• What is the aim of MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA and what are the values represented by the brand? MUEBLE DE ESPAÑA - the brand created by ANIEME (Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters) - has consolidated itself as a highly international brand, a fact which is confirmed by the increasingly strong position of Spanish furniture in foreign markets and the ever greater number of countries to which Spain exports its products. The Spanish furnishing industry represents a very heterogeneous reality that combines the most refined handicraft tradition with cutting-edge manufacturing technology. Investments in research and development have led to an important improvement of the production processes, maximizing the creativity and innovation of our companies. As a result of this, Spanish furniture stands out not only for its high quality standards, but also for the stylish designs and the variety of an offer that is always catching up with new trends. Also African markets like Angola, Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea are some of the countries that are increasing their imports from Spain.

• What is the aim of ANIEME? What are the instruments of the Association in order to help the Spanish furniture companies to improve their exports and expand their business abroad? With the aim of expanding the presence of Spanish furniture companies in every market, especially in the emerging ones, ANIEME in collaboration with the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX), organizes the Furniture Foreign Trade Promotion Programme. Among other activities, this programme includes the Spanish participation at the most important international trade fairs of the sector and the organization of commercial missions and market research in order to look for new business opportunities for the Spanish Furniture companies.

The year 2010 closed with positive sign for Spanish furniture exports with an increase of 0’9% from January to December 2010. European markets are the main destinations for Spanish furniture: France, Portugal, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom are the main consumers. The countries that have increased mostly their imports from Spain are Germany, Morocco, Belgium and Saudi Arabia. During 2010 Spanish furniture imports increased 19’7%, the main origin countries are China, Portugal, Germany and Italy.
SPANISH FURNITURE TRADE 1st SEMESTER 2011 • • • •
From January to June 2011 Spanish furniture exports decreased 5’0%. The main destination markets keep the same as in 2010, concentrating in five European countries: France, Portugal, Germany, Italy and United Kingdom. The most important increases have been registered by United States and Russia during this period. Spanish furniture imports have decreased 6’5% during the first semester 2011. Exports of furniture produced in the Valencian Region have increased 3’8%.
EVOLUTION OF SPANISH FURNITURE PRODUCTION AND NUMBER OF COMPANIES • •
Spanish furniture production has decreased 6’1% in 2010, but following a positive evolution: 2009 the variation was of -24’1% compared with 2008. The number of Spanish furniture manufacturers has decreased 9’6% in 2010, the total amount of furniture companies in 2010 in Spain was 10.917.

The Spanish company Frajumar, associated to ANIEME, has worked on the interior design of Omeya Hotel in Tetouan, Morocco Specialized in the production of avant-garde furniture for home and contract use, the Spanish company FRAJUMAR, associated to ANIEME (Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters), has supplied a full range of furniture, lighting and decorative items to four-star hotel OMEYA, in Tetuan, Morocco. Working in close collaboration with interior designer Tarik Alcazar, Frajumar’s contract division has developed bespoke solutions for 60 guest rooms, 5 suites and the public spaces, such as the hall, 3 restaurants, 1 jazz club and the terrace. The company has provided a versatile range of stylish sofas, avant-garde chairs, armchairs and bedrooms, Art-deco inspired chairs and entrance hall tables, specifically designed to ensure comfort and relaxation.

GUADARTE furnishes the exclusive restaurant “BIANCO” in Miami GUADARTE, member-company of ANIEME (Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters), designs and produces furniture, lighting and high-end decorative items, being internationally known for its complete interior decoration projects. Thanks to its complete range of products (ceramics, glassware and mosaics, lighting, wrought iron products and upholstery), the company, that was founded in Seville in 1980 by its current president, Manuel Muñoz Medina, has become a referent in the high-end decoration field. MARINER selected for BISTANGO, the luxurious mega-yacht of Benetti Shipyard The Spanish company MARINER, associated to ANIEME, the Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters, has recently completed work on the refurbishment of the main deck of the luxurious Bistango, the 62-meter mega-yacht of the Italian Benetti Shipyard.
Founded in 1893, the company has specialized in high-end neoclassical and contemporary furniture and lighting. For this project it has provided black lacquered wood furniture of its NEVA collection, embellished by gold-leaf finishes, as well as classical lighting items. M/Y BISTANGO (FB244), built at Benetti Shipyard in Livorno (Italy), was displayed for the first time at nd th the Monaco Yacht Show, which took place from 22 to 25 September. With a cruising speed of 14.00 knot, this luxury motor yacht offers accommodation for up to 12 guests in 6 suites and 14 crew members, ensuring a sophisticated yet relaxing yacht experience.

SANCAL's products at Hotel Sofitel Stephansdom in Viena The Spanish company SANCAL, which is based in Yecla and is associated to ANIEME, has recently participated in the furnishing of the newly opened HOTEL SOFITEL STEPHANSDOM in Vienna. This state-of-the-art hotel, which was inaugurated last December 14th, was designed by the prestigious French architect Jean Nouvel (2008 Pritzker Prize). It is housed in Stilwerk, one of the most exclusive platforms for home interior and design. The 18-story building includes also 30 exclusive shops and 2 restaurants. The singular trapezoidal plan, the steel and glass façade, which is perfectly integrated with its surroundings, and the way in which light changes the colours of the building as the day unfolds, make Stilwerk the new symbol of the city and a statement of avant-garde architecture.
Main feature of this project is undoubtedly the windowed restaurant Le Loft, located on the top floor with wonderful views on the Austrian capital. To decorate this space, Jean Nouvel has chosen SANCAL’s products: 114 Artica chairs, with a cubic design made of clean lines, and 66 Vela-Dora tables in a cool grey tone.

Spanish SEMACA CONTRACT, associated to ANIEME, furnishes H-10 hotels in Berlin and London Contract furniture manufacturer SEMACA CONTRACT has completed work on the refurbishment of four-star hotel H-10 BERLIN KU’DAMM, that will be opened in March 2011. Specific furniture and woodwork, as well as lighting and textiles, has been manufactured and installed to decorate guest rooms and common areas. The hotel counts on a total of 163 Deluxe rooms, 18 lofts, 4 duplex lofts, 7 junior suites and 7 suites. Being H-10 hotel chain a major client of the Spanish company, SEMACA has also supplied furniture for H-10 LONDON WATERLOO, in the British capital.

VONDOM, a new protagonist at Festival du Cinema in Cannes As usual, at Festival du Film in Cannes we saw a red carpet full of stars and starlets, new films and a lot of glamour. EXPORMIM JOINS THE CHILEAN ARCHITECT MATHIAS KLOTZ IN THE “CRUSOE ISLAND LODGE” PROJECT EXPORMIM is a member-company of ANIEME (Spanish Association of Furniture Manufacturers and Exporters) with nearly 50 years of experience in the design and manufacture of indoor and outdoor furniture, both for private and hospitality use. One of its latest and most singular projects has been developed in collaboration with the Chilean architect Mathias Klotz. Crusoe Island is located in the archipelago Juan Fernandez, which is in the Pacific Ocean facing the western coast of Chile. The island has been considered world biosphere reserve by the UNESCO and it is also the popular island featured in the novel “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe, based on the shipwreck of the Scottish sailor Alexander Selkirk. One year after the tsunami struck Chile and the island, the renowned architect Mathias Klotz and his team bet on the recovery of the tourism in the area. 300 million dollars were invested to rebuild the Crusoe Hotel, which had been completely destroyed by the tsunami. The hotel was also extended and it is now capable of receiving large yachts and luxury cruise ships coming from all over the world to admire the beautiful island. EXPORMIM has also recently furnished the Puerto Bahía Hotel in the Dominican Republic and Adina Hotel in Berlin.

CARLOS TÍSCAR Carlos Tíscar (1964), se graduó en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas de Valencia (1982), en la especialidad de Diseño Industrial. Dos años después, se trasladó a Italia para estudiar en la Scuola Politécnica di Milano con una beca del IMPIVA. Comenzó a dedicarse profesionalmente al diseño como miembro del grupo Factoría Diseño Industrial (1987), y posteriormente, como socio de la consultora Gesto Design Management (1991). Desde 1993 dirige su propio estudio y actualmente realiza proyectos de mobiliario de hogar, instalaciones y oficina así como mobiliario urbano y objetos domésticos.
Carlos Tíscar (1964), graduated from the school of applied arts in Valencia (1982), in the field of industrial design. Two years later, he moved to Italy to study at the Scuola Politecnica di Milano in Mailand. Began to make a career as a member of the industrial design group Factoría (1987), and then as a partner of the consulting firm Gesto Design Management (1991). Since 1993 he manages his own studio. Currently realizes projects of home, contract and Office furniture, as well as urban furniture and household objects.
AVA Al igual que la famosa actriz la silla, Ava tiene una marcada personalidad hecha de contrastes. El volumen general, de sólida construcción, está formado por piezas de poco espesor y sus patas de sección plana se enriquecen visualmente gracias al biselado. La composición del conjunto a base de líneas rectas ligeramente inclinadas le otorga un aspecto sereno, con un carácter de mueble transversal capaz de integrarse en ambientes privados o de instalación.
As well as the famous actress Ava, the AVA chair has a strong personality made of contrasts. The volume, of solid construction, is build with thin pieces making flat sections thanks to the bevelled. The collection has been designed with slightly inclined straight lines giving a serene appearance perfect for a private ambient or installation.

GABRIEL TEIXIDÓ Nacido en Barcelona en 1947, estudió en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos de Barcelona (1964-1969).Después de muchos años trabajando en el ámbito artístico, a principios de los 70 Gabriel Teixidó cambió su orientación hacia el diseño industrial. Convirtió sus ideas en éxitos comerciales, que él atribuye a su sólida base artística. Su método para diseñar más allá del exhibicionismo formal le ha hecho merecedor de varios premios SIDI y Delta. Una de las áreas principales de su trabajo es el mobiliario de oficina. Piezas tecnológicamente sofisticadas que diseña para un gran número de firmas.
Born in Barcelona in 1947, he studied at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artísticos de Barcelona [School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Barcelona] (1964-1969). After many years working in the arts industry, at the start of the 1970s Gabriel Teixidó moved into the sphere of industrial design. He turns his ideas into commercial successes, which he usually attributes to his strong artistic background. His method of coming up with a design beyond formal exhibitionism has made him the worthy winner of several SIDI and Delta awards. One of his key fields of operation is fitting out offices. Furniture unencumbered with great technological complications that he designs for a large number of firms.

Interior and Industrial designer was born in Sant Sadurni d’Anoia (Barcelona, Spain) in 1969. His professional career began as an undergraduate through independent commissions for various Design and Architecture studios while at the same time taking on his own projects. In 1994, after several years of training in his field, he established his own studio in Barcelona. From here he directs his team with a fusion of different disciplines. His projects range from Interior to Industrial Design, both containing commercial and private projects. His design principle is based on the search for spatial order and geometric proportion. Throughout his career Rifé has been given a number prizes in the field of Design, like ContractWorld Awards, ICFF Editors Awards, Ascer Prizes or FAD Awards. Also he has been nominated for the National Design Awards and the Delta awards for Industrial Design. His projects have been featured in both national and international specialized books (Daab, Braun, Taschen) and others publications such as On Diseño, Proyecto Contract, AD, Metropolis, Intramuros, El País, La Vanguardia or international magazines as a Frame, Wallpaper, Bob Magazine or AIT. At the same time, his most important works has been published in several books publicated by Loft editions, the last one edited in 2010. Currently, he combines teaching with an active role in national and International congresses and workshops in places such as Singapore, Hannover, Cologne, Tokyo, Miami, Oporto, Moscow and Bogotá.

IBÁN RAMÓN STUDIO
Ibán Ramón Rodríguez has been a professional designer since 1994. After working solo for a number of years, he created his own studio in 2001. He is a member of the ADCV (Designer’s Association of the Community of Valencia), the BEDA (Bureau of European Designers Association), and the organising committee of Valencia Disseny Week. Throughout his career, he has received numerous national and international awards and has participated in design exhibitions in several countries. Some of his designs have formed part of renowned collections such as the Wilanów Poster Museum collection in Warsaw. He has acted on the panel of judges for competitions, taught classes and workshops and has given seminars and conferences.
Estudio Ibán Ramón is a small team of designers based in Valencia, currently comprising Daniel Requeni and Diego Mir, together with Ibán Ramón himself. Ibán works as a designer and also acts as art director and project manager. The studio mainly focuses on carrying out corporate image projects, editorial design and graphic communication for public and private institutions. It does however continue to work on personal projects that are not necessarily created on commission, and in which research and experimentation are key priorities, above all other aspects. This permanent process of reviewing their own activity and exploring other fields enriches and feeds back into commission work.
We try to make ideas and messages understandable based on our belief that formal aspects also have a major role to play in communication. We like to work with our clients in defining their targets to ensure that dialogue with their audience is effective and carried out in an aesthetic way.
