Latest news from Bio Vest & Sleeve Compression garment donation

LSS proudly donated a Bio Vest and Sleeve Compression garment to West Suffolk Lymphoedema Service at its 5th June meeting. This donation was also made possible by a very generous £500 donation from Bury Rotary Club, with the garment being purchased through the My Wish Charity. The Bio Vest and Sleeve is attached to a purpose built compression pump which then inflates the garment to provide gentle Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to lymphoedema and lipodema patients. Laura Beaumont, Lymphoedema nurse specialist, QN, advises that “the garment is already at the West Suffolk Hospital clinic ready to be used, it is so great that we can now use this for our breast lymphoedema patients”.

Tips to make the summer sunshine more enjoyable for those living with Lymphoedema and Lipoedema. Avoid exposing the affected lymphoedema and/or lipoedema area to heat and sun, which can cause inflammation, so protect your skin from the sun by covering up with clothes or wearing sun cream with a SPFactor30 minimum. Best to use SPF sun cream AND insect repellent before any exposure to the sun. Don’t forget you can still burn through your compression hosiery. Applying sun cream 30 minutes before putting on a compression garments can help prevent the garment from then sliding off.
