BA BE NATIONAL PARK 2 DAYS 1 NIGHTS Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (Lunch , Dinner) An early start to the day to make the most of what we have in store for you. We will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi at 07.30 hrs, then hit the road north towards Ba Be National Park. Lunch will be had in a restaurant in a village on the way, and then our route will take us up through the mountains and tea plantations to Ba Be lake, amazing green lake in the middle of natural green forest. We then travel to the Tay village of Coc Toc, with its beautiful stilt houses and friendly population of Tay people, who make their living by fishing in the stunning Ba Be lakes and farming. You will stay in the homestay of a local family here that has been resident in Ba Be for many years, enjoying their wonderful hospitality, and have some time in the evening to explore the beautiful surroundings. You may also wish to take the option of walking or cycling around Coc Toc village, KAYAKING on the lake in boats that we reserve for our tour guests, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings and enjoying the views. Day 2 Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast at the homestay, we will go on foot to Bo Lu boat station to embark on a 3 hour boat trip, gently touring around the lake. If you need to cool off, this is a great opportunity to jump into the river for a swim - so refreshing! The boat takes you by the slow flowing river, giving you ample opportunity to gaze in awe at the dramatic mountains and valleys and natural caves. You will also get the chance to enjoy some bird and butterfly spotting - the national park is home to a vast variety of flora and fauna. The boat will progress through the Puong cave, which forms a natural tunnel through which the river flows, and has thousands of stalactites and stalagmites as well as a bat colony, several thousand strong. You can rest your legs on the drive back to Hanoi, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant on the way. We should arrive in Hanoi at about 17.30 hrs and you will be let off at 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

BA BE NATIONAL PARK 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (Lunch, Dinner) You will be collected from our office 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi at 07.30 hrs. On the way we will stop in Thai Nguyen to visit the marvellous Museum of the Culture of the Ethnic Minorities of Vietnam, followed by lunch in a street restaurant. We then leave the main road to take a smaller one snaking through the mountains and tea plantations, and arrive in the Tay village of Coc Toc, where you will be welcomed by Mr. Linh and his amazingly friendly Tay family in their traditional house. If it's hot, do like the local kids, just jump in the lake! You will enjoy a superb dinner with Linh and his lovely family on the lake terrace. Overnight in Mr Linh homestay. Day 2 Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) A treat! Breakfast on the terrace, then short drive to the house owner's boat, which will take you through the entire length of the 3 connected lakes (Ba Be - "3 bays") and up the Nang River, to an astonishing site: Dong Puong, an enormous tunnel (300m long by 30m high) that the river has cut through a lime mountain. We will continue to Cam Ha village where you can observe the peaceful life of the Tay people amongst the green rice fields. The boat then goes up river to the small village of Hua Tang. If you have imagined simple and authentic ethnic minority villages, this is what you have been dreaming of! Lunch is in a local house alongside the river. After lunch, a short walk (20 m) through the jungle takes you to the very scenic Dau Dang Waterfalls, a series of spectacular cascades between sheer rock walls. You may continue the trail to arrive in a large river bend full of colourful local life, with a small "harbour" . Here the locals unload goods to bypass the falls by motorbike and then reload them on boats to go through the lake. Return by boat for another delightful evening at your Tay house. Day 3 Ba Be Lake - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch) After breakfast we will stroll along the riverfront, visit some lovely Pac Ngoi village where most Tay people keep traditional houses and hike the upper reaches of the lake, in an area marked by massive limestone cliffs and mountains. Later our car driver will take you to Amazing Hua Ma cave and “Pass� then stop so you can take amazing photos of the terraced fields. After lunch in a local restaurant We continue our journey back to Hanoi, arriving there at around 5.00pm.

BA BE NATIONAL PARK EXPLORER 4 DAYS 3 NIGHTS Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (Lunch, Dinner) Pick you up from our office 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi at 7.30 AM for transferring to Ba Be National Park. Ba Be Lake is situated in Bac Kan province which is 240 km northeast of Hanoi Capital. On the way to Ba Be we will pay a visit to the Thai Nguyen Minority and Culture Museum where we can learn something about the culture and traditions of the different minority groups in Vietnam. Lunch will be in a local restaurant and onwards to Ba Be Lake. We arrive early in the afternoon, take a rest, have dinner and stay overnight in a local Tay minority family in their traditional wooden stilt house. Day 2 Trekking To Dzao Ethnic Villages (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) A great day for trekking!! Your tour guide will first take you to visit the Coc Toc village where the local Tay people live by fishing. After crossing the Pelu stream, you will then have some rough terrain to navigate, but as you gain height your efforts will be rewarded by spectacular views. Going on further to the uplands you will stop in a H'mong ethnic village for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon the guide will take you through mountains and valleys and to see the stilt houses and school of the Dao people, continuing on the trail to visit a H'mong ethnic village. Then, you will have a dinner in local homestay and spend the night at a Dzao ethnic village. Prepare yourself as they are generous with their corn wine! Day 3 Boat Trip On Ba Be Lake (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) You will have breakfast at the homestay before saying "goodbye" to your friendly hosts to set off on the beautiful trails through three H'mong ethnic villages. You then down through the forest to visit Dau Dang waterfall which lies on the border of the two provinces of Bac Kan and Tuyen Quang. After that you will have a lunch with 'Mr Pirate' who gained celebrity status in Ba Be when he starred as the main actor in “Ba Be Lake Pirate Movie”! Then you will take a boat trip up the river to visit the Puong cave, home of thousands of bats (of 18 different species) and famous for its many stalactites and stalagmites The river actually runs through the cave into Ba Be lake. After visiting the An Ma temple, you will return to the lake shore, then have dinner and an overnight stay at Mr Linh's homestay. Day 4 Ba Be - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch) Before beginning today’s journey, you will enjoy a relaxing breakfast at the homestay. Setting out for Hanoi, we will in for a visit to Hua Ma cave, only recently accessible, as few locals would enter due to ancient beliefs and superstition. The cave has thousands of stalactites and stalagmites and is very atmospheric. You can rest your legs on the drive back to Hanoi, stopping for lunch at a local restaurant on the way. BA BE LAKE - BAN GIOC WATERFALL GROUP TOUR 3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (Lunch, Dinner) Your group will be picked up at 7:30 am from our office at 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi for the journey to Ba Be Lake, a drive of approximately 150 miles (230 kilometers). You will head north from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and into the stunning landscape of rural Vietnam. During the journey you will have the chance to visit a Tay minority community. This is the second largest ethnic group in Vietnam after the Viet-kinhs. On arrival at Ba Be National Park you will cruise along the Nang River by boat exploring the beautiful Ba Be Lake, the dramatic caves of Puong Grotto and Widow Island, a limestone islet steeped in local folklore and legend. You will also have time to visit the stilt houses of the Tay community in Coc Toc Village, where you will spend the night at Mr Linh's homestay ( Tay family ). Day 2 Ba Be - Cao Bang - Ban Gioc (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) After breakfast at the homestay, you will depart for Cao Bằng one of Vietnam’s most northern provinces that borders China. Here you will have the chance to meet the Nung people in the village of Phuoc Sen, a mountainous village famous for traditional blacksmith craft. Afterward, discover Nguom Ngao cave-tiger cave. Like the Tays, the Nungs largely live by farming the terraced rice paddies that you will see all around as you continue to Ban Gioc Waterfall, the stunning falls that span across the border between Vietnam and China. You will spend some time at your own leisure, relaxing and taking photos as you soak up the incredible surroundings of Vietnam’s most beautiful waterfall. You will stay overnight in the Quang Uyen homestay. Day 3 Cao Bang - Hanoi (B, L)(Breakfast, Lunch) After a night at the Nung's house, you will depart for your transfer south to Hanoi. It is a journey of approximately 185 miles (310 kilometres) through vertiginous rice terraces and remote villages. You will get the chance to stop at an ethnic village known for its tobacco production. This is the road less traveled in Vietnam, offering the chance to enjoy some peace and tranquility. HIGHLIGHTS AND HIDDEN TRAILS OF NORTH VIETNAM 6 DAYS 5 NIGHTS Day 1 Hanoi - Ba Be Lake (L, D) In the morning you will set off for Ba Be National Park from our office at 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi. Ba Be Lake is a Natural World Heritage Site, a stunning fresh water lake surrounded by swooping limestone mountains covered in evergreen forest. During your journey you will stop for refreshment in Thai Nguyen where you will have chance to visit the museum of the cultures of Vietnam's ethnic group to understand more about the ethnic minority groups in northern Vietnam. After this you will continue to Bac Kan town for lunch and onwards to Ba Be National Park. Here you will have time to relax or take in the scenery by walking around the lake shore to see the Tay villages. You will stay overnight in a Tay house. Day 2 Ba Be Lake - Cao Bang (B, L) The best way to see Ba Be is by boat on Ba Be Lake, boat man takes you through the entire length of the 3 connected lakes (Ba Be - "3 bays") The boat then goes up river to the small village of Hua Tang. A short walk (20 m) through the jungle takes you to the very scenic Thac Dau Dang Waterfalls, a series of spectacular cascades between sheer rock walls and up the Nang River, to an astonishing site: Dong Puong, an enormous tunnel (300m long by 30m high) that the river has dug through a lime mountain. After lunch at Cho Ra town, we continue to drive towards Cao Bang. Here the ethnic people of H’Mong, Dzao, Tho and Nung live together in harmony. We will arrive in Cao Bang town at about 17h00. Day 3 Cao Bang - Ban Gioc - Bao Lac (B, L) Breakfast at hotel, car ride to Ban Gioc, visit the waterfall in this day you will take a scenic in insightful day trip north of Cao Bang to the beautiful Ban Gioc waterfall on the Chinese border. This picturesque, cascading waterfall is 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters. The drive there offers unique landscapes, limestone karst formations soar from the verdant rice paddies of the surrounding farms of local ethnic minorities. Along the way, you will see Tay, Hmong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. Lunch in restaurant nearby Ban Gioc water fall, heading back to Cao Bang, on the way, we come to visit the expansive 2,144 meter Nguom Ngao Cave to discover its brilliant stalactites. Return to Cao Bang then transfer to Bao Lac town and overnight in Song Gam river hotel. Day 4 Bao Lac - Meo Vac - Dong Van (B, L) After breakfast you will leave Bao Lac village and head to the stunningly beautiful Dong Van district, surrounded by a wide range of rock formations and home to a number of ethnic minority groups. Here you will have chance to see and even visit the traditional houses. The scenic route climbs over a pass, and then descends down to Meo Vac valley, a beautiful valley situated very close to the Chinese border. After having lunch in local restaurant then you will then have the opportunity to trek along the Ma Pi Leng Pass and take in the views of the beautiful mountain ranges and the Nho Que river. As the roads zigzag along to Dong Van you will notice the remoteness of local life and see some of the environmental obstacles against survival and development. We will stay overnight in Dong Van town where you will have the chance to wander the ancient streets lined with old houses of the H’mong people made of clay bricks and tiled roofs. Day 5 Dong Van - Yen Minh - Quan Ba - Ha Giang (B, L, D) Before we leave Dong Van today we visit Dong Van old quarter, Dong Van day market only in Sunday morning. We climb a pass up to the French Fortress of Pu Lo, built in 1890 and evacuated in 1945, from which we enjoy a spectacular view of the entire region. then a leisurely drive from Dong Van to Yen Minh & Quan Ba, this day will make your itinerary a good pace, not in a rush. We will visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H'mong family of high rank during French colonial rule - this palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to its mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. We then hit the road back to Quan Ba and downhill to Ha Giang for the night. Overnight in Thai ethnic village. Day 6 Ha Giang - Hanoi (B, L) Today the trip finish, we will check out our of accommodation and goodbye your host. It is situated inside the Ba Be National Park on the shores of the lake. 1/ CAR TRANSFERS The private cars or vans are available for rent from Hanoi. Please contact us for detailed information. 2/ SHUTTLE BUS HANOI ↔ BA BE LAKE This type of transfer is available for departing from 83 Ma May street, Hoan Kiem. Hanoi by Mr Linh's Adventures Travel. The shuttle bus can be understood as “tourist bus”, leaving Hanoi around 07:30 and return at 13:00 from Ba Be Tourism Centre in the days of group tours. NB There will be many cars or local buses at the Bus Station saying 'Ba Be'' and they will try to persuade you to use their transport. However, they will not take you to all the way to Ba Be National Park but only to Cho Ra town which is 20 km short of the park and then you'll have to hire a motorbike to the Park or pay a substantial extra bus fare. So say “Khong, cam on” = " No, thank you" The bus to catch that WILL take you all the way to Ba Be National Park is a white one with number plate TRUONG GIANG 97B-000.75, leaving about 12.00 Am 12:00 pm catch the above bus from Thai Nguyen bus station. This should take you all the way and you off on BA BE lake shore (Ba Be Tourism Centre). FROM SAPA (Sapa - Lao Cai station (17h00) - Thai Nguyen night sleeping bus (6h00)- Bang Lung (10h00) ) -Ask your hotel, or look for a “Xe Om”, (a motor bike taxi) who will take you to Lao Cai bus station. Motor bike taxis manage to carry reasonable luggage and should provide you with a helmet. -At Lao Cai bus station buy a ticket for night bus to Thai Nguyen. 4.30 to 5.30 pm Catch night bus. Buses usually stop for toilets/ food every 3 or 4 hours. They are sometimes chilly with A/C. Arrive at Thai Nguyen bus station at 6.30 am the next day. (You can get breakfast at a local restaurant) There will be many cars or local buses at the bus station saying 'Ba Be'' and they will try to persuade you to use their transport. However, they will not take you to all the way to Ba Be National Park but only to Cho Ra town which is 20 km short of the park and then you'll have to hire a motorbike to the Park or pay a substantial extra bus fare. So say “Khong, cam on” = " No, thank you" The bus to catch that WILL take you all the way to Ba Be National Park is a white one with the number plate THUONG NGA 20k 8496. Departure at about 8.20 am. -8.20 am catch the above bus from Thai Nguyen bus station. This should take you to Cho Don town then transfer you to another bus before you off on Nam Cuong market which far Ba Be Tourism Centre about 2 km. FROM CAO BANG Cao Bang (7h00) - Phu Thong town (11h30) - Bo Lu village (14h00) -Ask your hotel, or look for a “Xe Om”, (a motor bike taxi) who will take you to Cao Bang bus station. Motor bike taxis manage to carry reasonable luggage and should provide you with a helmet. -At Cao Bang bus station look for a bus bus to Thai Nguyen or Hanoi. However, Please ask Bus driver droop you off Phu Thong to catch another bus to Ba Be (Cho Ra). -At Phu Thong have some buses to Cho Ra every one hours. -At Cho Ra LOOK FOR a “Xe Om”, (a motor bike taxi) who will take you to Bo Lu village (Ba Be lake-shore) FROM HA GIANG Ha Giang (6h00) - Bo Dau town (13h00) - Cho Ra town - Bo Lu village (motor taxi)
