Rare Austrian System Stick. This "Bark on" Cherry crook cane has an unusual feature attached to the end of the crook. It is a swiveling cheroot (cigar holder) also made of "bark on" cherry wood. Cheroot canes were popular throughout the 19th century and into the mid 20th century. The cane actually pre-dates the metal badge (known as a cane nail). Pair of Stag Antler Canes. Includes an "L" shaped Sambar stag handle with a nickel collar and Malacca wood shaft. The Malacca shaft is two toned with a crackled finish. Circa 1930. Also includes a late 17th century to early 18th century carriage cane. Carriage canes were based upon tall Malacca sticks four feet to six feet tall. The thin top was to grasp while the lower thicker section provided strength. This cane is one solid piece, not two attached pieces. The Malacca was trained to grow that way. Lot of 3: Brass Knob Canes. The first is a large round ball handle on a Tiger maple shaft with brass ferrule from the 20th century. The second is a flatten ball or disc shaped handle and has a compass hidden inside. The shaft is rosewood and it is from the 20th century. The third is an elongated knob handle cane which is an exact replica of the canes issued to the Confederate Officers during the Civil War. The shaft is made of ash. Includes a large Stag crown handled cane carved to resemble a mushroom. Known as a Mushroom Monger's cane, they were and are very popular in areas where mushrooms are grown. The stag handle is Moose Antler mounted on Spanish Corkwood with a moose antler female. The cane was made by multi-award winning stickmaker, Bill Paisley. Also includes a late 17th century to early 18th century carriage cane. Crown stag handle with monogram and Malacca wood shaft with 800 silver fittings and traditionally long ferrule. The first cane is an eagle head crook which could possibly be sailor made based upon the style of carving. It is dated 1887 and signed "Made by F.F. Thomas". The second is the knob handle has a face carved with a snake wrapped around his head. The wood is lightly sanded hickory and very strong.
