MANCHESTER INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM FESTIVAL 12th Edition

SERIOUS ABOUT SHORT FILM A warm welcome from festival director John Wojowski directors, producers - their friends and family - and everyone from across the world who continues to support Kinofilm, not just for the festival, but every month at the Three Minute Theatre. Thankyou to the volunteers who are helping make this happen. And of course everyone who’s spent time watching films. That means you: you reading this, sharing this event and of course, coming as you are: a lover of film, an explorer of the alternative and a true fan of quality cinematography.

What a delight, honour and privilege to bring a free films festival to the streets of Manchester. Kinofilm is proud to be presenting the very best in short film from our own filmmakers here in the region, to Europe, and from across the world - even after 19 years. Our Programme Manager Angela, along with John, Adge, Nada as well as myself have had both the enviable and unenviable task of watching every single entry; whittling down films to worldclass programmes ready for an open audience over six days in wildly different but incredibly vital and sparkling venues: the Three Minute Theatre, Central Library, the Anthony Burgess Foundation, Islington Mill.... Truth be told, there was so much more that we wanted to do with this festival. After losing out on major funding, it's be a real challenge to get things off the ground again. And yet, it's a challenge that we've met, conquered and become shaped by in order to bring back the Kinofilm Festival a large, world-class event - just as it always was. This year, the festival is the goodness of volunteers; filmmakers and their crews, actors, writers,

I A B F

Enjoy the free festival. We’ll be back for the anniversary next year!
