It takes inspiration from our Arabic surroundings, with calligraphy and geometric Arabesque. I incorporated Arabic lettering across brilliant colour for a rich feel and reference at the same time, adding a cultural dimension to modern style.

DO YOU MISS ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN?
I do sometimes. Maybe I express that longing in some of my fashion pieces. However, working with fashion and accessories is more rewarding. I could be designing a new shoe today, and in six weeks have it in my hands. There is something to be said for the flexibility and creativity allowed in fashion, and it makes it more appealing.
WORKING IN NEW YORK, YOU LAUNCHED AENNIS EUNIS…
Yes, I had always looked forward to having my own brand, designed and produced under my name, and my experience in New York gave me the confidence to do this. I participated in shows to learn more about the industry whilst I was there, and I think my overall fashion and retail experience made the choice clear to me.

YOU’RE LAUNCHING YOUR READY-TO-WEAR AND ACCESSORIES LINE WITH SHOES - WHY NOW?
I’ve always admired shoes, the complexity and endless designs of each component. I appreciate the sculptural nature of shoes, and perhaps I relate to footwear more than fabrics because of that threedimensional factor, as if they are objects or products. ■
