Artist Study and Workspace. - Anywhere, U.S.A.
In one of my first projects in my first year, we explored the different requirements for various artists to ideally express and create the work. The type of artist I had to design for would be a woodblock printer, so that he would need access to a large studio with plenty of space for his presses and to dry his work. Exploring the first time for me was combining the design with the landscape as I used basic geometric forms to influence the whole.

“F.L.W.
Library”

Oak Park Public Library - Oak Park, Illinois
Situated within a suburb of Chicago known for its architectural legacy from famed architect Frank Llyod Wright, this hypothetical expansion of the local branch would contain many historical documents related to this architect. This stereotomic brick hypostyle hall would emulate Étienne-Louis Boullée concept for a perfect library. Open, Light, and Stacks of Books rising as massive walls as an expression of man’s collective knowledge. This developmental project was instrumental in how I viewed structure and understanding the heuristics of what was possible.

04 Interpretive Center
Mount Mitchell Interpretive Center - Wamego, Kansas

Mount Mitchell Heritage Prairie Park is a 47-acre ungrazed tallgrass prairie around its notable hill and Underground Railroad History. First and foremost, the center is designed to focus its attention towards the view and surrounding prairie, turning its Mount Mitchellback to the unattractive road/parking lot. Following the slope and adhering to the horizontality of this round mound, My proposal would introduce a bold but respectful addition to this historic site. Using a system of ramps, this center is accessible and is easily enjoyed by all. Programmatically, this building encourages the usage by the public, as the building frames a public auditorium that is an extension of the event space, allowing for significant events and hosting capabilities.
