the universe is affected by this thing which we call war. The reason the universe is affected this time is because this one affects all human life on the planet earth. Why? Because this war involves the ruling powers of the nations of earth for the first time since the nations have been on the earth. Why should it affect them at this day? The answer is this war is a war to remove the chief powers—the rulers of this earth (the white race). Since this is the case, we have come face-to-face with the removal of a world. Therefore, we must understand — why war? THIS IS the understanding of 'Why War?' It actually takes war to remove chief authorities who will not submit to another chief of authority. Why then does it affect the universe when only earth is involved? It is due to the fact that the ruling powers of the earth have become so powerful that they seek to extend the war into space and to other planets if possible. This is why we say it is universal war, because that will bring into war t h a t which originally was not of the earth's ruling p o w e r . They have become so strong that they are affecting neutral powers — or I should say, they are spreading the war of the earth into the peaceful zone of the universe (the life on mars and venus). The Honorable Elijah Muhammad

Messenger By Elijah Muhammad

Messenger of Allah WHY SO MUCH talk about Black Power? Why are there so many improper answers given by the so-called Negro leaders, Christian preachers, black educators and black politicians of the U.S.A.? We must not forget that on August 28, 1966, at the International Amphitheater, the very origin of Black Power was given. Read the MUHAMMAD SPEAKS newspaper of that date. BUT YOU DO not like that explanation. Why? Because it placed the so-called Negro

Muhammad

in the position of being originally a brother of God. It revealed the mental death of the knowledge of self and the knowledge of the Supreme Being and the making and rulings of the devil over the American black slave and the Black Aboriginal Nation of the earth for the past 6,000 years. It makes the present black leadership fear and tremble to accept his own and to speak in defense of his own —in the presence of the devil. He has been crushed by white power and this makes him fear B l a c k Power (black rulership).

There was no event of- greater significance to the black man in America and the world in 1966 than the prophetic declarations delivered by the Messenger of Allah, the Honorable Elijah Muhammad. Throughout 1966, as throughout the past 36 years, this divinely-missioned leader to whom Allah appeared in the Person of Master W. Eard Muhammad more than three decades ago, courageously carried out his mission to lead the wax towards true freedom, justice and equality for the black matt in America—and to separate him from the destruction God has reserved for the world serpent, whose oppressive and evil rule is wearing its deserved end. "The wicked always believe they are mightier than Allah" the Messenger has written. "They make a supreme effort to thwart the plan and purpose of Allah to bring about a better world. "'They always love to attack the Messenger . . . The Holy Qur-an repeatedly prophesies a miserable, shameful and disgraceful defeat for the disbelievers and hypocrites m the campaign against the last messenger of Allah whom Allah would raise in the time of the resurrection of the dead people." The life-giving messages brought to the world in 1966 by the Messenger has alerted millions of men and women not only in America but throughout Asia and Africa; and in 1966, as in years before, an astonishing number of true world leaders of tomorrow continued to "beat a path" to the doorsteps of Messenger Muhammad— a door always open to those seeking the truth and the path towards freedom and liberation of the black man. The articles on these pages represent only a few excerpts from these life-giving messages which bear on the hex question of our times—the changing world, the demise of the old world and the bringing in of the new.

on Fear of Black WHITE POWER has been planting white supremacy and black inferiority in the minds of the Black Nation. According to the words of Allah, Who came in the Person of Master Fard Muhammad—to Whom praise is due forever — we, the so-called Negroes, were born and nursed under such untruth and teachings by the enemy. They put the fear of themselves in us. We were fed upon this fear as we nursed at our mothers' breasts. I cannot blame the poor black preachers for their fear to speak out in behalf of the spiritual truth that has come to them from the true religion of Allah, Islam (entire submission to the Will of God). THEIR F I R S T fathers were made preachers by the enemy of God. They are not

the preachers of the God of truth and justice since they are blind to the knowledge that they are the brothers of God. Some preach the truth from inspiration because they are the brothers of God and members of the Family of God. They are Gods themselves,, but they are asleep to the knowledge of it. * * * FOR THE past 4,000 years of his 6,000 years, the devils have proved themselves to be the enemies of God and the righteous, according to the translation of the Holy Qur-an by Maulana Muhammad Ali. The devil has tried to destroy the very nature of God out of the black slave in America and wherever he comes into contact with black people or any color, (Continued

Most Tragic Story of 1966

Viet Nam War

White

WASHINGTON—The most tragic story of the year 1966 is the ruthless use of black troops as buffers by white America in the bloody, barbaric aggression against the people of Viet Nam. THE INCREASINGLY disproportionate n u m b e r of black troops slaughtered in the „ genocidal conflict is spurring more and m o r e Negro leaders to castigate the blatantly - rigged U.S. draft policies which permit deferment of youths economically fortunate enough to attend college and doom the poverty-stricken, g h e t t o dwelling majority to involuntary military service. "America's use of Negro cannon - fodder against t h e black man's brother in Viet Nam follows the same pattern as the use of Africans and Asians to conquer and oppress Africa and Asia for hundreds of years by British, French, American and Portuguese imperialists," an African diplomat recently said on the floor of the United Nations General Assembly. H o w U.S. Sent Mother's Son to Death (Continued from page 5) tainly sent my last child to his death. Now I have nobody. She said she feels "sick to the s t o m a c h " when she thinks of fighting in Viet Nam, "where black boys are giving their lives in a war they don't understand and can't win. "I know at least eight Negro soldiers from my neighborhood who h a v e been killed in this war," she said. "I mourn for the mothers who are losing their sons. I k n o w what they're going through. The boys didn't know what they were fighting for and the mothers don't know, either." Mrs. McCullough said the damage is done now, and nothing she can do will bring her son back. "They interviewed me on television," she said, "and asked if I was angry with anyone. "I'M HEARTSICK a n d lonely and very sorry they broke their promise to me and P r e z e l , but I'm not really angry with anyone and I told them so. My last son is dead. There's no sense in trying to create trouble now." Mrs. McCullough is a book finisher for the Donnelly Publishing Co. She l i v e s alone in a small West Side flat, but plans to move to the South Side in the near future. "It isn't easy to go on in the same home when you've lost your entire family," she asserted. "This apartment has nothing but bittersweet memories. My one consolation is that I know I did all I could for my family. I even got them to promise they wouldn't send Prezel into b a t t l e . It wasn't my fault they broke their word and sent him to his death." U.N. Urges Gibraltar Peop'e Settlement

A CHIEF COMPLAINT of the Vietnamese people has been that American forces have tempted innocent Vietnamese women into one form or another of prostitution. Here,

an imported Vietnamese woman, a former actress, serves U.S. Army officers in North Carolina.

WIERD AND UNNATURAL accidents in recent years have been occurring all over North America. This one, in which eight school children were killed, happened in

Windsor, Ont. when a trailer-truck overturned and crushed into bus, carrying 30 tots en route to their classes, under tons of sand.

VIETNAMESE CHILD holds American-made cigarette in her hand while mother holds child in her arms, both unaware of the oft-repeated dangers inherent in smoking the cancerous weeds. American G.l.s however, fully aware of the cancercausing effects of tobacco, readily pass it out to Vietnamese children.

MUSIC can't all be bad. Some is worth sticking around to hear. This seems to be attested to by the crab perched atop the piano as

IT'S HARD TO TELL men from women in white society these days as the above photograph demonstrates. The bottom "Howard" the frog plays an amphibian's photo makes identification a little easier, but for clarity's sake blonde Kathy Temple (left) is the girl and dark-haired version of the "Deep Sea Blues." Bill Craddock is the boy.

Now Predict Unborn Child's Sex

ALBANY. N.Y. — The 100 per cent successful ability to predict a baby's sex during its mother's pregnancy has been announced by a group of Albany Medical Center scientists. THE TECHNIQUE calls for the microscopic examination of amniotic fluid cells removed from the mother's womb. With this method, "the sex of the f e t u s was predicted in 39 patients, accurately," the report said, and the earliest prediction in

the 39 cases was made during the sixth month of pregnancy. The s c i e n t i s t s do not recommend their test "to satisfy the curiosity of parents concerning the sex of the unborn baby," largely because the removal of amniotic fluid from the womb can be dangerous to mother and child. A detail report of the procedure has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The Ordeal of John Collins

Victim of Savage White Christian

The Horrible Ordeal of John Collins

West

This is the second installment of the story of John Collins, who suffered the torture of a savage castration at the hands of anti-Negro white bosses in Mississippi. Mr. Collins' story is one of countless testimonies of little-known victims of the steady diet of unjustified oppression of the black man in the Christian West.

"But some government : Willmore, the white whiskey maker of the town, told him men came down there and j| he wanted him to try a bit though. Say Doctors Can Diagnose M e n Prone to Heart Attacks Heart specialists can now study the activities of a man between the ages 39 and 59 and the amount of fat substances in his blood and predict with relative certainty whether or not he will suffer coronary heart disease in the following four and a half years. AUTHORS of a report in a recent Journal of the American Medical Association say that after studying 3,000 healthy, middle-aged men for four and one half years, they have found the man most likely to remain free of coronary heart disease is not overly aggressive or ambitious. In addition, this man has low levels of serum cholesterol, triglyceride and lipo-

proteins in his blood. These latter three lipids, or fat substances, have been associated with heart disease in many earlier studies. During the study, there were only three cases of coronary h e a r t disease among 499 men who displayed all these characteristics, the authors said. Eighteen cases could have been expected in an average group of men the same age. PERSONS who have low quantities of lipids, but are less relaxed and more ambitious cannot be given the same assurances, the article points out. However, these people appear to have two to three times more resistance to heart disease than the average persons.

Insect Food Dye Causes Poisoning Outbreak ALTANTA, Ga. — Investigations have shown that a bright red dye, made from insects and used to color foods, drugs and cosmetics is the probable cause of food poisoning in four states and England. THE U.S. public health service has linked 27 primary and 6 secondary cases of Salmonellosis — a type of food poisoning — to contaminated c a r m i n e dye, prepared from insects imported from Peru and the Canary Islands. Mostly used in candles, chewing gum, preservatives, Japan's Nuclear Ship

seasonings, ice cream, medicine capsules, pill coatings, pharmaceutical syrups, and other p r o d u c t s , the dye c a u s e d salmonellosis outb r e a k s in Massachusetts, California, Ohio, Oregon, and Exeter, England. Of the dye uses tested drugs and cosmetics were found not to be contaminated, the report said but, that all contaminated products have been removed from the market. PERSONS AFFECTED by the dye were traced to be hospitalized for gastrointestinal diagnosis, the center reported and insects used in the dye apparently were the contaminating factor. Because it is a natural dye rather than a synthetic dye it is not subject to food and drug administration color certification. Neither are food and drug labels required to list the dye.

Tips Against Hazards of Winter

NEW YORK — The American Medical Association magazine o f f e r s several pointers which may save winter drivers considerable trouble and possibly help prevent serious accidents when snow, ice and freezing rain makes driving extra hazardous. " G O O D DEFROSTERS are essential," states an article in Today's Health. "If yours are not in top shape, get them fixed. Get a scraper with a blade on one end and a snow brush on the other, and keep it ready under the

front seat. Also keep several large rags handy for wiping windows, headlights and taillights." The article recommends tires with good treads, or better still, snow tires. T i r e s should be kept at full, recommended air pressure, and a careful driver should keep a set of tire chains in his trunk for emergencies or severe conditions, the article continues. "Have your b r a k e s equalized; a little difference can twist you into a skid on ice. Have muffler and tail pipes checked for leaks that might be deadly. Equip your car with a small shovel, box of sand, traction mats and

Driving

tow rope for emergencies. "In a snow drift or on ice, start in second gear and power up just enough to avoid spinning the wheels. If you hit an unexpected ice patch, do not brake, accelerate or steer. Maintain speed and let your car "roll" through the slippery area. Steer in the direction of the skid. That is, if your car's rear end skids right, steer right. Attempts to jerk the wheel back straight will only make the skid worse." The magazine a r t i c l e states that winter calls for plenty of stopping room, a king-size interval behind the car ahead of you.

Survey Finds 6 % of White Americans Are Alcoholics, 6 % "Heavy Drinkers7 (Intercontinental News) WASHINGTON — M o r e than six per cent of white Americans are alcoholics; another six per cent a r e "heavy drinkers," while "infrequent-to-moderate drinkers make up 56 per cent" of the white adult population of America, according to a t e a m of researchers at George Washington University.

THE END is predicted by white man on college campus, and indeed the time for the end of the white man and his religion has come. This can be seen in Viet Nam, other parts of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Today, even the Beatles are more popular than Jesus.

"What world governments are doing is too little, too late in the present situation," said the World Food and Population Crisis Committee in announcing its formation. But he cautioned that the length of the war must be measured in years and that "more troops will be needed from our country and, hopefully, from the free world allies." THE LEADER OF the Illinois Democrats in Washington said that further cuts in the administration's war on poverty can be expected when Congress convenes. *

*

*

ALMOST HALF of a group of key Democratic leaders either believe their party would be better off with a candidate other than President Johnson in 1968 or are currently unwilling to indorse his renomination. However, few among 125 leading Democrats in 30 states interviewed by the New York Times were rash enough to predict that Johnson would be challenged for the nomination or lose it if he should be challenged. * * * TYPHOON PAMELA SPREAD destruction across thei central Philippines. Reports indicated that three persons died and thousands were left homeless after the storm raked a thickly populated area with winds of up to 82 miles per hour. The storm threatened to sideswipe the populous Luzon region, which includes Manila. * * * FORMER PRESIDENT DWIGHT D. Eisenhower said the U.S. government would work better if legislators and federal judges, including the Supreme Court, could serve for only a limited time. He also proposed that the term for Congressmen be lengthened from the present two years to four, with the Congress being elected at the same time as the President. * * * THE AVERAGE COST of educating a child in the nation's public schools rose 8 per cent during the last year, according to a recent survey. School Management, a magazine for school administrators, will report in its January issue that the average school district is spending $435 on each elementary school pupils versus $402 one year ago. THE OFFICIAL DEATH toll in the Viet Nam War's worst air disaster rose to 111 as American marines recovered more bodies from the charred village of Dinh Thai. T h e Messenger of Allah Presents

Cfje Jtttusltm Program ijat tfje Jfflusrttm* Want This is the question asked most frequently by both the whites and the blacks. The answers to this question I shall state as simply as possible. 1. We want freedom. We want a full and complete freedom. 2. We want justice. Equal justice under the law. We want justice applied equally to all, regardless of creed or class or color. 3. We want equality of opportunity. We want equal membership in society with the best in civilized society. 4. We want our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own—either on this continent or elsewhere. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to provide such land and that the area must be fertile and minerally rich. We believe that our former slave masters are obligated to maintain and supply our needs in this separate territory for the next 20 to 25 years—until we are able to produce and supply our own needs. Since we cannot get along with them in peace and equality, after giving them 400 years of our sweat and blood and receiving in return some of the worst treatment human beings have ever experienced, we believe our contributions to this land and the suffering forced upon us by white America, justifies our demand for complete separation in a state or territory of our own. 5. We want freedom for all Believers of Islam now held in federal prisons. We want freedom for all black men and women now under death sentence in innumerable prisons in the North as well as the South. We want every black man and woman to

have the freedom to accept or reject being separated from the slave master's children and establish a land of their own. We know that the above plan for the solution of the black and white conflict is the best and only answer to the problem between two people. 6. We want an immediate end to the police brutality and mob attacks against the socalled Negro throughout the United States. We believe that the Federal government should intercede to see that black men and women tried in white courts receive justice in accordance with the laws of the land—or allow us to build a new nation for ourselves, dedicated to justice, freedom and liberty. 7. As long as we are not allowed to establish a state or territory of our own, we demand not only equal justice under the laws of the United States, but equal employment opportunities—NOW! We do not believe that after 400 years of free or nearly free labor, sweat and blood, which has helped America become rich and powerful, that so many thousands of black people should have to subsist on relief, charity or live in poor houses. 8. We want the government of the United States to exempt our people from ALL taxation as long as we are deprived of equal justice under the laws of the land. 9. We want equal education—but separate schools up to 16 for boys and 18 for girls on the condition that the girls be sent to women's colleges and universities. We want all black children educated, taught and trained by their own teachers. Under such schooling system we believe we will make a better nation of people. The United States government should provide.

The Honorable Elijah Muhammad

8. WE BELIEVE in justice for all, whether in God or not; we believe as others, that we are due equal justice as human beings. We believe in equality—as a nation — of equals. We do not believe that we are equal with our slave masters in the status of "freed slaves." We recognize and respect American citizens as independent peoples and we respect their laws which govern this nation. 9. WE BELIEVE that the offer of integration is hypocritical and is made by those who are trying to deceive the black peoples into believing that their 400-year-old open enemies of freedom, justice and equality are, all of a sudden, their "friends." Furthermore, we believe that such deception is intended to prevent black people from realizing that the time in history has arrived for the separation from the whites of this nation. If the white people are truthful about their professed friendship toward the socalled Negro, they can prove it by dividing up America with their slaves. We do not believe that America will ever be able to furnish enough jobs for her own. millions of unemployed, in addition to jobs for the 20,000,000 black people as well.

Furthermore, we believe we are the peo1. WE BELIEVE in the One God Whose ple of God's choice, as it has been written, proper Name is Allah. that God would choose the rejected and the despised. We can find no other persons fit2. WE BELIEVE in the Holy Qur-an and ting description in these last days more in the Scriptures of all the Prophets of God. than this the so-called Negroes in America. We believe in the resurrection of the righteous. 3. WE BELIEVE in the truth of the Bible, but we believe that it has been tampered with 6. WE BELIEVE in the judgement; we and must be reinterpreted so that mankind believe this first judgement will take place as will not be snared by the falsehoods that have God revealed, in America . . . been added to it. 7. 10. WE BELIEVE that we who declared ourselves to be righteous Muslims, should not participate in wars which take the lives of humans. We do not believe this nation should force us to take part in such wars, for we have nothing to gain from it unless America agrees to give us the necessary territory wherein we may have something to fight for. 11. WE BELIEVE our women should be respected and protected as the women of other nationalities are respected and protected. 12. WE BELIEVE that Allah (God) appeared in the Person of Master W. Fard Muhammad, July, 1930; the long-awaited "Messiah" of the Christians and the "Mahdi" of the Muslims. We believe further and lastly that Allah is God and besides HIM there is no God and He will bring about a universal government of peace wherein we all can live in peace together.
