Here’s a look at what happened at our last What’s On The Menu? supper club

There are few greater pleasures in life than picking up the fresh fragrance of flame-grilled fare on salt sea air. Ok, maybe if it happened whilst we were overlooking the beach of a five-star resort on a desert island, we guess that would actually be better. And if we got to take our bestie. In those unlikely circumstances, we would agree that it might be possible to improve on a timeless classic.

What an incredible stroke of luck then, that all this wishlisting above is essentially the barebones of what happened during October’s What’s On The Menu? supper club.

Some twenty-strong Abu Dhabi residents joined us at the Saadiyat Rotana Resort and Villas’ beautiful Turtle Bay Bar & Grill for a specially curated six-course menu featuring a range of surf, turf and grilled delicacies that have helped make Turtle Bay one of the most coveted restaurants in the capital and the worthy winner of the Middle East’s Luxury Seafood Restaurant gong at the World Luxury Restaurant Awards 2021.

Highlights enjoyed from this ‘especially for What’s On guests’ menu included a foie gras sumac terrine, poached seabass kiwi meuniere, Wagyu beef with panseared foie gras and potato millefeuille, with a lemongrass and kaffir lime crème brulee to finish.

Everyone loves dinner. But you know what everyone loves even more? An exclusive dinner – and a free one at that – which is why we love to host What’s On The Menu? – our fun supper club series that tours around the UAE, popping up at some of the country’s new or legendary spots.

Next month, we’re kicking off our shoes and heading onto the calm, white sandy beaches of Abu Dhabi to visit The Loop Restaurant & Bar, an alfresco restaurant on the shoreline of Bab Al Qasr.

Our guests will be encouraged to dine barefoot, their toes digging in the sand, as they dig into a specially curated menu featuring mussels in saffron sauce, and mains such as fruitti di mare, and rib eye steak accompanied by a range of sundowner sips and wine.
