Mount Magazine Fall 2014

From the Editor Greetings from the Mount! We hope this issue finds you well and enjoying the Holidays! In this edition of The Mount Magazine you will find our underlying theme is thankfulness! The holiday season is upon us and, if we are not careful, the madness of shopping and parties will leave us with little time to reflect on the true meaning of the Christmas season and our many blessings in 2014. The Mount has a great deal for which to be thankful. In the pages of our Annual Report, we give thanks to all of you who have supported our school through your generous financial gifts. It is that generosity that helps sustain our mission of providing an unparalleled, holistic educational experience for our students. Thank you for believing in our vision and supporting our daily activities to make it a reality! As many of you know, a group of our Mounties met Malala Yousafzai, the youngest recipient of the Noble Peace Prize, in mid-October at the Liberty Medal ceremony after they created a social media campaign and video inviting her to visit the school. Three of the 16 Mounties who were involved in this effort wrote a captivating article about their experience. These 16 girls were humbled by Malala’s story and thankful for the blessing of their Mount education. This issue also provides a recap of the many fabulous events we hosted this fall including: Golden Girls Luncheon, Founders’ Day, Miles of Magic 5K, Fashion Show, Purple and Gold Reception and our Annual Golf Classic.

We hope you enjoy this edition of The Mount Magazine and encourage you to share your thoughts and ideas with us. Please send your letters and feedback to mount@msjacad.org We wish you and your family peace and happiness this joyous Holiday Season! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! -Maryellen Anastasio Managing Editor & Director of Communications Correction: We incorrectly credited the article, “Center Stage: An Interview with Kate McCauley Hathaway ’71” in the Summer 2014 Mount Magazine.
