SPORT & OUTDOOR

THE RUNNERS Gareth

Features Editor I ran the RAK Half Marathon earlier this year, having not run more than 50 metres for a good decade until I started training. When I sprinted (oh yes, sprint finish) over the finish line I felt I could have kept going. So by January 2011, I will be ready to run the full 26 and a bit miles. No problem. Will you be joining me?

Marathon

10km Helen

Deputy Editor I’m not built for speed. It’s a sad fact I’ve come to accept over the years, but 2010 has seen me improve my fitness through all manner of weird sports and I feel it’s time to put the ticker to the test. 10km is only three laps of Safa Park – be a pal and come along?

Iain

Chief Sub Editor I’ve always fancied myself as a (sort of) runner and I’ve taken part in a half marathon or two in the UK. It was the Great North Run and it finished a handy five-minute crawl from my flat. I’d like to beat my best time of two hours – and I could do with all the support I can get!

RUN WITH US! Our first What’s On Run With Us session with James and Chris will be held at Safa Park, October 11. For more information and to register, contact gareth@motivate.ae. Please join us, we’ll look silly running on our own and Mr Fitness really needs to train people or there’s no reason for him to don the luminous spandex. www.runwhatsonrun.wordpress.com
