GIFT GUIDE 2020

Drive safely on the peninsula during this busy holiday period FOR the fifth summer in a row, Mornington Peninsula Shire, in conjunction with Little Blue Dinosaur Foundation and Victoria Police, will implement the ‘Holiday Time’ road safety campaign in several high-pedestrian activity areas. Colourful road safety banners and signs will be placed at key tourist locations and main roads to appeal to drivers and pedestrians. Signage specially designed to appeal to children with phrases such as ‘Slow Down, Kids Around’ and ‘Hold my Hand’ will be installed in Dromana, Rosebud and Rye to remind drivers and pedestrians about road safety during the holiday period. School holiday periods create a surge in the

population where thousands of children will be on our local roads over the holiday period. Holiday Time signage is a highly visible and timely reminder about the importance of road safety, for both residents and visitors alike, to be more aware of the increase in pedestrian activity in our area, and to stay vigilant with their road safety awareness. “Being a tourist destination, we all know how busy the Mornington Peninsula can get over summer,” said Mornington Peninsula Shire mayor Despi O’Connor. “We urge both locals and tourists to drive safely to ensure every child remains safe while walking or riding through our townships.”
