The Story Roald Dahl’s timeless story of the worldfamous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, which features songs from the classic family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The memorable score features “Pure Imagination,” “Oompa Loompa” and “I Want It Now” by Academy® and Grammy Award®-winners Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley, neatly fitted into a new script adapted under the auspices of the Dahl Estate. Ways To Expand Some of the most beloved characters of this story are the Oompa-Loompas and you can cast as many of them as you like. Musical Difficulty While the music isn’t difficult, there are a lot of short solos in this shows. There are also great ensemble numbers for the whole cast. Staging Demands There are no big choreographic numbers in this show so it’s perfect for beginning dancers. Considerations Willy Wonka KIDS has a number of great roles for both boys and girls and can easily be expanded to accommodate students in many grade levels, making this a true all-school show. Also, the Director’s Guide contains great suggestions on how to create Wonka’s chocolate factory easily and inexpensively.
