Nagas have lost one of those few who laid the foundation stone of the State of Nagaland, and it is an opportune time for the living to bemoan the death of Tokheho Sema,” Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang said in a condolence message. On hindsight, the founders of the State made supreme sacrifice, the benefits of which are being reaped by the succeeding Naga generations, Zeliang added. “Thiers was a decision which was far-sighted and uncanny for their age and time; theirs is acclaim and appreciation that the present generation of Nagas must extend.” Describing Late Tokheho as a veteran politician who took up politics as a career very early in life, Zeliang said he was an altruistic person through and through and the welfare of

the general public and the State in particular was his “prior-most concern.” “I have worked with him closely ever since my entry into politics, and found him to be a humble and straightforward person who never hesitated to speak out his mind,” Zeliang said adding that their last meeting was in August 15, 2015 when Late Tokheho along with five other surviving Members of the IBM called on the CM. “On behalf of the people of Nagaland and my family members, I extend my profound condolences to you and your family members. The golden jubilee celebration of the Angami Baptist Pastor Dikon Krotho (ABPDK – Pastors & Deacons Organisation) will commence on January 13 at Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechü Zubza. Dimapur, January 12 (mExn): All the candidates who have filed nomination for the Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) elections have promised to withdraw their nomination papers by signing an undertaking with Chumoukedima Village Council (CVC) and 16 tribal unit leaders as witness, according to a press release from Razouvotuo Chatsu, Chairman, CVC. “All candidates irrespective of party affiliation or tribe at their own under-

standing and knowledge have apologized for filing nomination for the ensuing election against public interest that violates the combined meeting resolution of CVC and 16 tribal unit leaders on January 2, 2017 at Chumoukedima Village Council Hall,” the release stated. “The candidates have clearly stated and promised to withdraw their nomination papers and that in the failure to do so he/she shall be held solely responsible for any action taken against

those defaulters,” it added. Meanwhile, CVC and all the 16 tribal units, GBs under Chumoukedima Town expressed gratefulness to all the candidates for promising to withdraw their nomination papers. NPF Mon reaffirms to ‘courteously’ take part in upcoming ULBs election Dimapur, January 12 (mExn): The Naga People's Front (NPF) Mon Division reaffirmed to “courteously face” in principle to the notification of the Election Commission for the forthcoming election to Urban Local Bodies in the state slated on February 1. The reaffirmation motion was adopted in a meeting held in its office on January 12, informed a press note from NPF Mon Secretary (Press) Hongnaw HA Konyak.

“The Divisional officials in unison guaranteed to actively execute the task until the victorious conclusion of the party candidates contesting to Tobu, Aboi, Naginimora and Tizit town councils where the electioneering process is deepening and serious in combating the elections,” it said. The division further congratulated nine NPF candidates from Mon district who are contesting without their opponents and will probably be “de-

clared elected as and when the process of voting is officially over.” It further extended its best wishes to the remaining party candidates from the district as well as from entire state in the fray. The NPF Mon Division also fervently beseeched the governmental officials, the NGOs and Civil societies, law enforcing agencies to actively cooperate with the competent authority administering the election process.

Teachers seeks clarification on NPS in Wokha

Dimapur , January 12 (mExn): Primary teacher appointees in Wokha district have sought clarification from the SubDivisional Education Officer, Wokha regarding the National Pension System (NPS). A press statement issued on behalf of “all primary teachers’ appointed in 2102 claimed that while their Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) were generated way back in 2012 and their contribution (employee

contribution) for NPS have been deducted from their salary for the past five years, neither employees’ contribution nor the employer’s contribution have been uploaded in the Central Recordkeeping Agency (CRA) transaction statement till date. As of transaction statement received on January 7, 2017, the total contribution the pension account till December 31, 2016 was Rs. 0.00, it said. “The total value of our contributions as on De-

cember 31, 2016 was Rs. 0.00. Thus, our contributions have earned a return of Rs. 0.00 till December 31, 2016, it added. Why there is still no clarification or action initiated by the concerned DDO–Sub Divisional Education Officer, Wokha, regarding the issue even after a lapse of 5 years, the teachers further questioned. State prepares for Republic Day kohima, January 12 (Dipr): A coordination meeting in connection with work distribution and ground arrangement etc for the ensuing Republic Day Celebration was held in the DC’s Conference Hall, Kohima on January 12. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Rajesh Soudararajan, IAS. The meeting reviewed the minutes of coordination meeting held on December 14, 2016 for the celebration of Republic Day 2017 and confirmed the participation of various departments, 9th Assam Rifles and NGOs/Civil Societies for visitation of Institutions on the occasion . The DC also requested the department concerned to keep in mind and suggest something new on the exhibition stalls and other things, which can be of current things showcasing variety of new things to the people in the next Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations.
