Wokha DPDB to plant ACAUT warns goods transporters on tax 5000 saplings during WED WoKha, april 10 (Dipr): Wokha DPDB felt the urgent need to undertake plantation activity at Mt. Tiyi on World Environment Day, June 5, 2017. The decision was taken during the DPDB meeting held on April 10. Mt. Tiyi is popularly known as the “Abode of Souls” because of the associated legend that souls of people go there after they die. It is of immense importance for Wokha town due to the fact that Wokha town is located on Mt. Tiyi and is its catchment area. Due to development taking place over a number of years as well as human population expansion, the forest of Mt. Tiyi have become depleted and is also becoming devoid of flora and fauna. Vice Chairman DPDB & DC, Wokha Wezope Kenye, who chaired the meeting, urged the members to come forward and extend support
for the success of the plantation. A successful plantation drive would not only mean improvement in the scenic beauty of the town but also markly increase the water holding capacity of the soil. It will also increase the biodiversity and lead to a healthier environment for the denizens of Wokha. Mt. Tiyi forest is a Protected Forest under Forest Department Wokha. District Employment Officer (DEO), Zuthunglo Ezung, while presenting departmental activities in the district said that, the duties and responsibilities of the Department is to enforce the Compulsory Notification of Vacancies (CNV) Act 1959. Dimapur, april 10 (mExN): NSCN (IM) Steering Executive Member from Kyong/Lotha Region, Mhansao Kikon, passed away after a prolonged illness at Zion Hospital Dimapur on April 9. Mourning the loss, General Secretary of NSCN (IM) Th. Muivah in a message stated that late Kikon had given his everything for the cause of Naga nation. “His supreme sacrifice to the Naga nation shall always be remembered and cherished by Nagas of all generations,” Muivah stated. Late Kikon proved himself a man of “decision and stood his ground when the storm of unification group rock the nation,” the Ato Klionser of the Government of the People's Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) stated in his condolence message and recalled how the former kept his word to merge and join forces “with the NSCN” to strengthen Indo-Naga political talk. Late Kikon also fully endorsed and supported the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 and has been faithfully working for the cause of the nation and contributed his last mite despite his ill health, Muivah added. “Members of the Collective Leadership and all rank and file of the NSCN today join with the bereaved family in your sorrow and grief over the demise of your beloved husband, father and leader of the nation.
