WE’RE OFF AND RUNNING The launch of our Stage 2 marks the fruition of our bold development plans, with new operations including GFitness Freshwater, Carlile Swimming and a range of Health & Wellbeing operators taking shape at Harbord Diggers. It was over eight years ago that our valued members and the local community told us what they wanted in the new Harbord Diggers and we have since built a thriving community hub that caters to local demands and provides significant benefit to the community. The first of our Stage 2 operators, including Beaches Baby, Rebound Health and GFitness Freshwater, opened their doors in August and have already become home to thousands of happy Northern Beaches locals. The state-of-the-art GFitness Freshwater facility has already been largely regarded as a market leader in the highly competitive fitness arena. In September, we welcome Urban Beauty and °CRYO STAY YOUNG to the Health & Wellbeing precinct before Carlile Swimming is unveiled in October. To mark the official opening, we have a dedicated weekend of events and activities across 26 and 27 October. Join us we celebrate the operation of these wonderful new facilities.

‘It takes a village to raise a child’ Owner of the newly opened Beaches Baby in Freshwater Peta Arthurson understands not every day of parenting is a bed of roses. Her own parenting journey with her first child had a bumpy start that was ultimately enriched with light and laughter through a strong, supportive network of parents – that she had to create for herself out of necessity! “After the birth of my daughter I was living overseas and lonely. The importance of having access to a support network and education options became very clear to me! There’s a reason why they say ‘it takes a village to raise a child’,” said Peta. Upon her return to Sydney, Peta created a beautiful space to partner with parents, grandparents and carers on this crazy journey we call parenting. Beaches Baby provides educator-led classes, workshops, support groups and more for all stages of the parenting journey. There’s something for everyone: mum,
dad, grandparents, carers, babies and all. Families are encouraged to continue the conversation after class and head over to the deck and enjoy the view. Enter through the gorgeous baby boutique located inside opposite the main carpark entrance to the Harbord Diggers and experience everything Beaches Baby has to offer for pre-baby, during-baby, toddler and forever parenting. When you walk into Giovanni Pilu’s spinoff restaurant, AcquaFresca by Pilu, it’s hard not to feel as though you’ve been transported to a quaint café on the Italian coastline. Stone archways and the open kitchen resemble a humble seaside trattoria you’d stumble across on the Amalfi Coast, but AcquaFresca by Pilu also boasts all the benefits of living on the Freshwater peninsula. Giovanni blends seasonal fruit with prosecco to create the tasty cocktail, and loves serving it alongside the mortadella and fried pizza bites. Moving to main course and the menu offers a vast selection. The puffyedged, thin-centred Neapolitan style pizzas are made from a blend of stoneground durum, spelt and semolina flour.
Giovanni’s ‘Gamberi’, a pizza with prawns, zucchini and chilli oil, is always a favourite, as is the ‘Piccante’ which combines the classic ingredients of salami, spicy n’duja and caramelised onions.
