Courtney Sowinski Marries Chase Dragoon
MAGISTERIAL DISTRICT JUDGE CANDIDATE ACRI EVENT- A free, family-friendly event was held February 15 at the American Legion, Post 781 in Mountain Top to meet Stacey Acri, candidate for Magisterial District Judge. Giarratano Graduates From Wilkes
Tara Gabrielle Giarratano, daughter of David and Barbara Giarratano of Mountaintop, and granddaughter of Anthony and Vera Michael of Wilkes-Barre, John Giarratano of Dorrance, and the late Lucia Giarratano, graduated summa cum laude from Wilkes University on January 22, 2017. Tara earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. A 2013 graduate of Crestwood High School, Tara majored in English (literature concentration) and minored in Political Science and Women’s and Gender Studies while at Wilkes.

Courtney Sowinski and Chase Dragoon exchanged wedding vows on August 20, 2016, at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. Jack Gordon, Captain of The Silver Lining Sailboat, officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Tom and Marisa (Pingar) Sowinski of Mountaintop. She is the granddaughter of the late Walter and Mary (Vasko) Sowinski of Queens, NY and the late Francis Pingar of Freeland and Marie (DeLeonardis) Pingar, who currently resides in West Chester, PA. The groom is the son of Valerie (Baldwin) Dragoon of Concord, NH and Michael Dragoon of Cincinnati, OH. He is the grandson of Robert and Maryanne Dragoon of Hanover, ME and the late Harvey and Geraldine Baldwin of Concord, NH. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Tom Sowinski. She chose her sister, Rachel Sowinski, as her maid of honor. Her bridesmaid was Katie McCloskey, and brides men were Kevin Hourigan and Justin Scalzo, friends of the bride. The groom chose his brother, Max Dragoon, as his best man. Groomsmen were Brian Tobin and Chris Lizotte and grooms woman was Kristin Martin, all friends of the groom.

Goss Earns Scholarship Births To Alvernia University
Hard work in high school has paid off for college-bound seniors. Amanda Goss, of Mountain Top, has been granted the Veronica Founder’s Scholarship to study Marketing at Alvernia University in the fall. Goss is currently a senior at Crestwood High School. To be awarded this $15,000 scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and minimum SAT score* of 980 old/1060 new (21 ACT). * “Old” SAT scores are calculated using combined Critical Tara Giarratano Beginning in August of 2017, Tara Reading and Math sections. “New” will attend Penn State Dickinson SAT Scores are based on the Math and School of Law on a full academic Evidence-Based Reading & Writing sections. Students are eligible for scholarship.

The bride was honored at a bridal shower hosted by her parents and sister at the family home on June 25, 2016. A wedding rehearsal brunch was hosted by the mother of the groom at M.C. Perkins Cove. The reception was held at The Cape Neddick Country Club. The bride and groom met during their college years in Ogunquit, Maine while both working summer jobs. The bride graduated from Bishop Hoban High School in 2007 and Wagner College on Staten Island, NY in 2011 with a B.A. in Musical Theatre. She is employed by Dell Technologies in Hopkinton, MA as a Marketing Program Manager. The groom graduated in 2006 from Norwich High School in Norwich, NY and received his B.S. from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY where he double majored in Political Science and International Business He is employed as a Healthcare Manager for Huron Global Management Consulting Company and currently works in Boston, MA. The couple honeymooned in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Bali, Indonesia. Presently, they reside in Boston, MA.
