where education comes with adventure The perfect place to bring learning alive for every boy.

A Falcons Prep education is for life. All children are born with natural enthusiasm and curiosity. Our role is to harness that energy and provide a safe space where boys have the freedom to explore new ideas. Nurturing a love of learning, we ensure that every boy acquires and secures the skills to become effective lifelong learners, fit not only for the world we live in today, but for a future yet to be determined. Working together, we raise our boys into young men who are prepared and keen to take their places in society. We realise too, the significant role we play in preparing your son for not only their time with us but for their future beyond this. We have strong relationships with a number of senior schools and successfully place our boys in the top day and boarding schools both in and out of London at 11+ and 13+. Our years of experience mean that we can support you and your family throughout the process to ensure that your son has access to a school that will allow him to continue his educational journey and thrive.

Learning is a journey, and at Falcons Prep Richmond we believe that where you are going starts with who you are. We look to understand the unique qualities and characteristics of every boy in our care and enable each one of them to fulfil their potential, through expert academic and pastoral care.

The perfect place…

Learning is an adventure. Falcons Prep boys fully immerse themselves in the positive, lively environment of our school, built for them and around them. Here, they have everything they need to thrive at an academic, physical and emotional level. Our curriculum is anchored in a traditional prep school context, but we bring it alive in new and exciting ways, so that pupils are equipped with the mindset to explore and question the world around them. By infusing learning with a spirit of adventure, our boys develop a thirst for knowledge, the determination to succeed, and a set of values that will accompany them for life. The flexibility of our learning spaces encourages the boys to debate, collaborate and create within the taught curriculum, taking them away from the surface of learning and into the depths of a more longer-term appreciation of knowledge.

to bring learning

Where every boy belongs. Falcons is a school for the artist, the mathematician, the historian, author, musician, the list goes on. Whatever your son brings to us, we will not only support it but we will cherish it and allow it to grow. Here at Falcons, we focus on the whole child. We have a pastoral care system which allows us to collaborate, share and support as a community. Each boy forms the centre of our conversations, and so all our efforts, our work and our endeavours revolve around the progress of each student’s potential; academically, socially and emotionally. Boys feel safe at Falcons and as a result they are happy. We also never lose sight of the fact that our boys belong first and foremost to you, our parents, and so we do all we can to foster a relationship with you that not only allows, but promotes, the opportunity to come together and work alongside one another. Our promise is that throughout his journey with us, we will take the time to get to know your son and will help him to develop the confidence and skills to access a world yet to be discovered.

It is our privilege and joy to start children on their precious learning adventure.

Our happy and safe school environment is built on strong academic foundations to provide pupils with a robust framework for their educational needs. From Day One, children are encouraged to discover, explore and learn through real-life, hands-on experiences, deepening their own understanding in the process. Beyond the classroom, there are adventures in the great outdoors through Forest School at the Astro, the Richmond Scottish Rugby Grounds and Old Deer Park, all of which help build pupils’ independence, develop their risk-awareness and open their eyes to the world around them. Children, parents and teachers are included in a continual dialogue, with learning experiences documented and shared within the classroom and via digital channels.

We believe not just in teaching our boys but in equipping them with tools and techniques to support their ongoing development as learners.

Each lesson has clear learning objectives and pupils are afforded Dedicated Improvement and Reflection Time (DIRT), where they can identify opportunities to revisit any challenging content and concepts. These ‘safe’ parameters free boys from endless ‘chalk and talk’ and encourage them to explore topics in new and exciting ways whilst developing their independence. The classroom is the focus for much of this activity, while access to the Old Deer Park and Richmond Park gives our boys a rich outdoor environment to explore, and London plays host to various educational trips to help contextualise their learning.

At this point in their educational journey, boys begin to expand their repertoire of subjects as they prepare to take the step up to senior school.

As a matter of course, we prepare boys for general and scholarship entry to competitive London day and boarding schools at 13+, with pupils following an accelerated Common Entrance (CE) programme in Years 7 and 8. Boys are given clear guidance on what is expected of them by their subject teachers and they are continuously supported on how best to approach their continued learning and revision. Whilst the final exams are of significant importance, this point in their school journey also provides a timely opportunity to open their eyes to new subjects, expand their horizons through additional courses, and develop valuable skills in leadership, organisation and communication.
