NO OVERCROWDED BEACHES.

NO TOURIST TRAPS. What sets Tobago apart? Tucked away in the Southern Caribbean, this gem of an island offers an expansive and unique travel experience. In addition to a number of accessible, beautiful sandy beaches that remain verdant and unspoiled, Tobago is home to the oldest protected forest in the western hemisphere – just one of the reasons that nature seekers and bird watchers have this island on their to-do lists. Surfing is excellent here as well, notably in peak season, December to March. We have top-notch diving spots and reefs, where you can experience nature in relative solace. Or, if you’re looking for sporting events (ever been to a goat race?) or culture, Tobago is rich with it – the Tobago Jazz Experience is one of the region’s most anticipated events, while a weekly street party – on Sunday, no less – offers an intriguing glimpse into island life. Whether you’re a dive enthusiast, history or adventure seeker, or a hopeless romantic, come visit Tobago and see a different side of the Caribbean.

“ I always loved the hotel and dreamed about transforming it into something special.

A B R E AT H O F F R E S H A I R

In early 2015 we jumped headfirst into an extensive renovation and repositioning of our existing property and brand. We called on the most talented minds in Trinidad and Tobago to work with us in executing our plan – from Brian Mac Farlane’s Design Studios, to independent branding consultancy, Abovegroup. Together they helped us to realise a vision of a new, fresh MIBR as a preeminent destination for international visitors and stylish locals alike – steeped in tradition, but with contemporary flair. SIGNIFICANT UPGRADES TO DATE INCLUDE: Redesigned lobby area Lobby shop Free Wi-Fi throughout the compound New restaurant and bar Upgraded restaurants and bars Upgraded room fixtures Upgraded spa and gym* Upgraded conferencing facilities Upgraded beach facilities Improved security Expanded wedding and honeymoon services *Opening in 2017

“The Mount Irvine Bay Hotel has belonged to my family since 1985 but my memories of Mount Irvine begin years before that. My parents had a house in Mount Irvine and my friends and I used to go to the hotel to swim in the pool during school holidays. My children grew up roaming the hotel grounds, snorkelling in the bay and splashing in the pool.

I always loved the hotel and dreamed about transforming it into something special. When the opportunity came I had a very clear vision of what I wanted Mount Irvine Bay Resort to be. My vision was to create the best resort in Trinidad and Tobago. The hotel has the best location on the island. I knew that if we upgraded the facilities, combined with the natural beauty of the landscape, Mount Irvine Bay Resort would have no equal. Luckily for me MacFarlane’s Design Studios shared my vision. We set about creating a resort that would not only meet but exceed international standards for style and elegance while maintaining a strong Caribbean flavour… I have a strong belief and it is this – If I build it, they will come.” Jacqueline Yorke-Westcott Executive Chairman Mount Irvine Bay Resort

“ As a young child, our family spent vacations at Mount Irvine Hotel; and ever since then I have been intrigued with many aspects of this grand Caribbean hotel, particularly the restaurant located in the old Sugar Mill. When Mac Farlane’s Design Studios Ltd was appointed to refurbish and redesign the hotel, I was indeed honoured. I, along with my dedicated team, focused on enhancing some of the hotel’s original charm while at the same time injecting a contemporary flair. By removing some of the walls and partitions we created an open breezy Caribbean atmosphere. The addition of old plantation artwork in sepia tones, some colonial style furniture with a mix of contemporary elements creates a fresh eclectic look that welcomes guests to the new Mount Irvine Bay Resort. ” Brian Mac Farlane Mac Farlane’s Design Studios
