CHECKING FLOAT LEVEL While the engine is running at idle, remove the float-level sight plug. A small amount of fuel should run out from the front half of the carburetor. The level should be slightly higher at the rear. When turned clockwise, the needle-and-seat nut will adjust the float down. When turned counterclockwise, the float is adjusted up. To adjust the needle-and-seat, back off the center screw. Make sure that all components that have been adjusted are checked for tightness. NOTE: Use caution whenever working with fuel system components to minimize spillage and avoid fuel contact with extremely high temperature components.
