Long before “buying local” was the thing to do, Mr. Ingle was buying from local farmers because it was the only option when he opened his first store in 1963 in Asheville and we’ve been doing it ever since. For the past several years, we’ve been working with ASAP (Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project) and Blue Ridge Food Ventures to bring more local farmers and businesses into Ingles. We highlight this with monthly “Taste of Local” events held in store.
