TO OUR 2023 GREAT DAYS OUT BROCHURE!

Here at Moving PEOPLE we work hard to put together the best Great Days Out by Coach for you. As always, our drivers have enjoyed your company and we have taken on board your ideas and feedback, so we hope that we have fulfilled some of your wishes with our new programme of day excursions for 2023.

We appreciate that costs are rising, and this year we have endeavoured to keep our prices as low as possible to ensure that all our day excursions are affordable for everyone and to keep you moving throughout 2023! This year we also continue to offer all coach travel (excluding admissions) for children at just £5 each!*

We strive to ensure that we have a great selection of days out which are suitable for all the family, with many of our trips running during the school holidays to keep children entertained, as well as offering more weekend days out than ever before!

We have also made some slight changes to our local pickup points along the M65 corridor. Due to demand, our regular day excursions now pickup from Chorley and our Express service trips now include two additional pickups to include Burnley and Blackburn for your convenience. Please see details of all our local pickup points on page 23.

Throughout the year, we may add additional day trips, theatre trips or extra coaches on trips, so please be sure to follow us on social media so you can be kept up to date! We also send regular emails with details of new trips, so please ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details including your email address!

Seating Plan

When you book with us, we allocate you a seat number on the coach. To help you decide which is best for you, to the right is a standard layout for our coaches and we will strive to ensure that you can occupy the seat you have booked. However, we reserve the right to provide a coach with fewer than 57 seats, with a different layout or to use a smaller vehicle. In a rare instance we may cancel a trip owing to poor weather conditions, circumstances beyond our control or any other reason.

FAMILY DAYS OUT

We strive to ensure that all our day excursions are affordable for everyone and all coach travel (excluding admissions) for children is charged at (Child age is up to and including 16 years. Maximum 2 children per adult or senior. Admission fees not included).

OUR EXECUTIVE COACHES

Our coaches are executive class with air-conditioning and toilets. The drivers are specifically handpicked for their role and will provide a friendly, helpful service. We are sure you will be well looked after, both on board and at your If you have any destinations that you would like us to try, please complete one of the feedback forms, available on board. (At times we reserve the right to substitute a vehicle with limited or none of these facilities).

LOCAL PICKUP POINTS

Our local pickup points are conveniently located along the M65 corridor. Please see details of all our local pickup points on page 23 of this brochure. We will confirm exact times and pickup points when you make your booking or you can call us on 01254 872000.

New EXPRESS Service: Our new Express service is now 1 hour, 10 minutes running between Blackburn – Accrington Matalan – Burnley – Barnoldswick (or vice versa).

CIRCULAR ROUTE

Where possible we have tried to include a circular route for some of our GREAT DAYS OUT. Therefore, if you are on the 1st pickup, you will also be the 1st to be dropped off, meaning that you do not have as long to travel on the coach. The circular route is available wherever you see this symbol.

GROUPS AND CLUBS

If your group, club or school has been inspired by our GREAT DAYS OUT brochure and you would like to organise your own day trip, please contact our team. We offer private hire of all our vehicles for any occasion and groups of all sizes and can help to provide a tailored day out by coach to suit your individual interest and budget.

For smaller groups who may have difficulty in filling a full-size coach, we can reserve a block of seats on any of our published GREAT DAYS OUT. Any organiser with groups of 15 or more will be given a free seat which is valid for the travel only and does not include entry tickets. We can work with you to ensure a successful

and enjoyable day out for your group.

QUALITY DOOR-TO-DOOR HOLIDAYS

Moving PEOPLE also offer a programme of Door-to-Door coach holidays from the North West. Our programme of 2023 holidays feature many UK tours and our Door-to-Door service means that one of our friendly drivers will collect you from your home and transport you to a central welcome area prior to boarding our executive coach for your holiday.

This personal and friendly service means that your holiday starts from the moment you leave your front door. All our holidays are designed to include all admissions, so there are no hidden fees and you know that you will be looked after from start to finish.

KESWICK MARKET DAY

Thursday 13th April 2023 This beautiful and vibrant town is situated on Derwentwater, and it has excellent shopping facilities and an outdoor market. Whilst here you may choose to visit the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery or go to ‘The Puzzling Place’, a fun and eye-opening attraction based on optical illusion!

Northallerton is a busy market town. On market days both sides of the High Street are home to stalls selling a wide range of goods and produce from fruit and vegetables to clothes, hardware and computer and phone accessories. After our morning visit, we head to the World of James Herriot where there is so much to see and do, walk through his 1940s home & surgery, and more.

Only a short journey, but an immense destination for our market day out. Chorley Market hosts many stalls selling anything from cheese & clothes to wax melts. There is something for everyone old and young in this Lancashire market town. We then travel to the Hartwood Hall for a 2-course lunch.

Hawes is the market town of Upper Wensleydale. Market day in Hawes is as busy as ever and gives you a real experience of the Northern Dales. After our morning shoping, we visit the Creamery, home of the famous creamy, crumbly Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese. With a fantastic Visitor Centre; the UK’s flag ship Cheese Visitor Experience is where we enjoy the cheese experience, cheese tasting and learn how cheeses are made.

With a market charter dating from 1189, Kendal has altered greatly over the years, however it still retains an indoor and outdoor market. Enjoy a spot of lunch in Kendal before traveling to Ambleside, spending the afternoon walking, shopping, exploring or simply taking in the scenic views.

ORTON FARMERS MARKET & PENRITH

First stop is Orton where today has been known to be its Farmers Market with a variety of goods and Artisan crafts. Here you may also choose to visit the famous Kennedys Chocolate Shop, offering an amazing range of homemade luxury chocolates for you to choose from to buy. After the market we take a scenic drive to the historic town of Penrith. There is so much to see and do on the cobbled lanes of the town centre with its selection of boutique cafés and independent shops.

NORTH YORKSHIRE MOORS RAILWAY & PICKERING

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is a preserved historic railway stretching for 18 miles through the heart of the North York Moors National Park, from Pickering via Levisham, Newton Dale and Goathland to Grosmont. We have free time in Goathland before we take the train to Pickering. This beautiful historic market town is bustling with independent shops and eateries.

Before our return journey, we will make a stop in Pooley Bridge.

Join us as we make our way to Knowsley Safari Park, the UK’s longest safari drive! 550-acres of Safari Drive is home to many animals from around the world. From Bactrian Camels and White Rhino to Baboons and African Lions. This fantastic park also offers a Sea Lion Display and Bird of Prey Display, this really is a fantastic day for all the family! On the return we make a short stop at Crosby Beach with the stunning views across the sea to Wirral and North Wales hills.

We visit Bakewell and the largest market in the Derbyshire Dales where the stall market occupies two sites. The market dates from the 1920’s. We then journey to Buxton, a thermal spa town in the beautiful Peak District with stunning ornamental gardens and Georgian and Victorian architecture.

CHURCHTOWN BOTANIC GARDENS & SOUTHPORT

Our first stop is to the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown. Opened in 1874, the Victorian gardens are bursting with floral splendour and colour. The park boasts a lake, an aviary, and a magical fernery with ferns of all shapes and sizes. There is also a gift shop and a café specialising in homemade food and snacks. We later head to the centre of Southport which offers independent eateries and shops but is also famous for the pier and arcades.

We also pay a visit to the tea rooms where we enjoy a scone and hot drink.

How long will we stay at the destination?

Where we have a single destination, we aim to give you at least 4 hours, although we reserve the right to change the times owing to traffic difficulties and weather problems. We aim to be there for approx. 11.30/12.00 and to return around 16.00/16.30. The driver will announce the departure time when you arrive: please listen to the driver’s instructions. How can I book?

Can I pay the driver when I get on the coach?

Unfortunately, not. Excursions must be paid at the time of booking either by debit / credit card, cheque, or cash in the office

Would I be able to take my walker or scooter?

We can accommodate walkers and scooters but please let us know at the time of booking. Scooters must be able to fold enough to fit into our lockers. If you have a particularly large scooter, please contact us, to enable us to check the dimensions and weight.

How can I contact you if I need to cancel out of hours or if I need to contact the driver on a trip in an emergency?

Our normal office number is only staffed from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and there is an answerphone outside these hours.

Do the coaches have toilets on board?

All our excursion coaches are executive standard with a toilet and washroom on board. On our longer journeys, we also stop for a comfort / toilet break. On very rare occasions we may need to change the vehicle from an executive to an alternative, as some do not have toilet facilities, alternative arrangements for toilet breaks will be made.

I would like to buy my friend a trip for her birthday, but I do not know which trip she would prefer.

How about one of our gift vouchers? They can be used on any of our trips and holidays and can be for any value. Vouchers can be personalised with the name of the recipient and anything else you require. These can only be redeemed directly with us.

Where will I be picked up and how long are the pickups?

Our pick-up time on the M65 corridor is 2 hours and 20 minutes. When you have decided on an excursion, we give the first pick up point and time. On the back page of this brochure, you will find the timings and pickup points - please add the extra minutes onto the first pickup time and this will give you your pickup time.

Example: You want to go to Chester and would like to be picked up from Burnley Croft Street (Bus Station).

If we depart from Barnoldswick at 08:00 and pick up at Burnley Croft Street 45 minutes later. Therefore, your pickup time is 08:45.

Please note, New Express Journeys are 1 hour and 10 minutes between Blackburn, Accrington Matalan, Burnley and Barnoldswick or vice versa.

What if I miss the coach on the way back?

The driver will announce the departure time when you arrive at your destination. Unfortunately, we cannot wait as it is important that the coach leaves on time. It will be your responsibility to get home and cover any costs incurred. If you are unsure, check the departure time with the driver and, if you have a problem when out and about, ring our emergency number and we will do everything possible to assist

Cancellation Policy – Day Excursions

You may cancel up to 21 days before a day trip and receive a full refund minus 10% admin fee. Where we must purchase admission tickets in advance, you will only receive the travel portion of the refund. Any period after 21 days will be 100% of the cost.

What if I am late arriving at my pick-up point?

Unfortunately, as we have many pick-up points, we are unable to wait, as this will cause a delay for the other passengers travelling.
