8 After his recent success with Marley & Me, actor Owen Wilson has decided that dogs are, in fact, man’s best friend. Teaming up once again with Shanghai Noon director Tom Dey, Wilson provides the voice for the lovable yet ever so clumsy Great Dane, Marmaduke. Originally shooting to fame in Brad Anderson’s worldwide comic strip, Marmaduke leaps into the film world, leaving a trail of canine chaos. Following The Winslow family’s move from Kansas to Orange County, the Duke and crazy cat Carlos attempt to fit into their new, shiny neighborhood. Unfortunately for the Duke, that isn’t so easy to do when you’re a supersized teenage dog who has a tendency to cause havoc wherever he roams. However, it’s not all doom and gloom for our favourite pooch. Finding his niche amongst a mixed breed pack of dogs, the Duke begins to fit in and even has time for a spot of surfing with his newfound feline friends. With voices from Fergie, Kiefer Sutherland and Steve Coogan, Marmaduke promises to be perfect summer family fun. Liz Woods

8 Now this is a remake audiences will really be able to get their teeth into. I’m not talking Jaws I’m talking the classic B-movie: Piranha. The original 1978 film was undoubtedly the most successful and enjoyable of films to cash in on the success of Jaws. After all, you’re not likely to recognise other Jaws-inspired flicks, such as Barracuda (1978) and Great White (1981), unless you really know your films. Directed by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes), this impressive remake not only has digital piranhas, it’s in 3D. Unlike the original, which saw a group of mutant piranhas escape from a military base, this time the piranhas emerge from an underwater fissure that appears after an earthquake, unleashing scores of the prehistoric creatures that vanished over two million years ago. All that’s needed is a hefty dose of fish food, which is lucky (for the piranhas anyway) because Lake Victoria is teeming with sexy Americans on their spring break. Prepare for chilling and action-packed fun, perfect for the 3D experience. Justin Vingoe
