Welcome to the Moscow Chamber’s New Electronic Business Connection

We invite you to take a moment to read the Business Connection when it appears each month. It will give you all kinds of information about what’s happening at the Chamber, and how we can be of service to you and the community. You’ll see a column of events over to one side, and a short series of news articles right down the middle. We’ll let you know who has joined the Chamber, and celebrate the achievements of our membership. In short, we’ll September 10 - Vandal Football vs. share the news, and hopefully surprise you once in a while!

If you’re driving down the Moscow-Pullman Highway on Saturday, September 24 - and see Jan Ahles walking down the Chipman Trail – honk your horn, or say “You go girl!”, or do something else to show your solidarity. Jan will be making tracks with a number of compassionate-hearted people who have joined the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s”. Proceeds will go to the Alzheimer’s Association. We’re bringing your attention to Jan’s ambulations, because the Moscow Chamber of Commerce is so proud of its Membership. Jan is a fine example of a member who goes way out of her way to help her community and the world at large! Jan is one of the Moscow Chamber’s Ambassadors, those wonderful people who dress in red and support Chamber events and partnerships. Jan is also the Community Relations Director for Good Samaritan. As such, she works in the field of elder care, but with Jan, it’s not about fulfilling a roster of duties. She has a passion for enriching the lives of others. So, we at the Moscow Chamber would like to recognize Jan Ahles, and thank her for her contributions to the Chamber and to our community.

Vandal Spirit Friday Rises Above the Heat The Moscow Chamber of Commerce was a proud participant of the first Vandal Spirit Friday Celebration to be held at the Palouse Mall on Friday, August 26. Temperatures were hovering around the high 90’s, but that was nothing compared to the high degree of Vandal Spirit that registered that evening. Athletes from UI football, basketball, golf, track and field, swim and dive and several other teams were on hand to meet the community and play games with the kids. Joe Vandal was there, and the crowd was treated to a performance by the Marching Band and Cheer Squads. President Nellis, Coach Akey, Rob Spear, Nick Poppelwell, and our own Steve Hacker, took turns at the podium, but mostly, the event was all about having fun, and supporting our school while we’re doing it! The Chamber would like to thank all the partners who helped the event happen, including Z-Fun, Gritman Medical Center, Avista Utilities, Inland Cellular, The Moscow Pullman Daily News, the Moscow Police Department, Pepsi Bottling Company, the Moscow Lacrosse Club, UI Athletics, the VandalStore, and the UI Support Services. We’d especially like to thank Winger’s, Baskin Robbins and Smoky Mountain Pizza for braving the elements and making food available for sale on a steaming hot afternoon. And, finally, we’d like to recognize Sherwin Williams. They showed their Vandal Spirit by providing much needed power at the last minute!
