Bike trails for state park PARKS Victoria wants to build a network of mountain bike tracks in Arthurs Seat State Park. The agency’s district manager, Libby Jude, said there had been “a significant increase in mountain bike activity across the peninsula concentrated around the Arthurs Seat area” as well as “a number of formal approaches from mountain bike user groups”. She said well-designed bike tracks would limit
“impacts on environmental values” and improve rider safety. Building a network of mountain bike trails would “help ensure the protection of significant environmental values and cultural sites” in the state park. People can comment on a discussion paper by Friday 9 May. It is on Parks Victoria’s website www.parks.vic.gov.au or call 13 1963 for a copy.
