Dodie Smith THE STORY In a loving home in the city of London, Dalmatians Pongo and Perdita happily raise their puppies, until the monstrous Cruella De Vil plots to steal them for her new fur coat! Join all the dogs of London, as they daringly rescue the puppies from Cruella and her bumbling henchmen. With a delightfully fun score, lovable characters, and one of the most deliciously evil villains in the Disney canon, this stage adaptation is certain to charm and delight all audiences. And with a highly expandable chorus, the stage could easily be filled with 101 performers! THE SONGS

Dalmatian Conga, Thunderbolt, Kanine Krunchies, Cruella De Vil, Twilight Bark, My Beautiful Coat, Dalmatian Plantation

CAST INFORMATION 8 principals, plus ensemble WAYS TO EXPAND Have 101 Dalmatians on the stage – literally!  You can make the Ensemble of Puppies as large as you’d like. You can add more Canine Narrators by dividing up the scenes and lines as required by the size of your cast. Expand the dogs of London to include more Chihuahuas, Scotties, Poodles, and any other dog you can think of! MUSICAL DIFFICULTY Solos for Cruella, Roger, Anita, Horace, Jasper, and Sergeant Tibbs, plus many featured sections for small groups. Most numbers involve the full ensemble, with very simple unison singing.

CONSIDERATIONS 101 Dalmatians KIDS is the perfect show for large numbers of young children, with an infinitely expandable ensemble of dogs and puppies. There are many featured parts for good singers, like Roger and Anita, as well as parts for good singers with strong comedic skills, like Cruella and her henchmen. INVOLVE THE COMMUNITY Talk to your local pet shelter to see if they can bring someone in to talk to your cast about how someone can go about adopting an animal. Ask them to bring an animal into the school for a show and tell demonstration. Then have your students organize an “Adopt-an-Animal Drive” in the community.

STAGING DEMANDS Production can be staged very simply, with minimal dance or technical requirements.
