Swift & Co. (named by its developer) is a nine-story mixed-use residential building on Erie St. in Hamilton park historic district of Jersey city. With a specified 2013 Hamilton square redevelopment plan, restricting the project heights and setback. The project is designed to align within the allotted zoning envelope. The architecture manifests a double layer facade system, providing open loggia spaces. The outer pixelated layer helps break down the scale of the project to its surrounding buildings. Bricks are chosen as the main material to accomodate the aesthetic of the red-brick neighorhood, yet standing out with its contrast color.

MRMAZUMA RENOVATION
Role
The project is commissioned by Mazuma, a water filter company, who wished to rebrand its company's identity as well as to renovate its headquater. The project seeks to keep its existing structure of the current building by providing a new outer facade skin. The facade is designed to materialized the idea of fluidity of water. Moreover, for the ease of construction, the facade layer is actually flat with wavy patterns that appear to make it look 3-dimension. The commision also included renovation of interior spaces which carries out the wavy framework into the showroom area.

Kaitak, a former HK airport, is envisioned by its government with an urban redevelopment plan for HK's $100 billion project, including sports complex, metro park, housing, commercial and entertainment center. Kaitak clubhouse lies within one of the proposed housing complex projects. The site is very restricted with its elongated curvy shape and limited height. The project accentuates the curvy notion of its site through other architectural aspects, as well as playing with the idea of solid, void, transparency, and privacy within the constraints of the regulated master plan and the needs of clients expected target group.

ASTORIA WATERFRONT
26th Ave, Astoria, Queens, NYC
Work @ Studio V Architecture
Role : Lead Architectural Designer
Astoria waterfront today is lined with empty warehouses, isolated housings, and fences that cut off neighborhoods. The ULURP rezoning project of 26th Ave is part of the substantial master plan of contiguous projects that create a continuous network of public spaces. The project seeks to link a new mixeduse waterfront park with the community. The developments will activate the neighborhood and deal with environmental aspects of post-hurricane Sandy. The project offers edge resiliency, featuring soft infrastructure that includes rain gardens, tidal pools, riparian plantings, storm water retention, as well as reinforced edges and raised buildings.

Given apartment as a program and a site in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The project framework focuses on the different levels and scales of privacy and publicity (public, semi-public, semi-private, private) within the apartment complex. Deliberately chosen wood as a main material to not only contrast the industrial materiality of the neighborhood, but also to emphasize the welcoming sensibiligy to the project.

Given concerthall as a program and the site nearby Scharoun's Berlin Philharmonic and Mies's national gallery. The project concept is not to compete with the existing master pieces but rather integrate and cultivate the richness of the site urban fabric by serving as a public amphitheater/urban lobby, as well as a contemporary concert hall which is nested underground. The project offers spaces for experimental music, art, performances, and etc.

BNY MEDIATEQUE
Given mediatheque as a program and a unique site in Brooklyn Navy Yard. The project framework focuses on two urbanistic ideas which are fragmentation (looking into BNY in relation to the complexity of NYC urban development) and filtration (looking in to the greater ecological and hydrological system of the city). The project serves as an incubator for an inevitable relationship of technology and ecology in correspondant to the collective urbanism through architecture. In addition it aims to engage the exisiting dry dock of this unique site as part of the experience for visitors going through the mediatheque.

Graduate School Project
Given elementary school as a program and a very unique site on pier 6, the project aims to configurate programs and viewpoints in relation to the exisiting structure and framework of the elongated pier. Moreover, the project celebrates its water context by sustaining shallow water on the rooftop as part of the school's playground. The water roof allows horizontal plane of the architecture to merge with its environment. This plane also serves as a public space for the community during weekends and offschool period. The project is also designed to have gym and parkinglots on lower level to allow flooding (Hurrican Sandy).

Given dormitory as a program and a site that is adjacent to an elevated highway and located nearby Thailand's biggest airport. The area is situated on airplane routes in a small community, which encouraged half of the project to be embed underground, in order to keep the horizontal elevation of the neighborhood as well as reduce noise pollution from aircrafts and cars. The open courtyard and side lightwells allow light and air to enter all the underground units. Green roof and communal garden serve as resident common space as well as another sound barriers.

MINING HYDROPERATION
Tako pidtong, Ratchaburi, Thailand
Undergraduate School Project
Instructor : Xiaoxuan
and Chon Supawongse
Lu
Ratchaburi generates many millions THB from exported agricultural products to Thailand, however, only 4% is provided with irrigation, the rest has to depend on rainfall and natural streams. Moreover, many of natural water resources are exhausted by deforestation, in which mining is a major cause. Ratchaburi consists of many active & post-mining sites which result in the hydrological deterioration and contamination. The site is located in the area of class one watershed, which is a fresh water resource for downstream agricultural area. The project aims to develop a prototype of a mining system that would reclaim damaged landscapes and enhance hydrological benefits. Tako pidtong as a post-mining site is a platform of the system initiation. To mitigate the contaminated land, phytoremediation is used as a method of ecological reclamation. Plants produced will later be exploited for food production and energy generation. Wastewater produced from mining and energy production will be treated clean before sending to irrigation for lowland area. The project introduces a sustainable mining operation as a new productive system.
